I have been looking everywhere for a place that cuts men's hair very well. This is definitely the place to get a great haircut! I wished I could have found this place sooner. I got my haircut from Katherine. She was very friendly to my wife and myself from start to finish. She is very professional and skilled. She definitely knows her stuff. She gave me suggestions on how to make my hair look better. She would make sure if I was ok with her suggestions before anything was done. While she was cutting my hair, she was able to point out certain areas that needed to be cut back and/or brought out more. She is very skilled with the clippers when working with the top. First of all I am the pickiest person you will EVER meet about my hair. I am so unbelievably impressed that someone perfected my request! I've never been more satisfied. I just moved to Nashville and was terrified of visiting a new salon. At first I couldn't get in touch with any local hairstylist and started to get nervous just about that. When Kerri called me back she made me feel a ton better just over the phone by number one being the only salon to return my call and number two being so sweet to help me schedule an appointment at a convenient time. From the time I walked in to walking out the door, I felt so welcome, like I'd been going there for years. Kerri was so attentive and careful with every section of hair that even the foils looked fabulous Normally when I get highlights I leave with dry, damaged looking hair, but it's softer now than before the highlights! Fantastic! I'm working in Nashville this summer, and my hair grows like a weed. After being here for two months, I found myself in dire need of a good hair cut. Unfortunately, Asian hair is unlike other hair textures, and requires a significant amount of care and attention to detail, or else it doesn't turn out well. Thankfully, Kathryn is great at cutting Asian hair! After scheduling an appointment with her a week ago, I was able to meet up with her today for a haircut. Reasonably priced at $20, Kathryn provides a great hair cut AND great conversation. She is so polite and friendly, and makes getting a haircut a completely stress-free process. It was a pleasant experience for me to get my hair cut and meet someone new at the same time. If I lived in Nashville or returned again for an extended period of time, I would for sure come back to SS to get another hair cut! I would highly recommend trying them out! read more

Absolutely love my Halo Couture Hair extensions! Kathryn was beyond helpful and her attention to detail is amazing. Not only did she make sure the color match was dead on she also customized it for me by cutting and styling the extensions to ensure that it looked completely natural. I decided to get two different links so that I could be more versatile. I have naturally curly hair, but never was comfortable wearing it down because it is very fine and can be a little bit thinner in the front. Kathryn suggested that I start with the shorter ones I so we could create fullness and made it look like naturally curly hair by wrapping the hair around a small curling iron (see pictures below). I also use the shorter one when I want to only add volume to my hair and not that much length as it is not much longer than my natural hair. I was so in love with the short Halo and my experience with Kathryn that I decided I needed the longer one as well! Once again she did not disappoint. It's so fun and absolutely the easiest extensions I have ever tried! I have had tape in and clip in extensions in the past, but these are by far my favorite. Not only does it look extremely real (because of Kathryn's customization) it's so easy to take on and off. I highly recommend the Halo extensions and Kathryn. read more

I'm a bald dude. I shave my head. I proudly hadn't paid for a hair cut in at least two years, when I decided to impulsively "treat myself" to a shave by a professional. Hey, they gave me a free beer with the cut, so that's legit! Anyway, she used clippers (I prefer it that way, anyway. Razors can hurt!) and paid attention to every little detail - making sure not to miss any spots. Then, she went above and beyond - gave me the full shampoo treatment and a bit of a scalp massage - and once dried, gave me a nice lotion+oil layer that smelled nice and gave my noggin a pleasant sheen. Both gals are really nice, too. I'm glad I went to them for my first haircut in years - it'll likely be the only one I have for quite awhile. If/when I do again, I'll be sure to stop at Scissor Sisters. read more

I could sit here and go on about how awesome the atmosphere is (including the cool building it's in, along with Clawson's Pub & Deli, also fantastic), how great it is to be offered a drink on the way in the door, how refreshing it was to have a conversation with my stylist where I'm not talking to a stranger, and instead meeting/visiting a friend. But... I'm a guy. writing this review for guys. So here ya go, guys: Kathryn is great. I honestly forgot I was getting my hair cut. She was like a surgeon, working each little group of tips to provide texture. Guys, if you don't know, THAT's one of the biggest differences between cheap haircut factories and real salon pros - pros give texture. Factories are one half-step above a bowl cut. Plus, judge me as you will, but I tend to feel like I look better when a beautiful woman cuts my hair, as though she puts the swagger in herself :). Just sayin'. I challenged her to do something different than the "2 on the sides, finger thick on top" I've gotten for almost 30 years. She nailed it, creating a new look I've never really had while still keeping it close to my 'normal' haircut so I didn't freak out :). Finally, $. The price is more than fair, especially after finding out what other stylists are charging in town (it was less than that). I won't list it in case they want to change it, but another salon regarded as "a great deal" quoted $45 "for the least expensive stylist's basic cut". My cut, shampoo and style was well less than that including tip and while I spent more than I would at a hair factory, it was worth every penny and (being that I had the same cut for 3 decades) I'm not one who normally sees the value in spending more than that... This, this was a $100 cut, plain and simple. (I got one once as a prize... really, I'm pretty sure this cut was better than that one). Go here. Support them. This is the type of business Nashville needs to support. Smart, cool, nice, awesome, talented, and priced so that people who aren't buying $400k 800sf houses (ya dummies) can look awesome too! And hey Sisters - if Nashville doesn't end up working for ya, I know at least one of you who'd consider Vegas :). read more

My hubby and I moved from Los Angeles 2 years ago and have been searching for a good salon that knows how to cut and dye Asian hair well. When we moved to Nashville, my hubby went from going to the known barbershop, Floyds 99, to Sports Clips... and for myself I would wait for my next trip back to LA to get my hair cut. Reluctant to give a review and have Kathryn be unavailable but here goes. Used to go to Trim and a place in Atlanta. While I received great cuts, scheduling was a bear and the prices were expensive. It took a while, but I think I've finally found my regular place! Kathryn is awesome. The haircut always looks great! Clippers just really don't work with my hairstyle, and she always does a great scissor cut and thin (super-thick hair here). Kerri has been cutting my hair since before the sisters opened their salon. I'm hard to please when it comes to hair-cuts. Generally, If I walk into a barber or salon and the first question is "What number?", I get up and leave! Kerri is one of the few stylists I have ever met that really gets how to cut guys hair with scissors! Once my wife noticed that I kept going back to same place, she decided to give them a try as well. I travel into Nashville frequently for work, and needed a cut bad. I decided I would try a place close to where I typically stay and yelp had some good reviews. First, the place is hard to find, not a big sign and essentially looks like walking into a house, but this should no deter you from visiting. Both sisters were extremely funny, outgoing, entertaining and made me feel really comfortable. Oh, and there first question as soon as I walked in was, "Do you want a beer." Now that is never bad. This was one of the best hair care experiences I've had. The atmosphere was fun and laid back, and she knew exactly what to do to make my hair work for my head and face. I received a number of compliments on the cut, and most folks said they thought the style was very complimentary. She didn't try to upsell me on products at all, but used a great product (Osis Dust It) to style me and showed me how it worked.
