Great lads at this local dive shop. Came in as I wanted to finally invest in my own mask + snorkel set for SCUBA and freedive. Staff members were super friendly with a love of the game, and were so helpful in giving me the right metrics by which to evaluate fit for my gear. Left with what I needed and will be back soon for a set of fins no doubt. Prices match those online so definitely strong value in coming in-person to try on difficult to fit gear like masks and fins. They also do courses and dive charters here, which I'd love to take advantage of soon. read more

I had a great experience with Scuba Network! When I got a last minute invitation to join an old friend on a scuba diving trip, I didn't want to pass up the opportunity. Unfortunately, I hadn't been diving in 30 years! I called the folks at Scuba Network and everyone I engaged with was extremely accommodating. They helped me sign up for an eLearning refresher course and encouraged me to grab the last spot in an upcoming beginner's, in-person, 2-day pool dive to reacquaint myself with the gear and familiarize myself with some new technology since I last dove (goodbye dive tables, hello dive computers!). They equipped me with all the regular gear and even helped me pick out a scuba mask with reading bifocals when I told them after the first day that I couldn't read my gauges. (Yes, bifocal masks are a thing!) Ryan Hoffman, my dive instructor, was fantastic. He was patient, easy-to-understand, thorough, and kept things moving well. He also didn't miss a thing. If someone seemed nervous during an underwater exercise, he was right there to put them at ease and help them master it. If someone didn't clear their mask of water fully, he had them try again until they crushed it. At every step he was enabling us to know how to do for ourselves because in Scuba, though it's a buddy sport, you don't want to leave the details to anyone else -- you're safest when you are self-sufficient. Within days, I felt as confident about scuba diving as I did 30 years ago when I got certified -- no, actually, I felt more confident! I can't wait to get back in the open water now, and I'm even considering getting my kids to take up this past time so we can go as a family. I'm traveling to a liveaboard trip with some family and friends and needed to get certified to scuba so I stopped in. The shop itself is certainly a local, boutique feel and the various reps I sealed with throughout certification and training were not pushy and felt like absolute straight shooters. They are incredibly knowledgeable and I have recommended them to many friends and my fiance. If you were a little sketched out by friends that tell stories of going to Bali and diving a wreck for the first time ever, have no fear. Came in today for a 3mm wetsuit, two guys at the desk were so knowledgeable and friendly (Dov and Rich?). I was looking for a specific dive computer, but they didn't have it in stock...they were willing to order it for me though so that was great! Went to Leisure Pro earlier this week and they weren't helpful at all. I don't think anyone who works there knows how to dive actually. Great group of guys! Knowledgeable and welcoming. Just got certified through them and I can't say enough good about Ryan and Mark, who did my pool courses and open water dives at Dutch Springs this past weekend. They put me completely at ease underwater, and I found that both have different teaching styles. Answered all my questions, and treat you like family. I always felt welcomed when I stepped into the shop. Easy to find parking nearby the shop after 6 (but be warned that they will tow at 11pm...usually when the pool courses end). They provide you with a logbook, and you will have to purchase your own mask/snorkel/fins/booties prior to the pool courses. I also purchased a 3mm wetsuit from them. For the open water dives, if you do it locally, you will have to rent a BCD, octopus, 7mm wetsuit and hood. And two air tanks. Had to carry it all from my car to where they were stationed at the lake. Talk about an early morning workout. Dives started at 8am and ended between 1-2pm on both days. I highly recommend these guys and I look forward to doing some dive trips and taking continuing ed courses with them in the future! read more

How do I begin with how much I love Scuba Network??? Getting started: I walked in on a whim and met Mark who gave me all the info I needed about signing up for classes and what getting certified would entail. A few days later, I came in and used a Groupon to sign up in a jiffy and did my classes online before for the Pool sessions. I also paid an extra $100 for a small group session because I felt like I would need more attention and instruction because I get super super anxious. I ran into a little hiccup when the pipe burst in Midtown and I wasn't sure if classes were still happening, but Steve put me in another pool session, did my classroom review, and helped me buy my initial gear. Pool Session: Ryan was my instructor for both pool sessions. He was incredibly patient, thorough, and great at recognizing when I would need more help or if I was starting to panic. I felt super comfortable at all times and the pool session went by smoothly. Gear: I bought EVERYTHING from Scuba Network and I don't regret it! Mark and Steve made sure I felt comfortable and that everything fit and that I liked the styles. Scuba Network also allows you to bring your items back in if you feel like a piece didn't work for you. I also got discounts on discounts as a student. Certification: I chose to go on the trip to Roatan, Honduras. I did the Nitrox certification here which helped with my stamina for 17 dives. Ryan was super helpful in making sure I was prepped, choosing the perfect roommate, flight, what to expect, etc. It was the perfect place to get certified for several reasons: the water was calm and forgiving so I could work on being comfortable and on buoyancy, it made skills less stressful to accomplish over 6 dives rather than squishing them all into 4, met tons of awesome people, it's a place I wouldn't imagine myself going to unless it was for diving, there were tons of underwater critters, etc etc. We also did a shark dive which was one of the most rewarding experiences. And again, another shoutout to Ryan for helping me through the skills, making all the gear adjustments, and giving me advice throughout the week on how to be the best diver. Love Scuba Network soooo much I'm going to Cuba with them in June and I plan on making it to Dive Master and beyond with them! I couldn't recommend it more! read more

