Review Visit: May 2nd, 2016 Great Harvest has Great food and Good coffee. Great Harvest in my opinion is one full of delicious coffee and fulfilling food that is delicious and satisfying. Luckily you can get both of these at Great Harvest Bread Company in Morton, IL. On an unusually cold and rainy day, my friend and I had hunger pains and the desire for caffeine. I mentioned to her that there is a place in Morton that sounds like a perfect place to go on such a dreary day. After arriving and being warmed up by the friendly staff and room temperature, we looked over the menus and took a few minutes to decide. I settled on the Turkey Bacon Swiss sandwich that came with a pickle. I don't remember what my friend ordered but we decided to split a delicious-looking cinnamon scone/muffin. I ordered just a plain black coffee to go with everything. I do remember being slightly confused by the ordering process. Unfortunately, I don't have any interior photos to help jog my memory on why it was different. But after some friendly help by the staff, we were able to place our orders and took a seat. I can't remember if we had to get up and get the food when it was ready or if they brought it out to you. Either way, the wait time wasn't long at all. Finally, it was time to dig in to the food, coffee and dessert. While the presentation of the food was a bit lacking (as seen in the photos below), the food and quality were anything but. Each bite was like unlocking flavors made up of premium ingredients and expert chef hands. This was one of the best Club-type sandwiches I had in a long time. My friend was equally happy with her food as well. It came time to split the cinnamon baked good and that was also delicious. While it didn't quite hit the same high notes as our main course, it was still delicious after our main meal. As for the coffee, what is there to say about plain black coffee. It was warm, delicious and did it's job. Nothing fancy nor exotic. Just some plain ol black coffee. Granted, it wasn't your bottom-shelf variety but it wasn't anything to write home about. After we sat there with full bellies and spiked blood sugar levels, we lamented the fact that is was so warm and cozy in Great Harvest but miserable and dreary outside. We finally mustered up the courage to leave... despite our full bellies protesting. read more

We lived in Texas prior to 2021 and there was one of these in our town, but we never went. I'm so glad we finally started getting sandwiches from here and bread. I love sandwiches on a good day, add fresh, homemade bread, the kind that lightly sticks to the roof of your mouth because it's so fresh? That's next level. I have always loved Great Harvest. I've been a customer since day 1. They have a great variety, a somewhat friendly staff, and it's always clean. With that being said, my opinion has changed after seeing how haphazardly this establishment deals with food allergies. I am not at all happy. I wasn't going to say anything after the first time this happened, or the second, but now the THIRD time I have to say something. I've never seen a business more lackadaisical about something as serious as food allergies. Items are mislabeled and sometimes labels are incomplete. When brought to the attention of the staff I was blown off each time. No one cares. Food allergies are a BIG DEAL. A life threatening deal. Items need to be labeled correctly and completely and staff needs to be educated on contents of their products. I had one bar that didn't mention a single wheat ingredient but in fact contained wheat. Another item didn't list dairy and there were huge globs of cream cheese in the item. I had two employees tell me the cookie I was purchasing was GF and it wasn't. When I called back I was told by someone else that it did in fact contain wheat. The employees need to be made aware of the importance of knowing their ingredients and foods need to be labeled correctly. I've gotten sick TWICE from the mislabeling and misinformation about gluten and had to throw a scone away due to dairy. Very disappointed. Food allergies are too serious to be taken so lightly by this establishment. If you have food allergies or sensitivities or just want to TRULY know what's actually in your food, I'd avoid this bakery until they make some changes. read more

Food is very good. Coffee out of a carafe isn't ideal for the best flavor and temp but did the job.

While this place is clean, the staff is friendly, and has plenty of samples, two things really annoyed me. First off, as someone with an egg allergy, I ordered the ham, egg, and cheese breakfast panini sans egg for $4.75; however, I was charged for a lunch ham & cheddar panini for $7.25. I didn't realize this until after I was handed my receipt. I could have paid $7.25 for a loaf of the bread and made 8-10 ham & cheddar sandwiches! Secondly, my husband ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast panini (at $4.75) and for a company that promotes "real food" they use microwaveable powdered eggs! read more

Great place for lunch. Menu items same as the other locations. Stopped in on a cold day and got a hot chicken dumpling soup and an Italian sandwich on Multigrain bread. Really hit the spot. All very good. read more

Great Harvest Bread Co. in Morton, IL is a great place to get some coffee or tea, the breakfast sandwich is awesome, lunch sandwiches and the soups, are all great. They also make a lemon blueberry bread that is unbelievably fantastic. Their service is excellent and I am always greeted with a smile and cheerful staff. read more
