Bonaire trip where we got our Open Water certification
    Jacqueline S.

Obsessed with Scuba Network. They are the best in the business and I feel so confident and excited about my skills due to their extremely thorough trainings. Completed my pool sessions, Open Water certification, and trip to Bonaire with Rishi & Ryan. Had the most incredible time and they put so much thought, effort, and hard work in making sure every person they work with become excellent divers. They go above and beyond to work through any areas where you may need help or improvement. Our group trip was one of the best experiences of my life and already trying to figure out when I can plan the next one! Everyone is the shop is highly knowledgable and passionate and I couldn't recommend them enough. You won't regret booking your next trip or certification with them and you really should.

Walked into the shop nervous about getting into scuba diving and within couple of months I am now open water certified diver! All thanks to the amazing instructors at Scuba Network NYC. They are super methodical in their training plan covering online course, review and pool training. Extremely patient and always motivating. They also guide you in choosing the right gears without breaking your bank and provide unmatched great pricing and deals in store. The shop also organizes multiple scuba trips throughout the year providing great opportunities to dive, complete certifications and vacation in beautiful places. We met some great folks in Bonaire and it was hands down the most epic trip we have been on. Huge shoutout to Ryan, Rishi and Mark who guided me through my journey to Open water certification. Look forward to exploring the world of scuba with Scuba Network.

Get your scuba cert here They make it pretty seamless and are always there to answer any questions I got certified with end of December and already completed my first dive trip with them in Bonaire, it was amazing Ryan Rishi Rick and Mark are all super helpful and honest. Very thankful for the skills I've learned. I now feel more than comfortable to dive

Came in today for a 3mm wetsuit, two guys at the desk were so knowledgeable and friendly (Dov and Rich?). I was looking for a specific dive computer, but they didn't have it in stock...they were willing to order it for me though so that was great! Went to Leisure Pro earlier this week and they weren't helpful at all. I don't think anyone who works there knows how to dive actually. SCUBA Network is definitely more legit if you need real feedback. Will be back for sure and I highly recommend!

    Diving in Cozumel

Walking into the shop I didn't know what to expect as I embark on my scuba journey .. From the start it was a really welcoming environment and I was guided through the whole process from E- learning to pool classes and then to being open water certified on the Cozumel trip! It was an incredible experience full of cool dives with a great group of people. Special thanks to Mark who is super knowledgeable and helped me feel so calm and comfortable under water! I can now say I love scuba diving and am looking forward to more trips and adventures with Scuba network! So glad to be part of the scuba fam :) Ariella

go to scuba network for all things dive related!! seriously. the staff is super knowledgeable and will listen to your individual wants to guide you towards what you need. unlike other shops, they're not trying to sell to you at all costs. they really only want to sell you what you need, and are so helpful and patient in getting you there. scuba network shop is building a real family environment - they remember your name, they want to know what you're about. even for something simple like figuring out how to start getting certified and what gear you need. then you can't help but go on their trips :) especially if you're new to the sport, i'd highly recommend starting with a scuba trip here. i knew absolutely nothing about scuba, and for an affordable price, i ended up certified in bonaire. ryan and his team are seriously experienced and professional. the trip was fun but most importantly, safe. the shop helps you figure out all travel and scuba details and since they get to know you, your scuba trip is highly personalized to your strengths and weaknesses so that you end up having a really awesome experience.

How do I begin with how much I love Scuba Network??? Getting started: I walked in on a whim and met Mark who gave me all the info I needed about signing up for classes and what getting certified would entail. A few days later, I came in and used a Groupon to sign up in a jiffy and did my classes online before for the Pool sessions. I also paid an extra $100 for a small group session because I felt like I would need more attention and instruction because I get super super anxious. I ran into a little hiccup when the pipe burst in Midtown and I wasn't sure if classes were still happening, but Steve put me in another pool session, did my classroom review, and helped me buy my initial gear. Pool Session: Ryan was my instructor for both pool sessions. He was incredibly patient, thorough, and great at recognizing when I would need more help or if I was starting to panic. I felt super comfortable at all times and the pool session went by smoothly. Gear: I bought EVERYTHING from Scuba Network and I don't regret it! Mark and Steve made sure I felt comfortable and that everything fit and that I liked the styles. Scuba Network also allows you to bring your items back in if you feel like a piece didn't work for you. I also got discounts on discounts as a student. Certification: I chose to go on the trip to Roatan, Honduras. I did the Nitrox certification here which helped with my stamina for 17 dives. Ryan was super helpful in making sure I was prepped, choosing the perfect roommate, flight, what to expect, etc. It was the perfect place to get certified for several reasons: the water was calm and forgiving so I could work on being comfortable and on buoyancy, it made skills less stressful to accomplish over 6 dives rather than squishing them all into 4, met tons of awesome people, it's a place I wouldn't imagine myself going to unless it was for diving, there were tons of underwater critters, etc etc. We also did a shark dive which was one of the most rewarding experiences. And again, another shoutout to Ryan for helping me through the skills, making all the gear adjustments, and giving me advice throughout the week on how to be the best diver. Love Scuba Network soooo much I'm going to Cuba with them in June and I plan on making it to Dive Master and beyond with them! I couldn't recommend it more!

