First time appointment for eye issue, so glad I was referred by my GP, Dr Ahmad. Scheduled appointment, check in easy , cool ID machine, and taken in on time. Staff is great, friendly and felt comfortable talking with them. Eye examination was very thorough, tech, I think her name is Jessica, very nice and professional. This exam was most complete I'd ever had. Dr H (Haufman) examined and explained what was going on and reassured me. He sent list of drops to use and other instructions. Took my elderly mother to get a routine eye exam and she got diagnosed with cataracts, she felt rushed and pressured so we left and said we'd check our schedules to make the surgery dates. We have both called several times and after a month we still haven't heard back from anyone let alone a doctor, and STILL NO PRESCRIPTION, mom still doesn't have new glasses, ridiculous! Oh, this place has perfected the art of the cattle call. They book a crowd, shuffle you from room to room like you're on a slow-moving tour, and somehow turn a quick appointment into a 2-3 hour event. Don't worry though--you'll get your grand finale a few whole minutes with the doctor. If you actually value your time, you might want to look elsewhere. And the cherry on top? "No cell phone" signs everywhere... which is bold, considering you'll have plenty of time sitting around wishing you had something to do. read more

Wow!!! I went for an exam... I have had cataract surgery... so opted for an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist...noted the MANY irritated clients but continued with the exam... was sent through many different rooms as noted in the other rooms... the previous operators had neglected to check the Rx on my glasses so I had to ask the dr to check that for me... she had already said very little change in my Rx.. then she let me go without giving me my new Rx... just called & was told insurance does not pay for the refraction so I would need to come back in & have it re-done or pay an additional$65.00. Don't go here! Save yourself the irritation & frustration, find another office if you want a traditional ophthalmologist who includes everything in the charge. read more

Saw Dr Brown at Gilbert, baseline location. I had a tear duct plug inserted. Dr was unprofessional, and shaky. I have had plugs inserted before with no discomfort or pain. This Dr Todd Brown took a long time and my still eye hurts. Terrible! at one point I asked him to stop. He went back at it. My eye hurts and if it doesn't improve I will go elsewhere to have someone else see how he injured my eye. read more

During my visit on August 27, 2025, I attended the American Vision / Barnet Dulaney Perkins clinic with my elderly mother and my sister. Dr. Kacey entered the room with her assistant and spoke to us in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner. She continued this behavior in a second room, again with staff present, humiliating my mother, my sister, and me. She also mentioned a LinkedIn friend request, which is not true, and made inappropriate general comments about patients. Immediately afterward, Dr. Kacey issued a ban letter preventing me from accompanying my mother, and the clinic also barred my mother from care, which felt like discriminatory treatment and interfered with her access to essential services. I have filed complaints with the Arizona State Board of Optometry, HHS OCR, and Arizona Department of Health Services regarding this matter. I hope the clinic addresses these actions and ensures proper accountability for staff behavior to protect patients and caregivers. read more

I was seen by Dr. Gilford for a complete exam. Everyone in the office was very nice and let me know what was happening throughout the process. My whole appointment was around an hour from start to finish, which wasn't bad. I left knowing my eyes were healthy and got a new prescription. If I could give Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center zero stars, I would. I called to let office know I'd be a few minutes late due to construction. The woman on phone assured me that as long as I arrived within 15 minutes of appointment time, I would be seen. I arrived within 12 minutes of appointment and immediately checked in. After waiting 15 minutes, the front desk receptionist informed me the person who answered my call never relayed message. Therefore, she needed to ask the doctor if I could still be seen. HE SAID NO. This is a poorly run business with a doctor who doesn't honor office policy. There are many ophthalmologists in Phoenix to choose from. Don't choose this one. read more

The poor reviews didn't surprise me when I came to Yelp to write a review. Our experience with the BDP in Sun City was excellent during the time my husband and I both had cataract surgery - with the exception of an incorrect bill that they will not correct. (5 phone calls, a conversation with an admin manager at BDP Sun City). Because of a medication I am on, my doctors have specified that I see an Opthomologist 2x a year. I decided to make an appt at the Glendale location. My appt was with Dr. Stagner. He was brusque - not at all personable, and the very least he could've done is review why this exam is different. It was a long appt as I was shuttled to different exam rooms. At the end of the appt, Dr Stager told me to come back in a month for an additional test - without telling me why or what the test is or why it was being put off a month. I made an appt for a month away and the day before the appt, I get a call saying Dr Stagner is out, and they cancelled my appt. I called a few days later at set up another appt. When I arrived, they acted confused. They could not find my appt and explained Dr. Stagner isn't there (from website information that appears to be permanent). They deflected by saying the "call center made the appt." SO??? I told them this was a follow up appt and they needed to fit me in. Again, I was shuttled to several rooms and they appeared to be doing the SAME tests as before. I kind of chuckled and suggested they find out exactly why I was there and exactly what test was needed. They continued to test and I finally put a stop to it and asked them to find a doctor as I needed to consult with them. Dr. Kacey Gilford came in and we had a great conversation as she is very personable. I had to be honest and tell her this office is extremely inefficient. She assured me she would have my case going forward. Only after this conversation did I discover she is NOT an Opthomologist. She is an optometrist. This is not what I requested, and certainly not what my doctors expect. I have had the same optometrist for 20 years. When I discussed my medication with her, she said: "That is outside of my expertise. You will need an opthamologist and I will continue to be here for your vision needs." The exams I need are different and needed to protect my eyesight from medication side effects. I am going forward and finding a new ophthalmologist. I have no trust or confidence in BDP. read more

