Sometimes the management will ask existing customers via email if they will like to be "model" for the trainee staff to practice on. It will be a free treatment and you provide feedback on the experience. Pretty much a win-win situation. Covid-19 safety protocol is in place here. To minimize waiting inside, you are asked to come in at your appointment time. Mask is to be worn at all times. Hand sanitizer is there. Even before covid, this place already practices cleanliness with disposable paper cover on the treatment bed and pillow. One time use of spatula. No double dipping of wax. I definitely feel safe in here. The prices have gone up quite a fair bit by $5 or so and I hope it will remain stable. If it gets too expensive, I may either consider DIY or find other places or only go occasionally instead of regularly.

Then Wency showed me to the room (beautifully furnished) and instructed me on how to get ready. She left the room while I got dressed (I really appreciated the privacy of these moments). The whole process took 16-20 min. I thought I had good pain tolerance (I have many tattoos) but boy, did I underestimate the pain of a Brazilian Wax. When I walked in, she looked as if she didn't want to be there, offering no greeting or smile, and had a demeanor similar to an angry school teacher. She pointed to the chair, and asked me in a brusque manner, "What do you want to do today?" I specifically told her that I wanted to clean up my eyebrows without thinning them out. Despite this, she proceeded to roughly remove the hairs, causing me a lot of pain and leaving me with uneven eyebrows. When I pointed out that one eyebrow was thinner than the other, she refused to take responsibility for her mistake, blamed my eyebrows, and simply walked away. To add insult to injury, after threading my eyebrows, she didn't even apply any gel or cream, which is the usual practice to soothe the skin. When I asked her for some, she rudely extended her arm out to me with the gel and told me to do it myself. To make matters worse, I had gone to the salon two days before my birthday, and now I have to celebrate with thin, uneven eyebrows and a couple of scars. I'm extremely unhappy with the service I received, and I won't be returning to the salon. I do want to mention that during a previous visit, another esthetician, a kind and patient woman from Bombay, did an excellent job on my eyebrows. However, based on my most recent experience with the owner, I cannot recommend this salon. It's very modern/earthy/chic (eg. white walls, natural plants)- and definitely feels very calming and relaxing. I booked my appointment with Lisa Liang for a La Cachette Signature Facial, and she was very sweet and patient as she walked me through what to expect. Bonus: The washroom are gorgeously decorated as well, and very very clean. The facial lasts a full 1 hour and 15mins or so. The rooms have soft ambient music playing, and the heavy sheets are super super comfortable - you could easily take a nap! I'm not well versed in their products, but various cleansers, exfoliant and peels are gently massaged into my face. Mines ended with a cold jelly mask thing. They use a lot of G.M. Collin skincare products (I also got 2 samples on my way out). My favourite part was starting and ending with a deep breathing exercise with essential oils, and also a little face/head massage at the end. The La Cachette Signature Facial regular price is $135, but I went for a limited time 50% off promo. Overall, it was a very pleasant & relaxing experience. The place is clean and comfortable. The staff are nice and this has a more laidback vibe and chill to it. I don't really request for specific therapists but I have seen this place grow, and the therapists I had were all good. One Yelper reviewed tweezing was not asked but maybe it was a once off thing, as I had tweezing done before here to remove the strays. You can also request not to do any tweezing. The only downside is that sometimes the wax bits were not removed fully and I was left with sticky bits on the feet or legs. Some cream or lotion should be provided for customers to remove that ourselves if the therapist missed out. Hard for them to see at times.