First i'm just going to point out that I've noticed there are a couple of accounts making 1-2 star reviews of several pages (including this one) and is literally copy and pasting the same thing? Read those with a grain of salt.. it's weird. Anyway.. Scuba Network is the best!!!!!!!!!! I got my open water certification and my Nitrox certification there and I just came back from one of their organized trips to La Paz Mexico!! Everyone at the shop is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and kind. The prices of everything in the shop is comparable to what you would find online, but you also get the insight and assistance from seasoned professionals who don't try to price gouge you or force you into buying things you don't need. The certification course is very manageable for anyone (there was a 14 year old in my group) and the team at the shop will help you every step of the way and answer any questions you might have. They also organize around 4-5 trips a year where they take care of absolutely everything for you including all of the dives, the boat trips, the hotel accommodations, the food, the fees, and rental equipment. And while you usually have to organize your own air-fair, they help you with that too making sure you have all the necessary documentation and access to shuttles to and from the airport at your destination. On the trips themselves I've never felt so safe and taken care of by a group of people who care about me, my safety, and that I'm always having a good time. In fact staff members will often ask and encourage us to tell them the things that they are doing wrong or could be doing better so they can give you a better experience. And the trips are a blast!!! Obviously they know where to go. We dived with dolphins, sea lions, turtles, sharks, eels- all around shipwrecks, reefs, and even night dives!! Making the decision to get certified a couple years ago was definitely the best one that I made! And my god am I glad it was with scuba network. It is pricey to get started- but that's true anywhere. And here at least you'll know that you'll have everything you ever need and the opportunities for more certifications, more equipment, or more trips if you so decide... but yeah you reallyyyy should.

