So Scotties is adjacent to a gas station and my expectations were low. I was completely wrong. It is spacious, it is warm and inviting with Christian Country playing and lovely servers like Leah who could not be nicer. Homemade fare, large portions, you will never leave hungry and at unexpected prices. Two people eat easily for 30.00 with leftovers. Then there's dessert, you won't have room but just another to go bag of homemade deliciousness. I highly recommend, don't let the exterior fool you, there's magic inside. read more

My wife and I had the loaded potato wedges as an appetizer, and the Monster Burger as the main course as well as a side of onion rings. After unbuckling my belt and taking a deep breath ‍ I somehow made room for a couple of bites of this slice of humongous chocolate butter finger cake The service was great , the restaurant could use some updating but not if you need to sacrifice food quality. Surprised but yet oh so impressed! Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. The staff and food are amazing. Huge portions, home cooked goodness and reasonable prices make this a spot we return to time and time again. Huge menu- something for everyone. The tea is just right!! Salad bar is what caught my eye. We left absolutely stuffed but oh so happy. My man has hush puppies and fried catfish, the salad bar was enough for me but everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. Will be back for sure. Plenty of parking. The food is so good, personally I don't enjoy employee chitchat while I'm eating. Waitress station noisy, never been there w/o hearing about a staff dentist appt, latest break up, or AC going out. Our lunch group of six went here today. Arrived at 11:30 and grabbed a large booth for six. Waitress was right on top of things and took our orders. Three ordered hamburgers with onion rings. One ordered the Salad bar and a Cuban Panini. One ordered the Super Sub with onion rings and one order of the Fish and Chips. I can't believe the amount of food. The guys with onion rings must've had 10 or more rings. 1/2 lb hamburgers on a great looking bun. I think it was $9.95 or something like that and a couple dollars for a tea. I was just at Red Robin the other day and we ordered a small tower of onion rings...I think they gave us five, from small to large on the tower. Three pieces of catfish with a tone of raw fries done crispy. The super sub was huge. My friend had to take home half of it. I must say the Cuban Panini was the only thing that didn't look like it really was an official Cubban sandwich. Served on a toasted type bread that really wasn't panini'd very much. Food is great, service was good, and everyone seemed to be satisfied. We've been here many times before but hadn't been back for quite some time. Good to see it's not changed. And the cakes in the front display? Don't get me started on those. Gigantic Cakes. You could feed an army with one of these. After reading the great reviews about this place, my wife and I were excited to visit and have a salad for lunch today after our round of golf. We arrived, were not greeted, found a seat after being told to sit anywhere and then were promptly ignored by staff. We helped ourselves to menus and waited for help to take our orders. 8-10 mins later we stood up and said enough is enough and walked out searching for another restaurant. There are many other restaurants in the area who may want our hard earned dollar. Sad we could not leave a more favorable review. read more

ROMEO group of nine went here today. Last time we were here was right after Covid, 2022. Scottie's has changed their menu since then and now have opened up the Buffett salad bar. The waitress set up a table for nine seating and took our drinks. We ordered (2) Gyro sandwiches, (2) Italian Subs, Cheeseburger, Hamburger, Souvlaki Chicken sandwich, three piece catfish and a Cheeseburger. The amount of food and size of the sandwich are very large...great amount of food and the cost is reasonable. The Gyros were full of meat and good. The Cheeseburger guy gave it a rating of 5! The Italian Subs were huge, but we wished they would've been heated ( I don't know if they would've done that if asked). The three piece Catfish were three very large Filets and excellent. Nice batter that was crispy, yet not too thick. All in all we gave the rating a 3.5 overall. This has been one of our favorites for many years. We will of course be returning. read more

Heard so many great things about this place so my boyfriend and I decided to try it. Showed up for lunch. Great service. Food was so so. We both had a Scotty's Beef Philly and a Scotty's Chicken Philly. After about the 3rd bite my boyfriend took from his sandwich, he bit into something hard. Looked like a piece of bone. He even chipped his tooth. After that, neither one us us could finish our sandwich. Fries were good but cold. Came here off a recommendation. Cute place with a small town feel. They have anything you can think of - pizza, italian, Greek, burgers, sandwiches, salads and soups. We ordered a small French dip with fries and Greek salmon salad. The portions were huge! You definitely get what you pay for and then some. The food was tasty and, of course, we had leftovers. Next visit we will most likely share a meal. Although they say they have beer if you look online, but they let their license lapse due to the uncertainty of the pandemic. Letdown. Our waitress was MIA half the time, with there being only a handful of tables occupied for the three waitresses. The other waitress helped us more than our own. Had to give back my wife's burger as it had a piece of saran wrap on it. Fries were certainly the cheapest crinkle cut fries. The window ledge at our table had a dead bug or two, and the lights over the salad bar looked like they were becoming bowls full of dead bugs. Definitely wouldn't recommend. You can definitely tell the attentive treatment the "regulars" get vs Joe blow off the street. Unorganized front area. If you've never eaten here you just stand there waiting to be seated until someone in a hurry tells you to just sit somewhere. Tables were dirty, needing wiped clean. Wait staff, servers, or whatever term we're using are clueless as to who they need to attend to. They'd rather stand in the drink area and bitch or moan about their personal life for everyone to hear. Once they do come to your table they act annoyed and it's your fault you don't know the routine or have questions. Portions are large, but I'd rather get a smaller portion with great service than a huge portion to try to make up for what's lacking elsewhere. read more

