Ron definitely knows his stuff! Photographing bears was a bucket-list experience for my husband on our Alaskan adventure. We'd done an earlier bear viewing excursion where we were only able to get only 1/4 mile away from the bears. But Ron has been doing this work for decades. He understands where the bears will be and when, plus he understands their behaviors. On top of this, he's a photographer, so he was able to provide helpful tips. His son and assistant Alec is an expert bear spotter, pointing them out before anyone else ever saw them coming through the trees, and allowing us those precious seconds we needed to set up for perfect shots. We can't recommend this company -- and Ron in particular --highly enough. Thank you for making our Alaska trip the unforgettable experience we'd hoped it would be.

He knows all the places up and down all the rivers in the area and stays on top of everything fishing related. There has never been a year we haven't limited out with him. Matt isn't only an excellent guide but this man can fish himself....there Is not many people I have seen who can master a fly rod like he can! More importantly he is a great human being. He is very patient and helpful to all skill levels of his clients and is a great help to all of them. I watched him with a client who said she has never been able to catch a fish in her life...she is jinxed...and she caught her limit in hours. He cares about his clients....switches things around for family emergencies and unexpected problems. I delayed having a surgery for my cancer for two weeks to make sure my wife and I could fish another year with Matt!

The cabins back onto a beautiful private lake, and I enjoyed reading out there while watching the baby ducks swim around. If you are in the Soldatna area, you couldn't find a nicer place to stay!

Our state and federal parks will only continue to be a resource for all people.to share if they have adequate park ranger staffing 5o ensure our parks are protected and cared for. People are just leaving fish waste on the beach which is super dangerous and disgusting, and frankly RUDE. This location was the worst I have ever seen. I saw so much remains on the beach, including eggs. It was absolutely shocking. Normally, when its not dipnetting time, this is a beautiful beach, with sandy beaches and clear views of the snowy volcanoes. Its a mixed bag, depending on when you visit.

Clam Gulch Campground is a beautiful place to escape on the Kenai Peninsula. Its one of the few…read moreplaces you'll find with a remote beach that you can sun bathe, fish, clam dig and potentially swim if its warm enough all while in the shadows of snow capped volcanoes. This beach is one of my favorite places to escape to in the summer with my husband. The Campground is HUGE, with over a hundred sites that are nicely spaced. There's potable water and pit toilets as well. The wall to the beach is BRUTAL- 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS HIGHLY RECOMMEND and you cannot make it in a RV. VERY MUCH Recommend this location if you want to escape, the view is phenomenal. Its about an hour from the nearest significant grocery store in Homer, so bring everything you need. The cabins are spacious in…read moredesign, decorated with cute themes and lots of "Alaska" vibe, and wonderfully equipped, full size appliances, washer, dryer, all the kitchen stuff you could need. There's a fire pit outside as well as a picnic table and grill for each cabin. There's a porch facing the Cook Inlet and the beautiful mountains. We saw a moose when we turned off Sterling Highway the first night. There's a juvenile eagle that loves to fly between the cabins to perch on the bluffs. He posed nicely for photos. It is SO quiet, but we're here just a little ahead of the busy season. We've thoroughly enjoyed the solitude. The bed is super comfortable. The internet connection is good (and fast, starlink, I think). This is THE place to stay!
