I had an unfortunate experience of being hit by a car as a pedestrian and so I was treated to staying here for 2.5 days and getting an urgent orthopedic surgery. The staff is very professional and efficient. They communicate well and have a good use of technology. At every bedside, there is an iPad that each patient can use to communicate with the nursing team, order food and get care. My biggest complaint was that the patient rooms are shared and so it's only a thin curtain that separates one person from the next bedside. I had the misfortune of being paired with a very nice, but very loud lady. She was hard of hearing and had no clue that the videos she was playing on her phone at 1 am were disturbing..... The food was surprisingly decent. The hospital offers a menu type system that is available throughout the day. My medical providers were communicative and professional. I had concerns about the methods used for orthopedic surgery and for the anesthesia. I had detailed discussions with the orthopedist (Dr. Andry) and with the anesthesiologist (Dr. Pham) The nurses were respectful of my wishes when I refused needless "routine" blood draws at 6 am. I'm also thankful that all providers did not try to push narcotic pain relievers - no more pill pushers!

    Beautiful fresh fruit.

The entire team here at Scripps Encinitas is fantastic! From the polite and caring maintenance staff, ER personnel, the transport team, the fabulous doctors, and the amazing nursing staff who care so much. Also, the PT and OT are so energized to get me back on my feet! And the food is excellent. I would compare it to other wonderful restaurants in town. Thank you kitchen staff. Thank you all for making a bad situation so much better!!

My husband was assigned room 219A after having a pacemaker implanted. The guy in 219B was horrible--he cussed out every one of the staff that came in there; he called the nurses every five minutes to come into the room; he dropped f bombs loudly and constantly; he peed on the floor at least three times. This was in six hours. Basically the guy was nuts. I don't know what was wrong with him, but it was not a good way to try and recover. And of course he had his TV as loud as it would go. I asked two nurses if he was tied down or something, and they said no. I was in total fear of what he would do to my husband or me based on his anger levels. We had one hour of peace, after he received his morphine that he had been yelling and screaming about. But the best is--the guy got moved to one of the private rooms so he couldn't bother other people......So moral of the story, act crazy and you get a private room instead of these ridiculous shared rooms. BTW--the iPads in the rooms for you to order food? What rooms were these? Room 219 had no iPads. Didn't even have a phone. Had to ask someone at the nurses station to order food for my husband. And the QR code in the menu didn't work either. Way to go Scripps!! I just hope that this review doesn't result in my husband getting terrible care--but I want to let everyone know that if they have a choice, don't choose this hospital. You aren't safe and you can't rest because of the nuts they put in your room.

Gross. How about a Sparkling water or another healthy choice?

I've been going to this hospital for decades. The ER is very organized. The triage nurses handle patients with great care. Obviously they don't have enough beds with the remodel going on. They still manage to get you the tests you need, and then provide care accordingly. I even saw the Chaplain empty the trash in the ER waiting room. The only issue I have is the lack of decent snacks or drink choices (vending) available while you're there for hours! The ER docs seem stretched thin, but do an excellent job.

Surprisingly every single doctor and nurse treated me exactly like I would treat my grandmother. My only regret was not getting each and every name of every one who helped me do I could thank them personally now that I am out. I still might figure a way to do that. I just pray that everyone who took care of me sees this and knows how much I appreciate them. It was the scariest and worst time of my life, and the people working there made it bareable. She came into my postpartum room extremely rude and hostile, didn't even smile, didn't even congratulate me. She was very condescending and seemed to want to make me feel intimidated based on her job title, once I even found out what her job title was after our altercation... She demanded to me rudely to turn my TV off because I kept asking her to repeat herself, even after my infant was crying over her and I couldn't hear her, I wasn't even aware she was the social worker because she did not state that, she must have used another term but I was unaware she was the social worker when she introduced herself and her job title to me, not once did she say "social worker". After she left I asked the nurse when the social worker would arrive and they told me that she was the social worker. Her name was Ganell? Or Janelle? I felt like she made decisions based off her own personal dissatisfaction and judgment toward me, and was extremely unprofessional and power driven, keeping me at the hospital and preventing me from being discharged as some form of personal punishment for not taking her attitude very well. I even overheard that based on her judgement; that I might have to stay until Monday, and the stress has been killing me, for reasons she kept me, she didn't even inquire about, or even ask me to explain anything regarding her own concerns. I came in Wednesday at 6cm dilated in active labor around 3am and have another child waiting for me at home. I've been here basically 3 days and counting and I feel like I am in a postpartum prison. I don't understand why they cannot continue investigating my case at home and let me go home. Even a lot of other staff members and nurses are confused that I am having to stay so long and were surprised that I was no longer able to discharge based off Miss Janell's orders and "discomfort" of me.

