La Cafetería de la Chapultepec is one of these new options. It has good coffee and varied options for breakfast, from pancakes (called hot cakes in Mexico) to panini, including some meatless options. It might be out of the tourist area of Avenida Heroes or the Bay, but that's a good thing, because you know you'll be eating at a place where locals eat. And, it's only a 5 minute walk from the famous Hotel Los Cocos, or about a 10-minute walk from the Museo de la Cultura Maya. If you were wondering, my favorite combo is a cappuccino and pancakes.

As soon as I walked in, I was in love. The ambiance couldn't be more perfect as it's is located inside an open air hotel amidst beautiful yurts, a pool, and a yoga studio. The food is incredible; original, fresh and inventive. The avocado toast on homemade sourdough with fresh tomatoes and seeds plated with a balsamic glaze and an egg on top steals the show. The shakshuka is perfectly made and comes served in a skillet. I had a green coconut smoothie that was perfectly made every time and a made to order coffee any way you like. They also have reliable wi-fi and I comfortably worked at my table. And the best part? The prices are actually reasonable! That's a rare find in Tulum! The stars of the show however are David and Paola who run the cafe. They are so sweet and hospitable, and I enjoyed coming to see them. My girlfriend and I came here for our last meal of the trip. We were running late so not only did David and Paola rush the food order for us, but they even gave us a large cookie for the road! The best part about this place is the FREE WIFI that they give you for every purchase. No matter how much you spend, they will give you a slip with the internet password. I bought $2 churros and they gave me two slips for free wifi, so kind! Also, there is no time limit to these internet connections; I was probably sitting there for over an hour and it was greeeaattt!! I mean, a girl has got to catch up on all her social media that she was missing all week while being on a boat in the middle of the ocean, right? The internet speed was fast enough for me to upload my photos onto Yelp and check-in here to earn my Mexico badge--yaaay! Aside from the wifi, they make the food fresh and homemade.
