You can purchase a whole pie for $20 or get a large slice for $5 which you can share. Such a great place to stop while in the area or on a road trip. We decided to come try out Busy Corner after having it show up on our social media feed. We were surprised at how busy it was for a weekday and for being out in the middle of nowhere. We read somewhere that the chicken takes about 20 minutes to cook, so we expected that. The main thing we came to try was the fried chicken. It was ranked like 3rd best on some list my dad had come across. Unfortunately, I kinda thought it was mostly greasy. The meat was very juicy but didn't have a lot of flavor. I got hash browns with my chicken and they were ok, could have been done a little more. Also ordered a side salad, which was fine, but the ranch was a bit bland. There is a pretty large dessert menu. Their new building is very nice, with a lot of space. I got Ron's homemade tenderloin with an extra bun and there was definitely enough to have two tenderloin sandwiches. It was excellent and my husband agreed. He ordered the fried cod sandwich, which he enjoyed. We shared an order of mozzarella cheese sticks, which were piping hot. Food came out quickly and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The pies....well, needless to say they're worth the hype. We almost never order dessert but the dessert case changed our mind. We shared the Door County Cherry pie and oh man, was it amazing! So good, in fact, that we made a selection of a few different slices of pie to take home for our boys. First time at Busy Corner and I was very pleased! My friends and I came in on a Saturday around 10AM and the place was packed! Small wait but it was definitely worth it. Our server Dillon B. was amazing and definitely made our experience exceptional! He was friendly, upbeat, and gave great recommendations! The food came out hot, quickly and not to mention delicious! Of course we had to get pie slices to finish our meal and thanks to Dillion we made excellent choices! I'll definitely be back to try some more of their extensive menu! Only concern would be the hostesses. The girls that were at the stand were very offputting and clearly did not want to be there. Review Visit: October 11th, 2014 My schedule is never too busy for the Busy Corner. The buzz about the Busy Corner is that they have the BEST pies around. While taste is subjective, I found that anyone that knew about the Busy Corner said they have the best pies around. With everyone universally praising their pies, this sounds like a conspieracy to me. My dad and I took the little drive to Busy Corner one late morning to see what the fuss was about. Neither of us had been there so this was an experience for the both of us. We pulled up to the Busy Corner after getting off I-74 and realized that this might be the main attraction in Goodfield. The town seems like any other small town with nothing much to do except that one good diner. The Busy Corner seems to fill that space but is in an actual modern building and they have the full restaurant feel to it. Our waitress guided us to our table and left us to look over the menu. Neither of us were feeling too adventurous in our meal choosing, so we both ended up with your standard breakfast. I got my personal favorite which is something involving french toast. I think it was the Farmers French Toast after checking out their menu. My dad got the Skillet Corner, where you get to build your own skillet meal. Once our orders were placed, we sipped on some coffee and tried to fully wake up. Depending on where I am, I will drink my coffee differently. At most restaurants, I will have sugar/creamer on standby if its available. Firstly, I will test the coffee with a quick sip. If the quality of the coffee is poor, I will try to find a balance between the coffee, creamer, and sugar. I do this at locally owned places because the quality of coffee can be all over the place and I never know what to expect. Happily, I can say that the Busy Corner has some of the best coffee I ever had at a restaurant. Truth be told, I probably downed 4 cups throughout the entire visit with a 5th one being considered. While I was testing my coffee and talking to my dad, our food came out fairly quick. Maybe after 15 minutes. For how packed the place was, it was a pleasant surprise the food didn't take forever. Seeing as it was late morning and we both hadn't ate anything beforehand, we dived right in. Each mashing of the fork into the bread to cut off a piece was delightful. Why? Because what followed was deliciousness slathered in powdered sugar and syrup. Despite it being texas toast, there was only one actual piece of bread. It was gone almost as quickly as I put down the bacon and sausages that came with it. In spite of it disappearing so quickly, I did enjoy every single bite. Heaven on a plate. My dad is a bit of a slower eater. He was barely halfway through his meal when I pushed my empty plate forward in triumph. As my dad was wrapping up his meal, which he said he enjoyed thoroughly, our waitress asked if we wanted desserts. We mentioned that we heard the pie was delicious but were too full to attempt a slice. She confirmed that they are well-known for their pies and that the pie will be waiting should we want it another time. Having driven by the Busy Corner many times while traversing up and down I-74, I never knew what deliciousness lurked inside. I am not sure what their secret is to delicious food but sometimes peeking behind the curtain spoils the magic. read more

