I look forward to shopping there every time I go through Carlin, NV. The lady at the checkout has worked there 18 years. She is very nice.

I would not normally bother to review a grocery store unless there was something that stood out…read moreabout it (either good or bad.) Stopped in to re-stock the car with snacks, milk, trail mix fixins' and some fresh produce, and MOST IMPORTANTLY a pint of ice cream. Apparently if you want ice cream in Elko you have to buy it at the grocery store and eat it in the car, because we searched this town high and low for an ice cream shop and came up empty-handed. The prior night in Buhl, Idaho, we were literally minutes late rolling into town to get ice cream, because we flagged down the Cloverleaf Creamery truck and the lady driving it told us she had just closed. And boy were we in need of some ice cream. Well we got it here, and it was cold and yummy. Got everything else on my list, although was a little sad to pay so much for dried fruits and nuts - nowhere near the selection of say, my house of worship, Trader Joe's, at twice the price even for house brand. So basically the same as any mainstream grocery store in America. Here's what stood out - my cashier - she was super nice - AND she packed my bag so beautifully! I haven't had my groceries packed so nicely in a long, long time (except at Trader Joe's - they always so a super job) and she didn't even abuse my produce. Come on. You know what I'm talking about - the "scan and throw" move that they all do - none of that here. I was pleased.

This location was near where we were staying while visiting Elko. The store shares a common…read moreparking lot that is surrounded by many different stores, restaurants, and businesses. We were eating at another establishment in the parking lot for lunch and needed to get a couple of grocery items afterward. It was an easy walk across the parking lot to the store. There are two entrances to choose from, and the standard grocery store set up with produce, bakery, isles of products, etc. We searched through the store, but they didn't have what we were looking for, so we opted to leave and look elsewhere. They had interesting decor with the giant cowboy boot in the entry, and the store seemed busy with the check out registers having lines waiting to check out.

Between the fresh produce from Cali, the homemade 'Pan & Pan Dulce' aka bread and sweet breads, the snack bar and the fried chicharrones... I've found my new favorite spot in town. I've been there a few times now and I just want to keep going back!! First time I went I got some Pan Dulce, a dozen pork tamales, 6 Quesabirria tacos w/ consume and elote from the snack bar. I went home and between my son and I, we ate all the tacos and Elote. Then I, over the coarse of a week, ate all the tamales for lunch! And the sweet breads are my favorite midnight snack. The pork tamales were so fricken good! They were flavorful, even a bit Smokey and a good size! The Pan Dulce is amazing. I fricken love that bread and it's always fresh! There are no words for how good those Quesabirria tacos are. Ask for consume to dip them!!!! Best tacos in town hands down. The corn was awesome and I put hot sauce on it! The second time I went I found chicharrones con carne and just HAD to get some. Now usually I just eat it the way it is as a snack, but the lady at the register told me I should do it en salsa! So I made homemade salsa roja and cooked them in it. It was out of this world!!! I want to make it that way all the time now! Either way, this is a great place to buy authentic Mexican food and shop for authentic products!
