I wandered into this salon looking for a quick acrylic nail fill. Other salons on Columbia were charging upwards of $35. They had their pamphlet on display right outside of the salon with a list of exact pricing for the multiple services they provided. Once I saw that the acrylic nail fill was only $20 I thought i'd give it a shot. I didn't have high expectations for a service that would only be costing $20 but I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfied I left! I had Amanda do my nails and she was absolutely great! I make a quick decision to get a pedicure today and saw this salon online. It says that they welcome walk ins and no appointments necessary. When I first walked in. 2 ladies were helping a customer out with a Mani pedi. Greated me, another walked by and asked whether I had reservation and when I said no. She kinda gave me a weird look. A customer with reservation walked in right afterwards and the lady help her right away while I was left sitting. I had previously told them I wanted to get a gel deluxe pedicure, I felt that instead of having me sit there. It would have been more efficient to have me also pick out the color. When I was picking the color for my Polish, I told the lady I wanted the exact color on her hand. And she came back to me with a light blue and a pastel lilac colour asking me to pick. She did not know what she had on.. which was weird... Overall I'm very satisfied with the Polish color I picked. The lady doing my pedicure was a little rough with my feet. I've been here twice for a least minute wedding mani and they've always been super accommodating You can't beat their great price either! Both times I've gotten my gel mani done by Manda and have been really pleased with her work and wouldn't hesitate to go back to her. She's clean, made my mani look great and even after 2 weeks it's going strong My only gripe is that the customer service is really sub par. The girls are grumpy and won't talk to you and lack friendliness. It feels like a bunch of strangers working in the same studio and they don't like each other or what they are doing. I got acrylic nails done here because their Instagram page was so promising. I don't think the woman that posts on their IG account was the one that did my nails. Also, when I made m appointment I had specifically requested a full set of uv gel and that's what I asked for again when I got there but they told me I could get acrylic with gel top. That's strike one with me. If I take the time to make an appointment for a service my expectation is that I'll get what I asked for or I'll be told flat out when I book that my service isn't available and be given options. The salon is clean, comfortable, and the staff are lovely. The price is also pretty cheap which is nice because often a low price point accompanies some other not-so-amazing qualities. My nails were meh. Chunky, the polish was uneven, and the part of the nail that meets the cuticle did not (in any way) blend with my natural nail. They left it rough and a little raised and as a result my nails snagged on everything especially my hair, which resulted in a lot of frustration and broken strands. I can overlook a lot of things, but mess with my hair and we're going to have issues. That's why 2 stars. If I wanted to be a hazard to myself I would have asked for stiletto nails. read more

I had to find a new nail salon and after reading reviews, I decided to try Apex since it's only a few blocks from where I live and the reviews were pretty good. Amanda helped me with a shellac manicure and I wanted some designs on the nails as well. Amanda was super patient even though I changed my mind about the nail colour 2 times and she was happy to fix up anything that I didn't like. Compare that to other locations in New West which do shellac manis for over $35 and mani/pedis for at least $45! This is a family owned company and the customer service is exquisite. This is my regular nail place and I wouldn't have it any other way. Also, their haircuts are only $17 and she is a total perfectionist. I will be coming here for years. I can't imagine settling for anywhere else at this point. Appointments recommended but not always required. Can fit up to 4 pedicures and 4 manicures at a time (tho if you have more than 2 people, book an appointment in advance so they can bring in the staff!) Enjoy! read more

Updated review regarding eyelash extensions! I've been going here for months for eyelashes. They had a promo for their Jr. Tech ($40 for a full set of their Classic Lashes - which is about 80 lashes per eye) and since then I've kept coming back. First of all, the prices are great. Light set is $45, Classic is $65 and Dramatic is $95. The fills are $35-$40, depending on how many lashes you have left. Stephanie or Amanda are the lash techs and both are great. Secondly, my lashes last! Longest they've lasted was 3.5 weeks! Mind you, I don't wear eyeliner as much anymore since I've been getting my lashes. It doesn't feel heavy, and if I accidentally rub my eyes when I'm sleeping (the horror!) they don't hurt at all. And moreover, they look natural. read more

