Dr Marc Bloomenstein is honestly the best eye doctor that I have ever seen. I had a long standing doctor that recently died, so switched to Schwartz in 2024. Dr Bloomenstein found something that had never been mentioned or observed before, and quickly referred me to the correct specialist. I learned of this place by listening to KUPD. I originally went in to get a Lasik consultation but they determined I had cataracts. Well, I proceeded to get cataract surgery on my right eye. I don't remember too much of the procedure, after they put me under that is. I do remember they asked if I use marijuana because it took them more than expected to get me under.... I guess using ADHD stimulants may have a similar effect, well at least that is what I hope because I am a medicated neurodivergent person. I prefer the Glendale location because it is easier to get to, and who does not want to drive less with the rising gas prices? The staff is friendly and helpful. Get your consultation, because you have nothing to lose, unless you don't have to wear corrective lenses anymore like me. read more

I saw Dr Schwartz 2 years ago ( 2022). Was very impressed with his Scottsdale office. I had the free 2 hour in-depth eye screening because I have been wearing 2.5 reading glasses for many years now. Went to see if there is anything that I can do to fix the problem. Hoping that insurance would pay for some I waited another 2 years to see Dr Schwartz again in October 2024. Came to the realization that only Lens replacement surgery would fix the problem of me needing to wear reading glasses. I had 20/20 vision for distance. Just wanted to fix the near vision. Went ahead and had both eyes done in Nov. 2024. Unfortunately insurance did not pay for anything. Went with the new Odyssey multifocal lenses. The surgery went smoothly, the ladies at the front desk and surgery center were friendly, helpful and professional. The office was very efficient and fast and I had an absolutely positive experience at both the Scottsdale and Glendale offices. Highly recommend this place! read more

I had a clear lens replacement surgery in 2019 with Dr. Schwartz. I was promised that it would be a wonderful experience. I had Lasik approximately 20 years earlier and had been so happy, but my eye sight was not as clear as it had been. So after talking with Dr. Schwartz, I decided to have clear lens replacement. Dr. Schwartz explained that almost everyone was going to have a cataract anyway so it was better just to replace my lens when I was young and could enjoy great vision for the rest of my life. I paid out of pocket for my surgery and had high hopes for great eye sight again. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Swartz assistant took me into a room. She was confused about the type of lens that I was to receive.(I had paid for a PanOptix lens, the best upgraded lens.) The assistant sat me in a chair where, without any anesthesia, a laser was used to break up my natural lens. Then, the assistant walked me into another room where I was finally given anesthesia. I was blind and completely terrified during the time from the laser room until the anesthesia was administered in a different room. During the procedure, I remember hearing a Doctor say something didn't go well. He had to do something else. When I went for my follow up appointments, I could not see well. Everything was very blurry. The assistants at the follow up appointments couldn't understand why I couldn't see better. Then, they would read my chart and get quiet. They told me that a doctor would come and talk to me. The doctor (Not Dr. Schwartz) would perform a few tests and then say, "it is going to take some time to get better." No one ever told me what went wrong, or even admit that something was wrong. They covered it up. It took 2 years before I began to see better. During that time, I ended up needing a Vitrectomy. The retina specialist that Dr. Swartz referred me to, requested my medical records. I requested my medical records as well. We each asked multiple times. Dr. Swartz office never sent the records. This was a horrible experience. I didn't every want to have another cataract surgery because I was scared that it would be a similar experience. I recently had a dramatic loss of vision in my other eye. I was referred to Horizon Eye Specialists from my retina specialists. I saw Dr. Angela Kovacik. She diagnosed a cataract. I was terrified to do the procedure because my experience with Dr. Schwartz was so bad. But I had to do the surgery because my vision had deteriorated so much. I had that procedure on Monday of this week. It was a completely different experience. On the day of the surgery, I was given anesthesia at the beginning of the surgery. I was made comfortable and the whole experience was easy. The recovery and results are amazing! The morning after the surgery, I took off the eye shield and could see very well. It has been 4 days since the surgery and every day my vision is better. I am so happy with Dr. Angela Kovacik. These were night and day experiences. I would avoid Dr. Jay Swartz at all costs! read more

Very disappointed in their services today. After waiting more than 30 minutes past my appt time, I went to the desk and my file still had not made it to the rack to go back. There is nothing more I hate than Dr's offices that expect YOU to get there 15 minutes PRIOR to your appt time and then you are still waiting in the lobby 30 minutes AFTER your appt was supposed to be. This was a early morning appt - no excuses that the day was running late. Just front office staff with no sense of customer service. I walked out and am not sure I will return. read more

The Dr was professional but beware of their front office; the 2 receptionists are rude and not helpful at all. After I completed my routine eye exam I was told their office verified my benefits and I have no vision benefits; incorrect. They had my copay info indicating Vision and yes they are members of the network.....but the receptionist didn't care; said there is nothing she can do. They made me pay $60. I will never return to Schartz Laser Eye Care in Glendale. And I am following up to my insurance company with a complaint. I did call this office to ask for help but again she was rude and wouldn't listen. read more

