Stopped in for dinner. First time we have been here. The decor was dated stains on the wall covering and lots of tears in the booth seat bottoms. Ordered a Schooner's burger and onion rings and my wife ordered a Philly and fries. When our order came out was a big let down. Greasy preformed burger and greasy onions and cheese. Onion rings are homemade but the batter was to lite and guess what greasy. The wife' Philly meat was a processed meat food think steak um's like. The green peppers and onions were diced and about raw. Her steak fries were the shining star cooked well and not greasy. Our waitress was supper friendly and nice. She is one of the 2 stars. Not a place I'd go back to but if you like greasy bar food it's the place for you. read more

This place gets 5 stars for several reasons. The first being that I am friends with the owners and grew up with their daughters. Extremely friendly people. The crowd is mixed, but definitely small town. There is a large room for the bar and a large dining room, plus a room in the back that can be rented out for parties. The second reason it gets 5 stars is that the food is pretty much all fried... pub food. There are some stand outs. The Gebby's beer batter fried chicken is AMAZING. Then there is the famous Schooner's Tenderloin. It is GINORMOUS. I'm talking cover your entire plate big. They put a bun on top of it and it is just comical. Sinful and worth every bite. read more

I've been here several times as I live in town. Sadly, the food and service don't live up to the hype. Their appetizers are frozen and I could buy them at Wal-Mart. Some of their entrees are exceptional however. The horseshoe and tenderloin being the standouts. Where this place really loses stars though is with the service. Not that it's bad it's just inconsistent. I've been here when the service was excellent and also when it was awful. It really depends on which server you get, and that is where the problem lies. At no point in my latest visit was I welcomed or was my order taken in a timely manner. Our waitress then made snide remarks about us drinking and imparted that she was sober 32 year. Piece of advice, don't judge people just because they are different than you. It will be a LOONNNGGGG time before I come back here. read more

I have ate here a number of times and it has always been great. Excellent and hearty pub food at reasonable prices. The tenderloin pizza is a particular standout. It can get a little loud in the dining area, but I don't come here for the ambiance, I come here for the great food and excellent service. read more

I have only been to this location once. The atmosphere is nice, however I don't believe there is an outdoor seating area. There may be so don't take my word for it. Anyways, I love the onion rings and I have been to the Peoria one many times. I used to get the catfish always but now that the price has gone up, my mother and I get other stuff when we come here, which is always good too. The reason I give this place one star less than five is because of the catfish price going up because if it was still $12 I would come here all the time! Anyways the service, atmosphere, and food is good so I would definitely try it out! read more

They have the best catfish around. Large & breaded perfectly. I highly recommend it. And they have a drive thru.

Schooner's is a great place; the onion rings are just silly. I have tried a number of things over the years such as the tenderloin pizza, the horseshoe and burgers and everything has been spectacular. Their Long Island Iced Teas were good too! I cannot say it enough though, get some of those onion rings. They are bonkers. read more

Went there on Saturday night. I hadn't been there in a while. The tenderloin is more of a pork fritter, it's not hand breaded, it's frozen before it's cooked. Very disappointing and a far cry from what it used to be. It's now overpriced tasteless garbage. Not worth a tebuy read more

Had a great time. Appetizers were ok, onion rings were huge but all stuck together so hard to eat. Cheeseburger was excellent, Reuben was very good. Bartender was very friendly. Overall had a great experience, would come back again. read more

Definitely a small town bar but probably your best option in all of Morton, as crazy as that sounds. If you get the tenderloin you can get two hamburger buns, and there is still extra. Wouldn't one big deep fried piece of pork on a bun be enough? read more

My family has eaten here for many years now. Great place with friendly staff and good pub fare. Over the years I've probably had the whole menu, but I usually do the Grilled Pork Chop and Fries (steak fries, which taste amazing) or Buffalo Wings. But you have to try the tenderloin. I've been going to Schooners for too many years to count. I've always been pleased. Great bar food. Excellent wings. They used to be the best in the world but they changed the Nuclear sauce, and now are not as good. Still pretty decent though. Tenderloin is huge, big enough to share for sure. Best gizzards around. They do tend to get busy around meal times, and Friday/Saturday. A little wait is to be expected. I don't mind though, its worth it. read more

For 15 years we have been driving back and forth between Md and OR with our animals and do take-out at our motels based on Yelp reviews. Yelp is usually reliable good but these reviews were way off. The tenderloin touted in your review was basically fried bread-very little meat was to be found. The onion rings were a soggy mess. The salads we ordered and paid for were left out of the order. This was the worst of the many many places we have done takeout from. The people in Schooners were friendly and helpful , but we could not eat what they did provide and contented ourselves with food from out cooler... read more

The service at this place has always been SLOW but now it's horrible. Last night my daughter asked to go there so we did. There were 3 tables with people at them (4 including us) and two waitresses. It took us 10 minutes just to get menus and order drinks. The waitress got our drinks and then didn't show up again for 30 minutes with our food. We ate our very small portioned entrees (really, 8 steak fries?),emptied our drinks and then sat for another 20 minutes until she got around to asking if we wanted refills. If we weren't on a time schedule, I would have complained to the manager. Not going back; even for a small town Morton has MUCH better options. read more

My family has been going to Schooners in Peoria for years. Food quality is just as good as the Peoria location. The atmosphere was a little different. Definitely an older crowd. A lot of elderly people dining while we were there. We'll be back again though. read more

I've been going here for as long as I can remember. The food is bar food, but the owner is fantastic to watch in action, a real sweetheart. They seem like real good people. I find the atmosphere in the dining room to be odd, but then again I couldn't tell them what would make it more comfortable, other than breaking up the openness a little with some dividers or something. If you hate your body and don't mind paying later, definitely get the tenderloin. Not much meat, but great breading. read more

So went to Schooner's in Morton last night. While the booths are a bit tired, they were very, very clean, in fact the entire place was extremely clean, unlike the dirty, dingy one in Bloomington. Even the mustard and catsup containers very spotless. The entire staff was very friendly, food and drinks came quickly and the food was HOT and the beer was ice cold. Tenderloin was huge and tasty with plenty of leftovers for lunch today. It was nice to be able to sit in a bar/restaurant and be able to actually carry on a conversation without having to try and yell over the music or loud t.v.'s. Prices were also great for the food that was served. Not a huge menu, but enough variety that all could find a couple of choices they wanted to try. I am OK with this--better to have a small menu and do it all well than a huge one then food you get is only so-so. Nice to be able to eat a bit later since food is served until 10 pm on Saturdays. We will definitely be going back here to eat again. I want to try the catfish or Gebby's chicken next. read more