After hearing all the hype about this joint, we decided to take the 90-minute drive to check it out. We walked in, and I felt like I had been teleported to pie heaven. The pies looked amazing. I called some friends and asked them if they wanted a pie. Of course, they all said yes, so we roll out with 7 different pies. Sadly, none of the pies were mind-blowing. This wasn't just my opinion. It was the opinion of all who tried them. The crust was just really odd tasting. I really wanted to love the pies, especially after driving 3 hours round trip to get them. I didn't realize that you did not get a side with your sandwich, as the patty melt was $9.50. The tater tots were an extra $4.99. I don't mind that when the food is good, however, the burger wasn't even a fresh burger, it was a store bought frozen patty, not cooked the way I asked, and the tater tots were overcooked. My grandma died in 1972 and she made the best REAL coconut cream pie. Today I have the memory of that taste in my mouth after buying a whole pie at Busy Corner! I have some family in Eureka and I always try to visit Busy Corner when I am in town. Busy Corner is a portrait of Americana. You know that you are in a Midwest diner when the front counter contains countless homemade pies. It is far from sleepy though. This is a big restaurant with lots of staff. There must have been twenty-five workers there for the lunch shift alone. All the social distancing crap was in effect if that makes you happy. The food was simple, hot, and fast. I had a chopped burger steak with sautéed mushrooms and onions. As per Illinois usual it was under seasoned, but the ingredients were fresh. The execution was spot on. The service was excellent and we picked up a piece of pie to go. BTW the prices are ridiculously cheap. There are many lunch entrées that were less that $10. What can I say? There is nothing special about this place, and that is what makes it special. It was just an exceptional breakfast. No frills, nothing you wouldn't make at home, but probably better than you would make at home. I had the Sausage/Mushroom/Cheese Omelet. One of the problems I have had in the past is that restaurants put too much mushroom on things. Mushrooms can take over the flavor of any dish if you give them a chance. This was a perfect combination of the ingredients. A very tasty omelette. And I am a hash brown snob. I'll take a star off if you give me mediocre hash browns. These were perfect. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I tend to put pepper on most of my breakfast items. It's a really good sign when I don't even think about it. Lizzie had the Biscuits And Gravy. The gravy was nice and rich and thick. The biscuits were really good (for a northern restaurant, ok, I am a biscuit snob too). We pass by this place a couple times a year. We arrived later in the evening, and had quite an interesting experience. I would assume we were one of the last tables as when we were walking up they had to unlock the door for us to come in. As soon as we sat down, the waitress was asking if we were ready to order. Since we just got there, and hadn't even opened the menus yet, we asked for a few minutes but put in our drink orders. When she came back we gave her our food orders. Not even 3 minutes later another woman comes over explaining that the kitchen started throwing out food since they are starting the closing process. She explained that they could only do fried foods this evening. She addressed the food orders that would need to be changed, then asked if we knew what we wanted in leu of the items that were tossed. We all just paused for a moment because we weren't sure what else was really an option as a menu wasn't present. We asked for a menu and were able to find something that meet the criteria that they were able to make. Overall the service just really lacked. The food was okay, and the service was not that great. The ONLY saving grace was the pies. They do have some of the best pies we have had at a diner! If it weren't for the pies, this would likely be a one or two start review due to the service and interactions we had. I understand that this is a small local restaurant, but the quality of service and food was mediocre and less than exceptional. We have been here before for breakfast and for desserts, but I would only recommend them for those two things. Unfortunately coming in the evening was not a great experience for us. read more

In the evenings you'll see Manager Paul working hard, doing whatever he needs to do - serve, seat, bus tables, manage, and deliver lots of smiles. The food is outstanding, classic-American diner food and yep, everyone goes for the pies. I go there a couple times a week for their specials, and their delicious soups - the best Italian dressing ... classic chicken and noodles ... country fried steak and gravy ... I finally tried the ribs last Friday night *good stuff*, and the cheese curds *yum*. The food is terrific. There's a reason they call it the Busy Corner. This place has some serious foot traffic. The secret is out and everyone knows exactly where to go for the best pies! I mean the chicken was good! Crisp on the outside and hot and juicy on the inside but that pie. I will dream about it until I return. The pies are made from scratch and they sell fast! This review is based on our indoor experience and our to go dessert experience. We were seated very promptly and the waitress was very quick, filled drinks up frequently, and the food came out very fast. We had the chicken tenders and waffle fries and Ron's Tenderloin. The chicken tenders were very thin and the fries tasted very basic and weren't crispy. I had the tenderloin and it would rank middle of the pack for most tenderloins that I've had in western Illinois. It was huge but didn't cut apart easily and had some seasonings but could have used a wider variety. We took 4 pies home for dessert and they are magical. We got 3 fruit pies: strawberry rhubarb, peach, and apple cinnamon; 1 cream: Door County cherry. The pies are huge, fresh, and homemade from the filling to the pie crust. If we were back in the area we would pick up pie to go and skip on the diner experience. read more

The Busy Corner was not so busy at an off hour after lunch. But there were still folks there. I ordered the Cheeseburger, Mac and cheese and Oreo peanut butter pie. My friend had the pork tenderloin sandwich. He said it was like his grandmother used to make and made him nostalgic. My burger was good. It came out as requested. The tomatoes were not v ripe. The Mac and cheese was very creamy. The Oreo Peanut butter pie was too cold but tasted amazing a few hours later. This is good spot to stop. Found out about the pies about a year ago and haven't stopped getting slices to go ever since. I finally tried the food, and I was not disappointed. We went for an early lunch on a Friday, so there was no wait. I had the bacon cheeseburger and bf had the lunch special, hot beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Instead of a salad, he got chili. The hot beef was amazing. Great flavor, huge portion. The chili was good, but beware if you don't care for spiciness, it does have a small kick. The bacon cheeseburger was good, only complaint was the bun was a little dried out, either day old or sat out for longer than it should've. We got slices of triple berry and coconut cream pies to go.
