It's easy to…read morethrow a five spot on Chubs Meats, especially now that my wife and I have been here several times and have had some great experiences both with food and service. You see, Chubs is well known to my wife as the original spot is in Medford where she is from. Her family has gotten a variety of things from there over the years and almost everything tastes pretty swell. After moving into Ronkonkoma a few years back, for whatever reason, we just never ventured over to the location that is just a hop, skip, and jump away from our abode. Though one day recently my wife said let's get some fresh chicken cutlets and not something packaged by Perdue in a food store. Chubs to the rescue! What's great in Chubs is the pricing is honestly pretty respectable when it comes to chicken and all sorts of meats. They even do a ton of different deals depending on the day and plenty of packages that are well worth the price. But beyond the cost, you'll find a lot of cool food options available. For example, the lemon garlic chicken cutlets are fantastical, the (fresh or frozen) buffalo chicken burgers are outstanding, and just recently for St. Patrick's Day, their Irish egg rolls and corned beef burgers were fire. And there's a lot of other items that just look and sound delicious. Though I have to round out the review by saying the staff is definitely friendly and often helpful here which makes your visit into this tiny meat shop that much more welcoming and inviting. They'll slice your cutlets thin, work with you on deals if there's something you don't want, and make you feel like coming back next time for more great meats. Overall, we're definitely Chubs fans. The place is not large, but with so many interesting items across their glass display case and amongst the freezers, plus some friendly service thrown in there, along with a nearby location, and true quality, I know we'll be coming back more and more. Fried chicken cutlets were thin and dried out, the bruschetta toasts were $9 for a small container maybe20 mini toasts, we bought to have with the tapenade on them but the oil used to toast them was rancid they were very old, must have been sitting on their shelf for months, $9 in the garage. Same with the bread sticks - stale, old and over priced. The pasta salad was ok, bit tasteless, rice balls had a weird sour taste as did the mozzarella balls. The meatballs looked like chicken meat balls they were so light in color several people asked me 'are they chicken' they were not, they were gross, mostly breading and didn't have any taste, they also didn't put any sauce in the container though in the case whenI ordered, they were down with sauce. We didn't try the several kind of olives or roasted peppers we purchased as we ended up going out to lunch elsewhere because after all of that wasted food, we didn't have enough food for everyone on the boat. I've never had a worse experience with an Italian market, what a waste of $140!! Better to make the drive to Gemelli's in Babylon.
