I went to the supermarket to get a T-bone steak. It was thin and fatty, so I googled a butchershop and found Chubs Meats. Once inside, there's warm lighting with a refrigerated counter with displays of different cuts of meat, marinated meats, and stuffed chicken breasts. I got two T-bone steaks that are very meaty and worth buying. The store was crowded, but the service was fast. I think I spent 10 mins max in there. Another year and another fresh turkey from Chubs. For about the past 4 years now, I have been ordering a fresh bird from here. Anything you get here is delicious, but I've never had turkey better than the ones I've made from Chubs. Ordering, pickup, all of it was a breeze. You also have to commend this spot for the community. The staff knows everyone's name and their family. They work hard, and with their seal tight system, it works. It's a special place. What a terrific local butcher shop and meat market. For a small place, they sure are bustling with customers. Not only do they have their butcher shop, but they also have an offer, hot and cold meals, salads, sandwiches, and a small produce section as well. The butcher department looked fresh, and all the meat displayed was definitely of high-quality. Well, the prices may be a little higher, then that of the big, conglomerates supermarkets, you know you're getting a great product. Everyone seemed super friendly, well organized, and ready to help with a friendly disposition. This is now our butcher as well, the meat is quality and a good price(we usually wait for deals to pop up to buy variety in bulk). It does get busy inside, but you can order ahead on their website! The culture in Chubs is really so special. I've gone on multiple occasions with my young kids and the staff is ALWAYS so kind, patient and helpful. Chubs catered a last minute post funeral gathering for my family. They answered me right away thru Facebook after hours which quickly eased some of the stress of planning. Their preset catering menus are ideal as you pick one option from 4 categories so you don't have to look thru a whole menu and decide. We got a 4 foot Italian hero and a full tray each of: penne ala vodka, chicken francese, grilled veggies, and Caesar salad. Food came hot and delicious and everyone tore up the penne Ala vodka instantly lol. We had the night before catered by an Italian restaurant and everyone said chubs penne Al a vodka blew theirs out of the water. Food was delicious as always. I really wanted to like this place. I have enjoyed sandwiches from the sub shop in Farmingville - but there were a few things that went wrong and turned me off. I went there to buy precooked breaded chicken cutlets - trying to save myself the hassle of frying them at home. I figured their chicken cutlets at the sub shop are fantastic so they should also be excellent at the butcher shop. Can't buy them direct from the sub shop. They were inedible. Stale tasting and not crispy at all. I guess they're not a frequently purchased item and they sat for a while. We threw them away. As I waited on line to order I was looking around and noticed flies everywhere. I just could not get out of my head what that translates to, maggots? Where? Ugh. I bet their fresh meat is good. Update! This is one big beautiful signature hero they call "The Thicc" Now look at it, and respect it! Roast Beef i believe they make in house, with smokey bacon, melted american and topped with beef gravy that im convinced has either been annointed by Jesus or something because i used to have wet dreams about Jennifer Aniston when she played in "F.R.I.E.N.D.S" but now its about this gravy. If you are in Suffolk County and looking for quality meats, eats, and catering for a large party, look no further. There has been always a stigma out there that butchers are always very expensive and there are a few butchers in the area that help keep that stigma going with their prices. Not Chub's. They look to end that stigma. This place is great and Ryan, Tommy, and company work hard to make sure the customers get the best quality for a fair price. Their specials rival those of other food markets, but the difference is you will get a far superior product at Chub's in terms of quality. The monthly Facebook specials are great as well. I have also ordered catering and have had to deal with nothing but happy mouths and stomachs after. Plus, they support first responders and other local businesses, which is a plus in my book. It took years for me to appreciate cable TV. Thank you New 12 Long Island for promoting "Chub's Meats." A butcher located in Medford. After seeing it air on television in May, I listened to the owner talk about loving his craft. He loved preparing food, particularly meats. If there's something about me you should know, only two foods motivate me. That's cheese and meats. I don't shy away from a good cheese dip, or a burger for that matter. So Chub's was definitely getting a visit. When I arrived I didn't realize parking is in the back. It's a small lot, so you may have to wait if you want to go. Now there were two things I wasn't prepared for when I arrive. One: the place was packed! I'm talking a line the length of the store. Did everyone watch the news that day I wonder? Two: this is not a deli! It's a butcher. Sure they make hero's, but be prepared to wait because people are buying a lot of meat. It was a mad house. People yelling out orders. Staff running back and forwards. And meats, glorious meats being sold. I was tempted to buy some myself, but I was there for a hero. I asked a few people on line is it always like this? They said "yes! If you want to get in quick, come early." I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Organized chaos. When I finally got to the counter. I asked about the hero's. Unfortunately the heater was off because of the volume inside. They only offered cold cuts today. So I would have to wait another time to get a specialty hero. I picked the turkey sandwich and a few people on line said I wouldn't be disappointed. You can tell they were regulars. Even the staff talked to them. It was nice to see a business with so many loyal customers. Finally when my hero was ready I left to try it. It was filled with tons of meat and cheese. I trembled in fear, this thing was massive. I started slow and took breathers. I'm not a big fan of hard bread, but they're hero was still good. All and all I enjoyed the full experience. I'm definitely going back to buy meats for the Fourth. I just have to be ready to wait in line for it. Oh! Did I mention that they deliver? No! Well they do. But depending on what day of the week it is determined if they service your area. So good!!! We had our community Fourth of July party catered and everything came out fantastic, they did a great job. Everyone was raving about the short ribs and the hamburgers, they were cooked perfectly.
