I've been going to Scotty's since the 1990's - same owner - some of the same staff (who've become my friends!). Their quality and friendliness have ALWAYS been TOP NOTCH! If you ever get the chance, for a real treat, get there VERY early and try to score a raised, glazed donut, still warm ... Melt in your mouth orgasmic! I moved to Visalia almost two years ago and my first morning there, my daughter took me to Scotty's for a doughnut and coffee. She told me they had the best doughnuts in town, and I agree, they did. I've been going there for a twist and a coffee every morning since moving here and have been very happy with their doughnuts. However, a couple of weeks ago, the quality of their twists changed. I took a bite and my mouth filled with a liquid. I spit it out onto the napkin and realized it was grease! I almost threw up. When I set the doughnut down I put the napkin on top of it. A minute later I picked it up and and the napkin too was soaked with grease. I threw the doughnut away and I didn't complain. I figured it was a mistake the cook made and not likely to happen again. I didn't go back the next day, but waited a couple of days before returning. I bought my usual twist and the same thing happened again. This doughnut was just as greasy as the previous one. I returned it and asked for a refund. I decided to switch to a different doughnut shop. I found one on Caldwell but that one, even though the doughnuts were good, had terrible service. I went a couple of times then quit that too. Now, I'm searching for a new doughnut shop. I loved going to Scotty's and really miss it but can't stomach the greasy twists. Ugh! Somebody needs to talk to the cook, because he sure doesn't know that twists are not supposed to have liquid centers. read more

Anytime I pass Scotty's donuts I will stop in, They had the best donuts. I stopped in today picked up my usual glazed raised, maple, chocolate raised. Took one bite and spit it out. It tasted like greasy mush. This is not the same dough they usually had and since I wasn't going to eat it I squeezed it and the grease on my napkin and hands was just awful. read more

I would have rated it higher, but I grew up down the street and used to go there for donuts. After moving away, I always made a point to visit Scotty's when I came into town. It was never a disappointment. But the last two times I have been there now that I moved back have been pretty bad. Like, nothing special at all. The owners from back in the day are obviously different and they do not take as much care in making them. So, three is all I can give with the sincere hope they return back to quality. Still the best in the area, but for Visalia, that isn't saying much. read more

I must say I was extremely reluctant as these donuts looked just like any other donut. But when I tried them I was a fan. For me Krispy kremes were the reigning kings of donuts but they shut down so this place is the new reigning champs. Hands down best donuts in the valley. If you love sugar and hate the bread part of donuts you'll love these. The downfalls of this place are they don't take cards and the service is horrible. But the tAste is so worth it. read more
