Very happy to have found Scissors and Suds. I was a bit wary, at first, because the appointment scheduled was very open, sort of like between this time and that time. Also, when I walked in, they had me put my dog in a crate. So, I left her there to get her grooming, but I was worried. Needless to say, there was no reason to worry. Firstly, they finished sooner than I thought , and my dog was waiting patiently in the same crate, when I arrived, and she looked and smelled perfect. The ladies that attended me were very approachable and her groomer followed my grooming request. I'll also add, that right after I arrived, there must've been at least four more people dropping off multiple dogs, so it seems the Scissors and Suds has a good amount of regulars. Best part, there wasn't a wait of a week to get my dog groomed. They took her the same week I called. read more

This place is outstanding. If you have a four legged family member this is the place to take them. From the moment I walked in I was treated with respect and kindness. The staff is so professional and comforting. I've been using the same groomer for the last two years and now I found a better place to take our Shakira. I told the groomer what I wanted and not only did she listen but knocked it out of the park. Doesn't matter where you live if you love your pet go here. You simply won't be disappointed. No need to try other places these folks treat your pet as if it was their own. Thanks guys for going out of your way to make me a believer. EV was absolutely wonderful with my huge Pyrenees puppy, Donnie. He was being a straight bootyhole and she was able to handle him with care and make sure he got his nails clipped and his fur floofy and soft. Called last minute with laberdoodle (harder to groom) and was super nice to allow us to drop our dog off - great job and very kind!!

Unfortunately I can't give no stars....but I want to share my recent experience with this groomer. First, I have used this groomer before and they were very nice but this time (FIRST RED FLAG) the gentleman was acting irritated disturbed and put upon during the intake of my dog...As I was handing over my dog (SECOND RED FLAG) he stated "I remeber him I had to muzzle him last cut" I mention that my dog.may be little anixious he corrected me and side "no he's [pointing to my dog] aggressive"...(THIRD RED FLAG) after the last groom I was never told that my pet had to be restrianed by a muzzled...my dog has been groomed at petco petland and mobile groomers without ever having to been muzzled...so I have to question what happen to my dog during the last visit to require a muzzle...I support local businesses but I will not be coming back to this establishment and I will be more diligent in screening future groomers. It's not the muzzeling I have a problem with but not being told about it being done e.g. hiding the fact that they relie on muzzle instead of behavioral techniques at controlling the animal being groomed. I would like to have known the criteria for requiring muzzle....was it for convenience of the groomer or for the groomers safety....I would support the later not the former...No Stars....so be careful when you entrust your pet and ask for the criteria for muzzling....beware pets can't speak but hopefully this review will help others make an informed decision on where.tjey want to spend their hard earned money.... read more

Talented and patient dog groomers! It took a long time for me to find a groomer that could handle the heavy coat on my Samoyed show dog. Double coated breeds need special care and a patient groomer that is willing to put in the effort. The staff at Scissors and suds always makes sure to comb out my dogs coat throughly before and after bathing to prevent matting. They groom her every two weeks and keep her coat looking beautiful and to the standard specifically for the show ring. They are also extremely patient with her and her excitable nature. read more

The shop on Tezel Rd, first two visits for grooming to this salon were okay, but the cut my dog received yesterday (10/18/16) was terrible. The employee apparently doesn't know what part of the dog is the muzzle. Turned my Shih Tzu to a rat terrier, scalped him. Offered $10 off of next cut, really??? Maybe they should take that $10 and invest it in training on how to groom a dog. Very disappointing. read more

This is the absolute WORST business in San Antonio. I called last Saturday and spoke with a middle aged woman who was very kind and walked me though what different kinds of cuts I could get. I explained that it's his first hair cut so he may be nervous. She quoted me $90. I called on my way this morning and spoke with the same middle aged woman and was told my appointment was yesterday and I missed it. I explained that I wouldn't have scheduled for Thursday since I'm off on Fridays. I asked if they had avaliablilty today and was told yes. When I showed up an older woman told me that I missed my appointment. I explained that I had called and was told he could come today. She was rude and told me she guessed she could squeeze him in. I was informed when they called to say he was ready that they only accept cash or check. When my husband went pick him up, I told him it was $90 and I asked him to take $100 to leave a tip. Upon arriving, he was told the cost was $110 because he was difficult and had fleas. Weird because he just saw his vet yesterday and there was no problems and I did explain that it was his first haircut. Regardless, my husband went to get the extra $10. When he returned, the lady said that it was $119 with taxes. He didn't have $119 because she said it was $110. He told her this and she began to argue and say our dog is not well taken care of and he's bad. My husband asked where there was a sign stating there could be extra charges and she said "it's my business, I can charge whatever I want." He asked why we weren't called if he was being difficult and weren't informed when they found the fleas. She said "it's my business so I don't have to." Then she proceeded to say that my dog bit her, but couldn't show proof. My husband said that if he bit you, you should've called me and all dog bites should be reported to ACS. She then said she was going to keep our dog if she wasn't paid the $119. After some back and forth and her mentioning many times that "it's my business I can do whatever I want," she agreed to accept the $110. His haircut looks amazing. She's a great groomer, but an awful business owner. Don't run a cash run business and then change the prices when I show up with the correct amount of cash. Do yourself a favor and avoid this business. Oh and don't worry about commenting how I'm a liar and how awful my dog is because it will only make you look stupid. read more