If you had your eye exam by Destiny Manning sometime around Oct 2024 after spending months going back and forth for eye surgery only to still not be able to see, that's because she did your eye exam incorrectly. Go back and get it rechecked and make sure your prescription is correct. If its not, make them pay for your new glasses. My mother had surgery and just assumed the tech knew what she was doing and figured this was as good as her vision would be after surgery only to find out the tech, WHO QUIT shortly after, wasn't doing her job properly. I will be reporting her to the state and contacting a lawyer due to the emotional distress this caused my mother for almost a year due to negligence. They are supposed to be getting her a new pair of glasses but its been over a week and WE had to call them. IT'S FINE BARNET DULANEY - SHE ONLY CAN'T SEE. Where's the urgency? After being evaluated at Barnett Dulaney Perkins eye center in Scottsdale for surgery options I need new glasses until having cataract surgery next year. I took new vision prescription as vision has changed dramatically to optician center at 5285 W. Bell Road. Roger R. Glendale AZ I came to this location on Bell Road because it is close to my home. I arrived the staff at the front desk were very nice and assisted me checking in. I didn't wait long before being called in. The initial tests went well with little wait time in between them and then I was put in a room to wait for the doctor. After a short time someone, who I assume was a doctor came in, looked at my chart and proceeded to do the exam. She never introduced herself, but completed it and wrote me a prescription. I decided to order two pair glasses there. I worked with Calvin who was great in getting the order ready. I decided to get no line bifocals. I picked them up two weeks later and at first they seemed OK, but after a few days I realized I could see better with the old glasses. I wore them for three weeks, thinking I needed to adjust, but that didn't happen. I went back to see Calvin. He checked them against the prescription and they were not correct and this told me no one did this when the lens were made. Poor quality control. Calvin suggested I get the traditional bifocals with the line and that was fine with me. He ordered new glasses. I picked them up about three weeks later and they are great. I can see much better than before and I am satisfied. I told Calvin that I knew no line bifocals cost more, so I should be getting a refund. He agreed and initiated the refund process. That was September 19. After waiting three weeks I called to inquire about the refund and was told it was in process and would be $290. I called a couple more times and was told the same. The last time I called, Nov. 6, I was told there was a credit, but it had not been sent. Really?? She processed it and it was on my credit card account Nov. 11, with two credits for $156 and $97.50, not $290. I only gave two stars because Calvin was so good to work with. read more

Worst first experience. Scheduled for an acute eye problem to see an opthamologist... told me I needed to be dilated for a full eye exam as a new patient. Explained I was unaware and that I'm a nail tech and have to go to work and need to see up close. She basically just said oh well nothing we can do. No options or anything just stonewalled. I won't be coming back and I'll be getting a new referral from my doctor. read more

Dr. Burns obviously does not trust his employees to do any of the testing. I went to check my eyes for diabetic retinopathy and to get a prescription for glasses. I have glaucoma and allergies. My eye has been swollen and red for the last 3 months and nothing that was given by optometrists worked. Finally went to ENT and he recommended steroid shot, but asked me to contact Opthalmologist to get his opinion, since steroid shot can increase pressure and might adversely affect glaucoma. I called three times: left messages and Opthalmologist never called me back. I did not get that allergy shot. My eye is still red (still taking antibiotics prescribed by optometrist) and this is second time I am running into a problem with this office. I need to find a different ophthalmology office. read more

I agree with Lauren. I have been seen at Dulaney for about nine months for cataract in one eye. They herd people back and forth and you wait and wait. Yesterday I did not get into see a Dr. until sitting for over one hour. Then they take you in to see a technician, Then that technician takes you back to wait again to see another technician!. After several hours I finally see the surgeon I had the appt. with. I was told medical issues that I should have been told by the doctor I originally saw for my condition. I thought the surgeon was absolutely negative and only looked at me when talking 2-3 times. After all of that time then you see a counselor....they discuss cost and give you brochures and misc. information on your condition. I have seen a 'counselor' three times now. I have no idea why they need you to see a different technician for every test. A lot of people were complaining about the process used to move patients around.
