I found this delightful, group of professional s by looking to see Chattanooga's best. I needed some color correction and gave vey short notice of my availability. This team of professionals stated, based on the description of my color and conditioning needed they preferred to do a consult I order to accurately determine if they could help the issue and meet my expectations of the out come. They came up with a great idea send pictures it my current hair color and they would take a look discuss if within 24 hours they could help get the color corrected and try to keep it from fading so quickly. I just moved here from Chicago and desperately needed a trim so I made an appointment here based on the reviews. I just needed a basic trim and asked for some subtle layers, we also talked about maybe having the back a little shorter and angling like a long lob, but again very subtle. I was going rock climbing right after the appointment so I didn't get my hair styled and didn't fully notice the full effect until 2 days later when getting ready for my friends wedding... The left side of my hair looks completely different from the right!! The left side looks more like what we discussed, trimmed with a few layers, but the right...choppy, chunky, gigantic layers!! There is one section that is a solid 7 inches shorter than the longest section!! I don't even understand how it could have ended up so wrong and different. It's going to take me forever to grow my hair out and get back to a place where my hair doesn't look so terrible. Thank God I work at a place where my hair is in a ponytail most of the time. I walked in very nervous, I'm not going to lie. It's rare that I leave a salon feeling beautiful. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately offered a beverage and directed to a beautiful seating area. While I waited, I was provided with the WiFi password as well. After less than five minutes, my stylist, Rachel, walked up and shook my hand. Once directed to her work area, which had a BEAUTIFUL refurbished vanity, we had a heart to heart about how I wanted to feel when I left the salon. Being someone that is very involved with maintaining a positive mental health, that question meant a lot to me. Once we got down to business, she sent me to the bathroom to change out of my sweater and into a provided garment so I wouldn't ruin it from coloring. Rachel listened to what I wanted and gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. Everything from the massage chair while my color processes to the amazing scalp massage while rinsing my hair was amazing. To add to that, if anyone is tender headed, this is the salon for you. I went from a blonde with a lot of hair damage to a deep brunette with silky, smooth hair. Miracles happen in this salon. Plus, the huge fiddle leaf fig and additional greenery makes the perfect touch. Went here once a while ago and liked it a lot, but I've gotten the same stylist the last two times after not specifying a particular one and been disappointed both times. Tracy didn't seem to listen to what I asked for and I showed her multiple pictures for styling purposes... the end result was not at all close to what I'd asked for and didn't like the haircut either. Very disappointed to pay for styling (just wanted it curled) and had to end up having a friend do it for me after the appointment. Nice salon though! read more

I am new to the area so based on reviews I went for a haircut to this salon for the first time. The stylist I requested, the one who is popular in the reviews, did not have an appointment so I got another stylist. Based on her hesitation I figured she is relatively new in the profession. The trim was not satisfactory so I had to show her how I want my hair cut a few times. Even for thr layers I had to explain in 5 different ways how I want them cut so that they would look neat. The way she had initially trimmed them showed me no neatness in my layers. So I had to ask her to improvise. That is alright but when it came to the bangs I pointed out the length with my hand, on my face, so that there is no confusion. I wanted the bangs till middle of my face length. She literally held the bangs which were longer than my face and cut them in half, about 80% shorter than what I asked her. She apologized like a million times and I did not want to create a scene so I said it's okay. She gave me $5 off but that is not going to bring my bangs back. Every day when I go through so much trouble trying to make those stupid looking bangs a little better, I feel very irritated hence the review. I would steer clear of this salon. read more

I called in to make an appointment and they booked me with Debbie (Deborah) the next day. I was going in for a drastic cut, my hair was below my shoulder blades and I cut it above my shoulders. So I was a bit nervous but wanted to just go for it. Debbie was super thorough and really took the time to look at the photos of what I was going for and making sure we both understood the length I was going for. After she cut and styled my hair she had me put my hair up, flip it around and mess with it to make sure everything looked good. She made a few adjustments to cater to my wavy/curly/straight hair type and didn't rush my haircut at any point. I live on the west coast but visit Chatt often and will definitely be seeing her whenever I'm in town. She is very personable and really wants to make sure you leave confident in your new cut! College girl messes up hair and knows it, goes to The Strand to see Tracy Fiore for a consult feeling pretty embarrassed. Is well-aware of the disaster and willing to pay. Tracy berated and humiliated said college girl, laughed at the pic she was trying to achieve, and called over some others in the salon saying "you gotta see this" and "you know you have 4 colors on your head, right?" and on and on. College girl is my child, and she had no idea what to say, left with no consult, no help - went to her car and cried, couldn't get out of there fast enough. Decided to call Ulta, met a nice stylist who treated her with dignity, happily paid a lot of $ to repair her mishap, won't ever go back to The Strand. We called the owner who said he would watch the films of that day and 'look into it' - he never called us back. He had an opportunity to repair the situation but he obviously rolled his eyes at a mom calling and never gave it another thought. Horrible customer treatment and service. Not looking for a freebie, just wanted an apology or some acknowledgment of the situation. I'm sure they do great hair, but the lack of compassion they show to their clients is not worth it. Just passing through Chattanooga, Yelped hair salons, picked this one because it was close. Really cool atmosphere here, they are a "green" salon. I felt pampered, separate room for processing, with message chairs, they offer you beverages, and keep checking to see if you needed anything.
