I had never been to Marquette, Nebraska but today we changed that! Scotty's is a welcoming bar and grill oasis for a hungry traveler. We were warmly greeted by our server who it turns out was also the bartender, table busser and hostess. Service was great, food was as expected, and air conditioning was turned on high! My husband spoke highly of the cowboy hamburger and fries and I was excited to see chicken gizzards on the menu--they were awesome! We stopped in for an early dinner on a recent trip to Scottsbluff. There weren't many people inside, which was good because we needed time to look at the menu. It is an old school burger joint, which I loved. It was very clean inside and the staff was really nice. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we got a burger, chili burger, fries, chili, onion rings, and mac and cheese bites. I wanted chili cheese fries, but they weren't on the menu, so I just made my own. The burger was warm, not hot. My guess is it came from a warming tray and wasn't cooked when I ordered it. It tasted ok, nothing special. The fries were good. They were crispy and held up to the chili that I poured over them. I liked the chili, it had a dark rich flavor. The onion rings were made with minced onions, which were good and the mac and cheese bites were tasty too. Overall, the fries, onion rings, and mac and cheese bites were well cooked frozen foods. They all came out hot and crispy. The chili tasted like canned chili, which was fine for me. I'm not sure if we'll be back as there are so many options for fast food in Scottsbluff. read more

This place looks cool and fun for a classic looking diner. But, food is fair, front staff seems nice enough though one older lady in back kept staring at us like we're from another planet. On the plus side, the fish dinner was perfectly fried, the country fried steak burger had potential but came up short flavor wise, fries were fresh and hot but could stand a little longer fry time. I can't explain how wonderful this place is it's just so wonderful. Yes the food might be cold but it's hand made not like McDonald's or anywhere else so you cannot expect hot food because they do their best to make people happy. We were not impressed. The burger was very small and there was more mustard than meat on it. The steak sandwich was ok but again there was more condiment in this case ketchup than anything else. The fries had so salt so if your on a low sodium diet that should work for you. They were not overly friendly but they were fast. This is old school dinner/ice cream stop fast food. If that's what your looking for it's closer to 5 stars , as long as that's what your expecting. If you want something fancy go elsewhere, you won't like it. If you want quick food, tasty burgers for a good price, etc this the place for you. Brings me back to childhood. Try the cinnamon coke. The only nice thing I can say about my meal here was that the girl working the drive-thru counter was friendly, and the fries I got were fresh. Just visiting town, and after driving and hiking all day I was looking forward to a delicious burger to eat on my way to where I would camp that night (last Friday). What I got instead was almost inedible, unseasoned beef that literally turned to mush in my mouth as soon as I bit into it. I threw away half of that disgusting mess and had to get by the night on beef jerky. I don't know if people in that area are all just used to corn flakes or what, but season your food for **** sake! I seriously regret that I didn't find the Culver's nearby instead, would have been about 100 times better than that awful ground mush that this restaurant has the nerve to call a hamburger. A great place to grab an old school diner burger and shake. Plus plenty of other great options. Tasty Taverns are a favorite of mine. Corn dogs and a Family Fry are a must. Don't forget a cup of cheese for dipping. Quiet and comfy place that you can even eat outside at during warmer weather. Food is always consistent here. Service is generally quick. The worst little burger place in town. We thought we would try a local place just to keep the little restaurants in business. Bad decision. We had the most basic of burger meals - burger, milkshake, and onion rings. The burger turned out to be a McDonald's clone - but without the taste. Same size and texture, but they had forgotten to put salt on the meat or something. Totally bland and tasteless. Plus it costs more than the McDonald's burger. The milkshakes seemed to be from a machine. The strawberry one left an aftertaste generally found from artificial flavors. The shake was no better than McDonald's and, once again, more costly. The onion rings were okay, but seemed to have been from a frozen package like can be purchased at Walmart. Hopefully someone who cares will take over management of this place, or it is destined to die a slow death. read more

As I visit various local restaurants throughout my travels in many states I was excited to try out Scotty's for their chili dog. As I approach the drive-thru window there was a young lady who was to assist me. During our brief encounter she was chomping on her gum, never hit direct eye contact with me and had a total lack of interest in being there. I called the manager to complain and she didn't seem to be very concerned and all she said is I'll talk to her goodbye. Customer service is almost as important as the food. When I lived in Scottsbluff, I visited this restaurant numerous times, quick efficient service, great food, they don't skimp on the fixin's and the fries are not mushy, they're crisp and hot every time. Inside seating is limited but you can eat in your car, plenty of parking, and the only thing that slows down the drive-thru service is how big the orders are for the people in line in front of you. read more

Wish we'd gone to Burger King. My double burger was inedible with chewy meat, stale bun & not enough condiments to cover the bland taste. Companions' burgers had similar problems-wilted lettuce, soggy and/or stale buns, etc. Fries were okay, not spectacular. From bluff burger to corn dogs, nobody had a good meal here. I also had a stomach ache after consuming Scotty's food. The only good thing I can say about Scotty's is that my dog liked the meat from our gross' burgers, but he eats poop so he's not the pickiest eater. read more

I hate to give such an institution a poor-star rating, but I have to. My dad grew up in the Bluffs, and lived across from Scotty's, so this was a must-try when we went "home" for Christmas. Disappointing. It was diner-like, yes, but it was so "institutionalized" it might as well have had golden arches. The burgers were thin with cheap condiments, the fried food surely was frozen from a Sysco bag. This was just a supreme disappointment. If you're in the Bluffs, go for Mexican food instead. Like many folks, I'm a huge fan of the diner and lured by the eclectic menu and flavor of these All-American establishments that fight the McDonaldization of America! The menu is classic...burgers, onion rings, sandwiches of many, chicken fingers, malts, shakes, slushies and glaciers...yes, I said glaciers...part slush, part shake...equals full enjoyment!