First of all Dr. Schwartz did surgery for my wife and a lot of our friends a decade ago and did an amazing job. This is why I decided to get a consultation. Reason for only two stars is the service that was provided in my last two visits and has not been resolved. I went for a consultation and gal that did the tests was amazing, really friendly and informative so no issues there. Dr. Schwartz same thing very informative and courteous and really took his time, you can tell he cares about his practice. Dr. Schwartz recommend new glasses with the new prescription before doing a surgery just to make sure we are set if I like the glasses we would be good to go. This is where it really went down hill. Lady that does glasses treated the whole transaction as if I was buying groceries and not something that has such a big impact on someone's life. There was no options provided on lens types, thickness, brand, coating or any explanation whatsoever other than do you want new pair or you want to use your existing frames. I figured same lenses just different prescription because mine got progressively worse even though they worked amazing.I explained doctor's recommendations and why new lenses and still had to ask her questions about what she is actually ordering because she was not explaining literally anything. When I got my original pair of glasses at another office after tests they provided me with weird metal glasses with bunch of lenses on them to ensure everything looks good with prescription what to look for. I walked around and they worked great, then they talked about glass types, differences between glass, thickness, sharpness, coatings etc. to make sure right thing is being order. This lady did NONE of that so I figured it's a minor change from what I had so nothing else needed to be discussed as she was very short with even answering the basic questions. Today I went to pick up new lenses and it was a disaster. Lenses looked and felt super cheap, extremely thick compared to what was on my frames and worst of all almost no difference with vision when I put them on. When I brought up the issue she said you have to get used to them. I argued that because I wear my glasses only once a week and sometimes even less than that and didn't have that issue with my current lenses at all. I explained that my current glasses felt like HD immediately improving my vision and extremely sharp and focused at distance . I asked for the old lenses and she told me she doesn't know what lab does with them. Absolutely horrible service, she try to blame it on me by saying that they did everything based on what I said in the tests and if I wanted to keep my old lenses I should have said that up front. Even discount tire asks their customers what they want to do with their old tires, you don't just take someone's property and say I don't know what the lab does with them. I asked her to call the lab and see if she can get them back at least three times and she wouldn't do it. After a bit of back and forth it turns out that new prescription was lot less for far vision from my current glasses and again she said that's what you told us. Just horrible customer service. Not once did she say "that's not good, or we definitely don't want it to feel worse or I know that this is not what we wanted but we'll make it right" absolutely nothing, straight into defense mode blaming my answers to the test. Lacking basic customer service. Simple solution to all of this could have been those weird metal trial glasses to compare right then and there with current glasses. Now I have to take another day off to deal with this. Based on this I would not recommend seeing Dr. Schwartz until he gets his staff to a level of customer service he himself provides. I am stuck now because they took my old glasses, they took my money for a pair of new ones that don't work right so I have no choice but to continue dealing with them. Hopefully someone in the office cares and does the right thing. read more

Honestly, they deserve not even a one-star. I am so frustrated with their service I will never go back and will make sure no one I know will go here. The Doctor was great when I had my two exams one for a Lasik consult and another for pink eye. The individuals at the counter were polite and welcoming but it was only downhill from that. They are not upfront with their prices and claim they didn't know how much insurance would cover when my regular eye center Advanced Eye Care and Nationwide would tell me the price upfront. I was charged $713 on 11/19/21 and was told it would be here in a couple of weeks. I called them three times and left messages and never received an answer until I called once again. Upon arrival (1/5/22 much longer than the two weeks I was told) I sent my son to pick up the glasses they wanted an additional $215 that was never discussed to give us the glasses. We paid for it because I've already waited a while and needed them. To make things even worse, I received another bill in the mail for an additional $215..... again, this was NEVER discussed!!!! I have no idea where they are getting their numbers, but you would think on the day of purchase these "additional" charges would be discussed at the time of purchase and not blindside customers with extra charges. Go somewhere else and don't waste your time on false prices... I mean unless you enjoy getting high grossed by a bunch of conniving liars and thieves. read more

So after listening to the ads on KTAR I decided to give Dr. Schwartz and his team a go. I was having trouble seeing at night and also reading my phone and small print. Everything at the appointment was great! His team is top-notch. My only issue is that I ripped a contact because I have banana hands and am usually not as careful as I was told to be. The issue is once I ripped it I called two times and left messages asking if they could let me know the prescription so I could replace it. Bridget has reached out from the Dr.s office within minutes of my review. Wish my calls would have been returned but this works too. read more

My husband and I have both been patients here for over 5 years now. Top notch care, excellent customer service, and great prices. Brian Fleming has been a great go to person when you need something done quickly or any assistance if any kind. While we don't live in AZ anymore, we will most likely travel back to AZ for our annual visits as we don't think we could find this kind of care and quality anywhere else. read more
