When we were scheduling, they were booking a month out. And, I think it's important to note, this is a finishes company: they do the fine finishes, not a spackle and patch sort of deal. So, if you want to change the texture on your walls or ceilings, do something dramatic with your stucco, or patch a section of your wall or ceiling without redoing the entire thing... these are your peeps! Associated finishes came out, scraped the finish, cut out and replaced the dry wall and restored the finish and painted to match the rest of the ceiling so well, you can't even tell they were here! They laid plastic on our floors and to cover the countertops and appliances to minimize dust and swept up after themselves. Seriously! You'd never know they were here, except the ceiling is magically back to normal. My compliments to Martin and Luis -- craftsmen! I even commented on how Luis mixed EXACTLY the right amount to cover the patch... no waste! And, they were great communicators throughout the project, letting me know how long it would be between steps and what the next step would be.

Not recognizing a huge red flag when being asked for a large advance payment outside the contracted payment schedule before the work was completed. Not paying more attention at the showroom, which should have been a giveaway--basic design, broken cabinets, sloppy paint lines, and no real sense of quality or style. Not pivoting as different subcontractors rotated through, many barely showing up, some openly complaining about their employer, and when communication, planning, and attention to detail became nearly nonexistent. Not writing a review sooner when at the end there was no final walk through, thank you, or handshake, likely because my expensive remodel still needs a qualified contractor to fix. The photos don't lie, the quality is bad, but more importantly, so was the experience.

From the start, Van the owner came out to do our quote and in the end the cost was still within the range we agreed on. I really appreciated that. I'm happy we went with actual home renovation experts instead of just saving money with a small team. (Which we did consider as some of our friends did) We had a dedicated project manager named Dakota the whole way thru which was great for any questions for help or updates along the way instead of asking van for questions or calling customer service all of the time. I put some photos of some 3d renderings they showed me that I used as inspo for our casita. They will use your exact home and layout too so there are no mistakes with measuring colors or anything. I want to mention because this was important to me: you can tell they're true professionals not just hired from Facebook... they always wore matching shirts, never reeked of cigarettes or alcohol, and never left a huge mess behind. It's the little things like that that were super important to me. Not that all do but I do know it happens and it wasn't our experience Not gonna lie... it did take a bit longer than expected. Partly cuz I changed my mind on a few things mid-way (oops) and also we had a couple storms that slowed things down. But the team handled it all really well and kept us updated so nothing ever felt like a surprise. Me and my husband knew WAY ahead of time if things were going to be held up. During the design phase we met with Kathy their designer and got some 3D renderings which helped us picture it way better. The final plan had a full kitchen, laundry, bedroom, bathroom... all finished with high-end materials and serious attention to detail. Kathy knew what was in stock and was helpful if I wasn't sure which to choose but for the most part I chose what I wanted. The casita feels like it was always meant to be part of our home. This was more than just a custom home addition... it is a piece of our home that blends right into our house which feels amazing. My parents and guests love it and we couldn't ask for anything more. Ryan is incredibly concerned about quality and used the best products on the market. He lived with his quote and there were no "surprise" costs that seems do endemic to the industry. Our roof has a 30 year materials warranty and a 25 year warranty for labor. Pretty sure I will be going out feet first before that time is up. I wanted something that would last and was willing to pay for the best. I could have probably gotten it done somewhat cheaper, but then you have to worry about what corners are being cut. We signed the contract and work started a short time later. Their foreman, Kurt, was nothing short of amazing. He sent us a preliminary work schedule at the beginning of the project and he also sent an email or a text daily outlining who was coming the next day, what they were going to accomplish and what project was next. Throughout the project Kurt was very fast responding to texts or emailed questions. As for the work, it went very smoothly and right on schedule. The demo guys were on time, mindful of any dust and hauled everything off at the end of their day. The plumber was friendly, very professional and had a few helpful suggestions that we didn't think about in our initial plan. He works a lot with Rise Above and you can tell they have a great working relationship. Next came the tile installation. Based on my initial experience with their "designer" Tiffany, I am not impressed at all. She…read morestarted off asking me a few questions about my project, what I needed done, and what my budget was going to be. I told her I needed the kitchen, master bathroom and guest bathroom remodeled. Mind you, there will be no major floor plan changes, plumbing changes, nor electrical changes, so permits will not be needed at all for this 2200 sqft home. All I am doing is replacing what is there. My kitchen is about 14' x 14' with cabinets along two opposite walls, with a 7 foot peninsula coming out of one end, with upper cabinets only on one wall. The first thing she does is take my address and goes online to find pictures of my house on a real estate website to "guestimate" what my kitchen will cost based on photos that she looks at. She tells me $50,000. That's when I got suspicious about this place. I had three other estimates for my kitchen with measurements actually taken and they all came in around $25000. But the real kicker came when she gave me estimates for my two bathrooms based on photos again. Mind you, she has no idea of the sizes for these bathrooms, but based on the overall square footage, she knows it's not a 5000+ sqft home. For my guest bathroom, which is about 13' x 6', all I need replaced is the vanity, mirror, lights, toilet, and the alcove tub with tiling in the tub area, a simple job and nothing major. She quotes me $40,000. I nearly passed out, and now I'm thinking something is up. For the master bath, which is approximately 17' x 7' which includes a 6' x 5' shower (with interior tiling), two vanities, mirrors, and lights. She quotes me $60,000. Yes that's right, $60,000. That's when I knew something was up. (A) She either has no clue as to what she is doing, (B) they are giving me these outlandish prices because they are in high demand due to these times we are in at the moment and they just want to throw the highest most ridiculous price out there hoping it will stick, and if doesn't, no sweat off their back because they will just move on to someone who will pay their outlandish prices due to the demand, or (C) she was trying to dissuade me into wanting them to do the job because my budget ($50,000) wasn't worth their time and effort. I think (C) is most likely, if not all the above. Then come to find out there is a $5500 fee to have someone come out to take measurements in order to draw up a pretty design on a computer to get actual true estimates of what this project would cost. So you can see why I'm thinking (C). Please note, If you go to their page on Houzz you will see nothing but all 5 star reviews, not a 4 star or lower in site, and you will also see multiple completed projects with the same level of remodel I proposed, all done for under $50,000, completely proving my point. I will definitely be staying away, and finding a more honest business!

Sorry the picture is a little dark, but the island has open shelves on this side of the picture. The kitchen also includes a microwave drawer, trash can drawer, specialty drawers, pull out drawers in some of the cabinets, soft close, etc. We have now recently hired them again to do our bathroom after severe water damage. They fit us in and gave us a better than ever bathroom in a reasonable time. They also gave us all the documentation we needed for our insurance company. We also had them recently do a custom craft room. It's also amazing! They made my dream come true and figured out exactly how to lay it out so everything would be setup perfectly in reach for all my different projects! The designers are great at listening to what you want and providing suggestions to make sure everything looks great. They have a great eye for colors and styles. Additionally all the workers are very professional and do high quality work. They show up on time and make sure every little detail is perfect. You can trust them to do the best from design to build!