Hump day affects everyone differently... on this particular one. There were no volunteers to Chef Boy-Ardee dinner for the fam. So it quickly became a pizza night. As my family is still planting roots in SC we asked where can we get good Pizza not that franchise stuff... you know like good old fashion NY Pizza. It was clear from everyone that we were not going to find NY pizza anywhere close but a great contender for good pizza would be Scottie's Cafe & Grill. We called a head and order to large pies one cheese and the other a large 2 topping with chicken and banana peppers, totaling $28.05 (after tax). The pies were ready in about 20minutes for pick up and still pipping hot when we arrived back home. The pizzas had a good flavor and nice cheese to sauce ratio. I particularly enjoyed the doughy crust (on the ends) but would have liked the main crust to be more firm with a little crisp to support the weight of the slice, especially the one with toppings. Overall I was satisfied and look forward to trying other things from their menu while visiting. Just A Note: I hear their Hibachi chicken is worth a try... so I may have to try that before I take off. read more

Have tried Scotties many times over the years. Have never been impressed, never enjoyed the food. And his new buffet is no exception. Overfilled pans so more food sits there too long and gets slipped around. Everything is always underseasoned. Pizza on the bar is never cut all the way through so you have to wrestle with it to get a piece without touching it. Cooked green beans from a can, sitting in the bar cooking more until they are mush. NO ONE here understands how to run a buffet properly. The burgers are good though. Salad bar is standard but fresh and ok. And the cakes...wow. Those are amazing. I dont go here unless I have to. And all the raving some other people do, well, I guess they just don't know what good food is. read more

A friend suggested that we eat here as a group for lunch. Honestly, I was NOT expecting that it would be attached to a gas station. I had the corned beef brisket special for St Patrick's day. There was a surprising amount of food for $12: potatoes, cabbage, beef, and a salad! Everything was delicious. The rest of our party ordered pizza, Greek salad, and Oreo cake. Holy cake slices. COVID -19 Curbside Week #4 Scottie's is down the road from me and you always hear Blythewood folk ranting and raving about how good Scottie's is. I was actually shockingly taken aback by how average it was. It was my first dud in the Covid 19 - pickup/curbside war. Scottie's menu is very large. It's large to the point of it being hard to order: American food, Chinese Food, Italian Food, etc. They have a little bit of everything. I ordered the bacon and ranch sub and my wife ordered the Italian Sub all with fries. We also ordered a small cheese pizza to help support the local businesses by giving more money than we would normally give and just to see if the diversity in the menu held some weight. Well, they got my order wrong. I did not get a bacon and ranch sub. I got a bacon and ranch wrap with fries. The price difference is almost four dollars and we didn't realize it until we got home. I figured for the sake of Yelp I'd try something I normally wouldn't get at a restaurant for the review purpose. The wrap was mushy. The chicken inside of it felt like someone had punched it too many times. The chicken tasted weird in my mouth with how mushy it was. I ended up giving the last couple of bites of my wrap to my dog because the bottom was mostly mushy chicken. The pizza was very okay. It tasted exactly like the kind of pizza you'd get from a ballpark or sport's event. Not the best pizza you've ever had and certainly not the worse. Just very okay. Almost neutral in flavor. Anyway, my wife thought her food was okay too. The fries were pretty cold for us to live down the road from it. The biggest reason we didn't give it a 3/5 is because they didn't offer curbside. You had to go inside to get it and none of the chef's were using gloves or masks. Everywhere else we went everyone in the building had on gloves and masks. This was definitely the most disappointing out of the four places we've had for curbside/pickup. read more

Huge, and I mean HUGE burger that hubby said was better than any he's had in a while and the chicken fingers were above average as well. I really liked this place, but the constant decisions to change the quality of menu items has a huge negative impact. The chicken souvlaki salad used to be one of the main reasons we would eat here. Souvlaki is a Greek item and it would come with feta, tomatoes, onions and Greek dressing. Recently I was craving this and to my surprise I received a souvlaki salad with American cheese, bacon, and croutons. I thought it was a mistake, but then looked online at the menu to see it had completely changed in the short time I'd ordered last, no warning when I ordered. One of the things that made this place special were the homemade fries, now they are frozen crinkle fries. The things we loved and that made Scottie's unique and worth supporting are constantly changing to something so generic. You just never know what you're actually getting when you order. read more

Ok, not a good experience, I really considered this rating before posting. First, In Columbia, many/most local restaurants are closed on Monday. This one was open and had a solid 4 Yelp rating. As we approached the restaurant I said to myself, don't let the gas station turn you off. As I opened the door, a web of some sort (spider maybe) ran across my face. As I pulled it off, I saw the interior was dark and dank. Cakes in a glass case to the right that looked tasty and yet , sketchy. A check out bar/station was to the left with a very large man sitting in a chair in front as if waiting. "Seat yourself" said a sign, but no visible seating or indication to what direction the seating area may be located. We found the seating, after asking, sat at a table and found it was dirty. The waitress brought a big wet cloth and wiped it off leaving it nice and wet. I had checked the menu before arriving due to my food allergies and preferences. The menu had changed, and had lots fewer options than indicated, leaving me with few choices. I ordered a chicken salad and my husband ordered a hamburger steak. The food was good, but taste is not inclusive of the dining experience. I couldn't eat much for fear of the cleanliness of the kitchen and restaurant in general. This fear was exacerbated by the "cook" who came in the seating area and began speaking in an obnoxiously loud voice and speaking to one particular waitress in a manner I found disrespectful. Then there was the man seated next to us who lamented the current political environment while incessantly sucking his teeth. I'm so glad this experience is over. read more
