I would hopefully see both far and near. I had the surgeries done about a month apart at his surgical clinic. The surgical clinic's staff creates a very clean and comfortable environment and I felt at ease. After the surgeries and after "locking in" the final adjustment, I now have 20/15 vision in my dominant eye, and I can read the smallest print on Dr. Kootman's card. It is amazing. I was also in a car accident. The doctor did not think there was any relationship to the inflammation in the eye. They ended up getting a check out of my settlement for $1000 and we've been going back-and-forth. Insurance paid for everything. I informed the doctor I had a workplace injury. He did not take it serious even though he had all the doctors notes and passed notes from previous doctors with no other issues except for my underline glaucoma. He was subpoenaed when they asked him about the scarring in the eye he said there was none and then I reminded him, and then he did admit there was scarring. I went to another doctor showed her all the doctors notes and she sat down, took several days and put all the different information together instead of my Doctor putting all the notes together and going over everything with me. He keeps telling me I did not have any issues related to my injury, especially after another doctor stated this because he does not want to deal with Workers Comp in injuries. He also knows the doctors that treated me in the past and since they all know each other, this is a big problem! The Billing office and they tried saying the payment for $1000 was part of his council to the ICA. I informed them this was not $1000 fee and it was something that should not have went to the doctor it should have came back to me for my accident I had in my settlement. Dr. Reiss nothing to do with my settlement nor they should not have $1000 and being dishonest about it after my health insurance paid for my treatment and I paid my co-pays. I do not know what they're trying to pull, but they are not working in good faith.

When we arrived we waited for 2 1/2 hours he then proceeded with the laser not checking whether I was still numb enough-I was NOT. I screamed with pain & told them to stop. He then proceed with a regular cataract removal without consulting me. No apology what's so ever. Ever since that time I have problems with my right eye. I asked to see Dr. Patel but they shoved me off to a young Optometrist. Never saw the Dr. again. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely unprofessional and concerning. From the beginning, the front desk staff seemed uninterested in helping patients and were more focused on singing, joking around, and making fun of people. As a new patient, I had to ask how to check in because no one properly greeted or assisted me. The most concerning part was my eye dilation. Before the drops were given to me, I specifically asked if I would be safe to drive afterward, and I was told YES. When additional drops were given, I asked AGAIN if I could drive and was reassured that I would be fine. After my appointment, nobody explained what to expect from the dilation, warned me about severe light sensitivity, or gave me the protective glasses I was supposed to receive. As soon as I stepped outside, my eyes started burning badly and I could barely keep them open. I struggled just to make it to my car. When I called the office, they admitted that they FORGOT to give me the protective glasses. What made the situation even worse was the response I received when I complained. Instead of taking responsibility, I was told that I "should have known" my eyes were going to be dilated and that I should have known I needed glasses. How would I know? I was a NEW PATIENT, I had never experienced this before, and I specifically asked the medical staff TWICE whether I would be safe to drive. I ended up waiting outside for approximately TWO HOURS because I did not feel safe driving and had nobody available to pick me up. This goes beyond bad customer service. This is about patient communication and safety. Patients rely on medical professionals to explain procedures, side effects, precautions, and aftercare. A patient should never be blamed for not knowing information that the medical staff failed to provide. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled, especially after I asked for help and tried to make a complaint. I hope management takes this seriously so another patient does not have the same experience. And I will also call my insurance for a compliant regarding this eye center