First i'm just going to point out that I've noticed there are a couple of accounts making 1-2 star reviews of several pages (including this one) and is literally copy and pasting the same thing? Read those with a grain of salt.. it's weird. Anyway.. Scuba Network is the best!!!!!!!!!! I got my open water certification and my Nitrox certification there and I just came back from one of their organized trips to La Paz Mexico!! Everyone at the shop is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and kind. The prices of everything in the shop is comparable to what you would find online, but you also get the insight and assistance from seasoned professionals who don't try to price gouge you or force you into buying things you don't need. The certification course is very manageable for anyone (there was a 14 year old in my group) and the team at the shop will help you every step of the way and answer any questions you might have. They also organize around 4-5 trips a year where they take care of absolutely everything for you including all of the dives, the boat trips, the hotel accommodations, the food, the fees, and rental equipment. And while you usually have to organize your own air-fair, they help you with that too making sure you have all the necessary documentation and access to shuttles to and from the airport at your destination. On the trips themselves I've never felt so safe and taken care of by a group of people who care about me, my safety, and that I'm always having a good time. In fact staff members will often ask and encourage us to tell them the things that they are doing wrong or could be doing better so they can give you a better experience. And the trips are a blast!!! Obviously they know where to go. We dived with dolphins, sea lions, turtles, sharks, eels- all around shipwrecks, reefs, and even night dives!! Making the decision to get certified a couple years ago was definitely the best one that I made! And my god am I glad it was with scuba network. It is pricey to get started- but that's true anywhere. And here at least you'll know that you'll have everything you ever need and the opportunities for more certifications, more equipment, or more trips if you so decide... but yeah you reallyyyy should. read more

I had the pleasure of completing my scuba certification through Scuba Network in Chelsea and cannot give them a higher recommendation. I participated in the local pool sessions and joined one of their trips to Fort Lauderdale for my open water certification. My main instructors were Steve and Ryan, and they were both amazing in helping me overcome my initial trepidation. Ryan led the trip down to Fort Lauderdale and it was awesome. Divers were learning how to catch lobsters and checking out ship wrecks and reefs 60 ft deep. Man what a trip! The scuba shop is also stacked with top notch gear and I took advantage of a Spring sale to get a top-selling reg and computer for very reasonable prices. Groupon purchasers- know who you're dealing with and what you're getting yourself into. I did not have a good experience with this dive shop. Aggressive salesmen and just lack luster customer service. Also I think the responses from the owner after people leave a bad review are extremely telling about how this organization views customer service. At the end of the day, I wound up getting my scuba certification from another dive shop, Scuba Network in Carle's Place. Although it's the same franchise, they are COMPLETELY different people with a COMPLETELY different approach to dealing with customers. read more

I originally reached out to a number of different dive shops to shop around and get an understanding of the process of getting certified. Ryan was very responsive and was able to get me up to speed with the whole process. He even suggested the available Groupon for the acamendics and confined pool session. My fiance and I purchased the Groupons and the course includes eLearning consisting of 16 chapters and a final exam (64 questions multiple-choice) and review with your instructor at the end before taking your confined and open water skills sessions.  Because of COVID, the pool is closed until September for the confined water session, and we really wanted to get dive certified during the summer before traveling. Ryan really was able to work with us to get in during July. We were did both our confined and open water skill sessions at Dutch Springs, PA this past weekend and our experience could not have been better. Ryan and his team (Livia and Brandon) were absolutely phenomenal and helpful throughout the entire process. They really take your safety as their first priority while having fun at the same time. Ryan was incredibly patient, thorough, and just a great instructor, especially underwater, an environment which most are not familiar with. Our group only had 4 students and at the end, everyone got certified. After getting certified, we elected to go on a dive tour with the team for an additional fee. We toured the school bus and that experience was great especially after getting certified, it was our first official dive after being certified and we really put our skills we learned to the test. Overall, we had an exceptional experience learning how to dive and getting to meet amazing people in the process. Ryan was absolutely amazing in helping us throughout the whole process. You really get what you pay for. I recently completed my Open Water Diver through Scuba Network NYC. They organized a trip to Cancun, Quintanna Roo Mexico. The trip took place between March 26th and March 29th. Over the course of 3 days, we: - Practiced our skills in a confined water session - Became acquainted with dive boats and the naturally occurring bodies of water that Cancun is on - Completed four dives over 2 days, descending to a maximum depth of 53 ft in surge conditions - Officially become an open water diver with a license to learn the future of Scuba Overall Ryan took excellent care of me in the water and ensured that even though I made mistakes, as someone who just dived into the ocean for the first time, I was presented with a way forward that was ....the scuba way. Him and his wife also showed me a fun side of Cancun, showing me around Cancun to obscure and excellent restaurants. I trust Ryan above and below water. They have the best equipment at reasonable prices, but more importantly, some of the most knowledgeable dive instructors I've encountered. Before heading to the Red Sea on a liveaboard diving trip, I frequented the shop many times, to make sure my gear was ready (and safe) to use, obtain my nitrox certification and speak with the Scuba Network team about what I should know before heading to Egypt. I am a long-term diver, but on the less intense side of things. My daughter is now 13, and I want to get her into scuba, so we can start traveling to cool places, and do fun things when we are there. Anyway, I took her to Scuba Network. Rick greeted us super warmly, and set us up -- soup to nuts. It's obvious he has daughters -- plus he told us! - and he is an educator. We got my daughter's gear in one go, got signed up for online training, and blocked out the dates for her pool training.