During my visit, I experienced excessive wait times, poor communication, lack of follow-up, staff behavior. What was most concerning was lack of communication. I understand that hospitals can be busy and that healthcare professionals work under significant pressure. However, patients and families deserve clear communication, respect, and timely care. In my case, I had to wait 3 days for an MRI after that their wasn't a care plan to follow up. I had to advocate for myself for proper treatment. I am sharing this feedback not simply to complain, but in the hope that management will review these concerns and take steps to improve the patient experience. I would appreciate having someone from leadership contact me to discuss this matter further. Thank you for your attention.

I was wondering at first and thinking how small is this area for parking to be a big of a problem. We came an hour early just to scout the place. They were not kidding. Just like where I work.. it took us 20 minutes to find a parking space and was lucky to have it near the building where my appointment is. Reception wise, same as other Kaiser Permanente clinic or hospital I went to. In about less than 10 minutes, they called for my name and there's Ms Anna Lee and Mr Andrew receiving me warmly by the door. They brought me to my space and let me change into patient gown and Ms Anna Lee walked me through the procedure, Mr Andrew started my IV and I am very appreciative of him granting my request without questions. From there I already felt at ease and most of the questions in my head regarding the procedure were already explained. Few minutes passed and Mr Jonathan came in greeted me and introduced himself and took me to the procedure/sedation room. He also walked me through the things that will be done in that room. Mr. Cesar and Ms Kara were there as part of the team. Moments later, Dr Masters came in and explained to me what will transpire and ask me if I have questions. Procedure was done and all went well. Multiple myeloma:…read more There are a lot of questions that need to be answered by the tests. But that will unfold smoothly. I am a very lucky man to be on this voyage to to be cured of blood cancer/Multiple myelom at San Diego Scripps Grreen hospital, the best hospital that I've ever been in, not that i've ever been in a "Four Seasons resort" Medicare Hospital Supplement. Reportedly, an 85% chance of full remission in the U.S. for Multiple myeloma. That includes everybody in the world no matter what condition they are or their age. I believe that percentage is likely higher because of this Green hospital, the top notch doctors & nurses who selectively work there, and my attitude to have fun while I succeed. Foremost, the "food is to order" and medical service by everyone is fantastic. I've been on "order first"/" sight-unseen" steroids aggressively fighting this for a number of days before I even check in. Oncologist Dr. Bryan Pham was the initial point Doctor for me and is one of the many All-Star gurus of the team. He sat down and hugged me. He knew exactly what to do from the beginning. I love him. On my very first visit to Dr. Pham, he did a bone marrow biopsy. It did not hurt too bad because everything was numbed before the procedure and until the first night. That night was the most painful night of my life once the numbness wore off. That's okay though because they have meds so you survive. I was never worried. Before he stuck the needle into me, he asked me what kind of music I wanted to hear ("Mr. Chin," by the beloved albino Jamaican legend Yellowman" who survived jaw bone cancer in the face) so the biopsy would be relaxing.. Dr. Pham thankfully fast-tracked everything. The wizard, the genius, head hancho Dr. Dimitrios Tzachanis, MD, PhD, magically runs things. "Dr. T" makes you feel you are so fortunate to be among such a mystic, amazing grasp of the overall medical effects and chronological steps. Dr. Michaela Miller "Doctor of the Month" is primarily among other Superwomen doctors who all work with each other and make sure that you get successful anytime treatment and any necessary appointment on the spot at the hospital as soon as possible; it doesn't matter what time of day or night. Noor Qaddour, DO, and Bijan Roshan, MD, carefully show up with hands on in places you nay not think, e.g. lab, kidneys. More necessary checks and balances! There are so many good doctors and nurses, I'm blown away. There are so many top notched medical specialists, I don't know where to stop. They know who they are. They work at Scripps. They are my heroes. Of course, I would have never got here without my wonderful wife or cat. My cat Butters saved my life. Over a week ago I was petting my cat. Then he decided to pick up the love by digging his claws into my wrist, which resulted in a blood poisonous bruise which was clearly infected ( visible to my wife), leading to an emergency room trip to a Motel Six style hospital / hotel. When we walked in, a man was yelling that a truck ran over his foot. I was messed up; I needed to switch hospitals. Everything was properly addressed at Scripps. I have been and will be continuously treated until cured. I have a very positive and fun attitude, a must. I have simply continued to do as told. I have Multiple myeloma (requiring apx. 7 radiation treatments) plus easy-to-do chemotherapy, treatment of cancer lesions in the back, possible bloodclots (which is why I wear compression socks and take a blood thinner, improved kidneys, and important procedures of anything needed on every level. We're winning. It's not gonna be easy or a quick fix. Good things in life take work and time. No pain no gain. The Doctors feel good about where we are now. I am extremely satisfied and feel blessed. I can't say enough. They really care about their 1st class "modern medicine" treatments. The doctor came in and thanked us for being good patients. The doctor always looks at my wonderful wife because he knows she is the one he can trust. She is spearheading this positive direction. I am trying to have fun. If I could just make one person laugh every day. I will.
