They are one of the only bbq places left in the USA that uses the whole hog. But it's not just that the food here that makes the restaurant unforgettable, it's the family behind it. We live near Houston, TX, and we were on our way home after a family vacation in the Smokey Mountains. Our teenage son heard about this place on you tube, so we stopped there for lunch, and it is amazing! I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and the rest of the family ate pork ribs and pork sandwiches. We ordered sides of beans and coleslaw and everything tasted great! This is more of a barbeque sandwich shop than a restaurant. They serve pulled pork or chicken sandwiches with your choice of potato chips or grocery-store-style mustard potato salad. I ordered the "Jumbo" size sandwich and it was definitely loaded with meat. The pork is a bit plain and dry so be sure to order extras on your sandwich, like onion, the spicy sauce, and the vinegar or mayo slaw - the amount of slaw served on the sandwich was disappointing, about a tabelspoonful. I was just passin through and decided to stop based on a local recommendation. From the outside, this place doesn't look like much, but don't let that fool you. This is serious bbq. As I walked in, there was a decent line to order. They get you ordered and served very very quickly. I didn't wait much at all. The people were very friendly even though it seemed a little busy. I got the pulled pork w/slaw and hot bbq. I love bbq and I am always searching for a place with a good sauce. This place nailed the hot bbq. Perfect for me as I love hot sauces. One of the last whole hog BBQ place left in the country and these folks know how to do it as well or better than everybody. My sandwich of choice is a jumbo, chopped, with mayo slaw and a healthy dash of their hot sauce. Truly divine. The prices are very fair for the amount of food that you get. They sell out by 6 or so every day so keep that on mind. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but a good BBQ place ain't supposed to be. Stopped here yesterday while passing through town. The building was pretty cool and nicely decorated. However the BBQ was the worst I have even eaten. It was COLD, dry, tough, and absolutely flavorless. I felt like it was leftover. The 2 drops of sauce they put on it weren't enough to make difference. When they asked what side I wanted I asked if their potato salad was mustard or mayo based. They said mustard. I told them I like mayo so I would take chips but said I'd like slaw on the sandwich. I had just heard them ask my buddy if he wanted mayo or vinegar slaw. Well guess what, they piled vinegar slaw on my sandwich soaking the bread into a soup. I ate about a third of the soggy sandwich using the toothpick as a fork. It's all I could choke down until my canned Coke ran out. They ONLY have pulled pork and chicken beast. No brisket, no ribs, no sausage. With such a limited menu it seems they could focus on what they cook and get it right. Last thing, there was signs in the store proclaiming, "We now have sweet and unsweet tea!" like the recipe to it was a lost treasure they had uncovered. The lady with us ordered it only to be told, "we aren't doing tea today." What?! Is it that hard to make? Did you once again misplace the recipe? read more

We had Scott's cater our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. Everything was fabulous! They had all of the food ready on time and were so very kind during this entire process. We had pork for BBQ sandwiches, coleslaw, green beans, baked beans and potato casserole. Buns and sauces were also included. This was some of the best tasting food all around. The meat has just the correct mixture of lean and fat to make it not too greasy and not too dry. It was just right. As a local, I've eaten at Scott's quite a lot. There's a lot of people that live here that do the same. There's a reason: they have the best barbeque in this area, with the awards to prove it. Now best in the state? Country, even? That's up to you. I've had quite a bit of barbeque in my time, from Florida, Alabama, Georgia, all the way out to Texas, and I haven't had any to top theirs yet. They know barbeque. The sauces they have compliment the meat perfectly; their potato salad is great, homemade even. The barque on the hog is perfect! Flavorful, with just enough juice to make it amazing. The meat is juicy, fresh (it's cooked out back in an old fashioned smokehouse), and full of flavor. They pull it or chop it for you, put it on a bun, or give it to you by itself; heck, they'll even fix you up some BBQ nachos, if you want. They do occasionally run out though, due to their popularity, especially in the summer. The only way to experience the great food, rustic feel, and amazing staff is to eat there and see for yourself. This is a real slice of old-South Americana, of my memories of Southern Barbecue at its finest. This little "hole-in-the-wall" shack looks like the last place in the world to find the best barbecue you are likely to find anywhere. This is barbecue that is slowly cooked the way I remember when I was a child. The taste is definitely what I remember from my childhood, a taste I thought was lost forever to posterity. The people here are friendly, courteous, accommodating and will answer any questions one may have about their food and its preparation. If you have a few moments to spare and there is not a line out the door, ask about the history of the shop. It will warm your heart, and you will understand fully why this is the best barbecue in the area, in the state, in the USA. There are sides to enjoy with the barbecue: potato salad, baked beans and cole slaw. Stop by and take-out or sit in the little covered lean-to dining area. It's really bare-bones dining, but the barbecue is top-notch. When you drop by Scott's Parker's Barbeque, your taste buds are in for a real Southern treat. This barbecue also freezes well for future snacks or meals, which I usually always do because I purchase more than one meal, usually three (3) pounds of barbecue at a time. If you are not totally stuffed with barbecue, try one of their delicious "fried pies", or take a few home to enjoy later. These pies are delicious right out of the package, or a heavenly delight when warmed either in the microwave or as I prefer, wrapped in foil and warmed slowly in a 250 degree oven to your own desired level of heat/hot.
