this place has a nice vibe. had nice jamaican music flowing.. looks clean and the ambience was uplifting. thats what attracted me to this corner. (located in the galleria mall where nathans grill used to be in the far corner of the food court). this place is a gem food is so good. authentic. tasty. tender. service was excellent . the server gave me a large portion of food. i ordered rice and beans, cabbage , and curry chicken. wow. just wow. i cant believe they have this at the galleria mall in MIDDLETOWN - not your typical fastfood gross food you get at the mall. it reminds me of homemade food your mom makes. so delicious. they also had patties on display. i will def be back. so excited for this store. i hope they do well so i can eat this when im craving jamaican food read more

HIT OR MISS! I have gone here and the food was very good, but sometimes it was not so. The "common denominator" for my not so great experiences is that the later you go, the quality of the food goes down. Occasionally, I will go in for lunch on a weekday around 12-12:30 PM and the food is great as it was not out for very long at that point. I have also gone in the late afternoon amd early evenings amd the food has been dried out or almost to the point of burnt from sitting out all day. I give it 3 stars as the food is good (when you go early). So, if you want to check it out, I reccomend you go as early as possible! read more

So have to come through Middletown more than I like and unfortunately my issue plenty of times is no place decent to eat, but today was such a treat. Can't even remember the last time i been to that mall, but Scotch is so needed and i would presume welcome by my fellow West Indians. This spot was highly recommend by my dogs groomer Ken. OMG....he was on point because i am not gonna lie i was real skeptical. The owner is mad cool and full of personality. I sure hope he will be around for some time. I'm upset , i went to get food from scotch bonnet just now and no one is there. I see food on burners. I actually just wanted a beef patty. I called the number someone answers "hello, how may I help you?" I start talking and they hung up on me. I called back maybe got disconnected and no answer just rings. Middletown could really use a good Caribbean restaurant as a number of them have come and gone. Scotch Bonnet is a welcome site. Located in the mall it's limited to mall hours. I ordered 2 curry chicken rice and peas. I must say the food was very flavorful and well seasoned. My complaint is that the chicken lacked any meat...mostly boney parts. No thighs or legs. Maybe I went to late in the afternoon but it was a rainy dreary day not many people in the mall or food court.I ordered a large oxtail dinner and got more rice than anything with gravy and bones very little meat to be seen. I figured since they weren't busy I would get a better serving.The gravy was very good so maybe next time if I go back which would be my third time, (the first time same thing rice,gravy and small bones maybe 3 with meat on another large oxtail dinner order) I'll just ask for rice with gravy. read more

This was the first time eating here. I ordered the small Curry Goat with steamed vegetables, Rice and Peas, a couple pieces of fFried Chicken and one Beef Patty. The food was Awesome, large quantity, very authentic Jamaican food with Jamaican flavors. This took my taste buds down memory lane. Even the patty was Krusty and tasty. Great food minus the Mac and cheese which is the only reason I do not give it 5 stars. The portion size is worth the price and the taste is amazing. Slow service. There was no one in line ahead of me and there seemed to be only one girl taking orders, preparing the dishes, and ringing people up. She also made a face when ordered my food (like i ordered something incorrectly), even after I told her I've never been there before. No prices listed on the menu for their wraps, and I was unpleasantly surprised that the jerk chicken wrap I ordered was $15... for a mall food court! The spice on the chicken was delicious with a nice kick, but lots of bones in it, so I had to chew delicately. She even asked me if i wanted the chicken cut off the bone. Like, really? The food is okay with good flavor but the serving of a lot rice and a few pieces of meat, 3 or 4 pieces if you're lucky, is hurtful. They want you to spend $14 for rice and skimpy pieces of meat.