Diving can be a dangerous sport if the equipment you rent at a resort hasn't been properly serviced, I have always preferred to own my equipment personally as a long-term investment. We often put together trips ourselves, but for Australia/New Zealand we needed an expert in the area to help us. We started by first looking at some tour companies. (My cousins used one to go to the same destination.) But none had some of the things we wanted, and I needed a few accommodations. I found three firms online that specialized in this area and that drew my interest. I emailed asking for quotes. Two called and I spoke to the agents, outlining my requests. The Aspire agent responded to a query from my husband on Zicasso. And I let her know (via email and then on the phone) what we needed. She listened to me and provided a quote with items and times that I had requested at a reasonable price. So she was our top pick, and we began to work together to cull the best items for the trip. We never paid a fee until we were ready to book the tour. I worked with Sharon T. And she was amazing. We got the cities we wanted, in the order we wanted, and with a few special accommodations. (For example: With a recent knee surgery, I couldn't climb the 300 steps at the Sydney Opera House, so she booked us an accessible tour. I sometimes have tummy trouble early in the mornings, so mostly I wanted tours that started at 10 am or later. I did have to give in to early times in a few instances, because they were not avoidable. I even had a specific order to the cities we visited, because I wanted to end the trip in Auckland, New Zealand, where we planned to meet with a friend we hadn't seen in more than 30 years.) Suffice it to say that Sharon and I exchanged tons [hundreds? :-)] of emails from May through the end of the trip in October. I even emailed her at least three or four times while on the 19-day trip, and I always got an immediate response (if the timing was right with the 15-17 hour difference). As a former assistant travel editor for a major daily newspaper, I may be more particular than most people and harder to please. Aspire (Sharon) was patient, detailed, and offered stellar service. I know this sounds very backwards but in essence, it is crucial to be able to receive information as it relates to individual specific needs. Some may argue that the cruise company can provide the information, but they are also very general in what they provide. They may not tailor to specific needs because everyone's itinerary will vary. Online and web booking is definitely convenient and some may assume it is cheaper (it cuts out the need for an agent's commission/fees/overhead). However, in our experience, when we searched online - the pricing came out to be same, and the agent actually offered a little more than the website did. So there you go. BJs and other third-party sites may have also offered some incentives, but after doing the math, it also came out to be the same or slightly under, but the agent won on the side of the offers. And because we used a credit card, we received the cash back/points that way. Also, if the prices for both agent and website came out to be the same, I would rather go to a live person to help with the booking because 1) they have more experience and can help with the efficiencies and details 2) we can always refer back to them with questions 3) they also provide first-hand knowledge as they help set up your itinerary or overall plans. The pros can go on and on. I am actually an avid planner myself in many instances, but to have someone be of assistance in this capacity was pretty amazing! And to even think this service still exists with so many third-party apps out there to help with any types of bookings - it is incredible! David and the team did an impeccable job. We had a group booking so instead of me working on the plans for the entire group, David and the team facilitated nearly every step of the process. It was a huge plus that they were able to follow up to make sure the check in and all the bases were covered (which are the usual responsibilities that I am tasked with...) Now is that a fine deal or what! The stress has been diminished to almost nothing (ok, maybe except for the packing part, but that's not part of the agent's offers!) Again, the personal effect in working with a person who manages so many of the endless details, is ultimately priceless. Plus I will be honest - I am not the easiest to work with - being a planner myself, I know the ins and outs of what it takes to make sure all i's are dotted and t's are crossed. There is just so much to go into and be on top of - and for David to be able to measure up to all these expectations and answer nearly all my inquiries, it is quite impressive! And for me to never step foot into their office to accomplish all of this - is yet another extraordinary accomplishment in this "journey" of planning. I agree with all the reviewers on this, they are all on point. Also this company provides a huge array of vacation opportunities, I have only begun to look at. But the idea that they are able to even offer what I need (without having to search on the internet), saves a lot of time. I provide dates and a few other basic information and David delivers nearly every time. On top of that, he includes vital information that is helpful in making appropriate decisions. Ultimately, the most important results from all this was that our trip turned out be super fun. Excited to share some of the photos from the vacation! Thank you David and to your entire team for the extensive work and service, professionalism, and invaluable information!

Dayyan took the time to listen to our goals and paired us with Rob Neville as captain. Rob was the ideal captain for us- he taught us how to sail in minimal time, and within a couple of days we were handling the sailboat under his watchful eye. All our meals were so tasty, and often more elaborate than one would expect could be prepared in a tiny sailboat galley! Additionally- Rob was an excellent tour guide, and we loved our stay in The BVI. Rob was often more like an entertainment director on a cruise ship, and he spent many hours with our teenage sons- playing coconut rugby on the beach, doing science experiments, fishing, bouldering or whatever they wanted to do. We found calm protected anchorages each night, despite being very busy sailing season. I cannot possibly recommend Sailing Collective more for a once in a lifetime experience.

So I booked my trip and traveled with the Sailing Collective to Thailand in Dec 2015. It was the most unique and beautiful trip I've ever taken and I highly recommend it. Why I loved it: 1) THE SPOTS WE VISITED: Dayyan has an uncanny ability to sniff out all the best local spots. I was continuously amazed at his ability to find where the local fisherman ate, the best secluded beaches, and the most picturesque places to dock. Additionally, our itinerary would have been impossible without the sailboat and I enjoyed having such a different way of weaving through the islands then most of my friends who have visited Thailand. 2) THE CHEF: It was incredible to have a private chef aboard who drew upon local ingredients to create healthy and delicious meals and snacks. Ana was a wizard in the kitchen, turning out unique and visually stunning meals for a group of 10, out of a tiny sailboat kitchen. 3) THE SAILING: I loved that Captain Ross invited us to learn as little or as much about sailing as we wanted during the trip. One afternoon he took time to walk a small group through the basics of sailing and we were able to get hands on with steering, ropes etc. But if you didn't want to you were equally welcome to take a snooze in your cabin or on deck. 4) CUSTOMIZE-ABLE: I appreciated how flexible and responsive the captains were to our needs. They often gave us options about routes, beaches, meals etc. While we typically had group dinners or excursions planned at least once a day it was 100% up to you if you wanted to go out on your own or opt into group plans. The list of reasons why I love this company goes on and on. I recommend any traveler give Sailing Collective a try!