After reading reviews on Yelp and doing some Instagram searching I decided to pop by Apex. The place is chic and very clean. The Decor was girlie yet not too over the top. Theres also tvs there (woohoo). With 3 pedi stations and 2 mani station it is not too crammed. I had a pedicure done by Stephanie who was very helpful and did a great job. I love how she was very detailed and made sure it was perfect and I was happy. Being in the beauty industry, customer service is #1 and I felt Stephanie delivered great service. I had pedis done at other places which were not clean however Apex was very clean and all things were sanitized.. At Apex they offer many services which include nails, hair, lashes etc. I had a great time there and Im so glad its close to home :). Being new to New West (and BC as a whole) I was reluctant to find a new nail salon. After looking up reviews I went with Apex, despite having 2 nail salons downstairs out the door of my apartment complex. Amanda is great with nails. I'm picky, but so is she so it works! Also Stephanie did a great job with my hair. My only "negative" comment would be to ensure you get FULL price quote (ie. Taking Polish off if done elsewhere, hair, etc) I've been quoted lower prices each time I went and paid more. Just have to have full details for right quote. I went in today for mani pedi and a blow out. As always, the mani pedi was awesome! No complaints there, I can't recommend them for nails enough! Unfortunately, I went in for a blow out as well. What a disaster! Not only did the stylist spend an hour burning my scalp and painfully pulling my hair, the hair spray smelled AWFUL. The products used were sub-par drugstore brand. I was very clear with what I wanted, I even showed pictures. Clearly the girl doing my hair didn't know what she was doing at all. I ended up rushing home and washing my hair out and putting it into a bun. Not quite the elegant hairdo I wanted for my anniversary dinner, but at least my hair doesn't smell and look awful. I had polish removed by a different girl the last time and it was not good. She seemed very new and even after leaving I had polish on my nails despite her taking over 30 min. I've been here quite a bit and think they do a good job on nails especially for the cost however I was really disappointed that I had made a reservation 3 weeks before my birthday to get my nails done on my birthday and they called me the day before to say that no one is in on that day to do nails... You're a nail salon! I get they do other things as well but it was really upsetting that they couldn't have called earlier than the day before or been more sympathetic/ apologetic. Horrible! Went in to get my hair Japanese Straightened. Had to wait 5 days to wash my hair and when I did it was just as curly as when I went in. The girl doing my hair did not leave in the products in my hair for very long even though I asked her how long she will leave them in, she said the first product 25 to 30 mins and she waited 2 mins, the second product she said she would leave it 10 to 15 and rinsed my hair pretty much right away. I went in a second time for them to fix my hair and it was still the same after I washed it. I have been getting my hair Japanese straightened for many years and this was the worst experience. When I called to tell the owner that it didnt work the second time she refused to give me my money back and told me I used the wrong shampoo. She offered for me to come in a third time but all they did was damage my hair and waste my time and I did not want amateurs working on my hair anymore. The owner was very rude and not helpful. Also they are not part of BBB (obviously), and only accept debit so you cant dispute the charges. I read your comment below and once again the hair stylist did not leave in the product long enough. I had virgin hair so its not like I came to the salon with damaged hair and I am pretty sure she did not follow the directions to the product, hence my hair being just as curly as it was before. I have done Japanese Straightening for many years and my hair has always felt smooth and straight after words except for the TWO times at your salon. I do not recommend. I had been going to this salon for a while to Amanda because the pricing was cheap, but so is her quality. I would get gel polish and it would all chip off the ends like regular polish. I would get a light pink color and within a week the gel polish would show staining on it. Yuck! Also her jewels are always falling off. But I didn't mind because whether it was a fill or a new set filled with stones the price was always 45$. I referred about 8 friends to her as well as myself every 3 weeks. My last set somehow came to $73 so I gave Amanda $80 cause I'm not going to ask for change. I got the same nails I always get, but I didn't say anything about the price. Next day a jewel came off and I went back because it was less than 24 hours. Two days later, another nail ... The gel chipped right off the tip .. Along with the jewels that were on top. And I have to go back again. (Within 3 days). When I go back she tries to rip my nail off with a tip, then argues and yells at me when I tell her I want the nail to be filed down how she's always done it before. She gets mad and tells me to get my nails done somewhere else. The very next day, a third nail... The tip underneath the gel breaks off... 3 nails in 4 days.... How are your nails so horrible????? Amanda is super unprofessional and bashes her clients to me. Talking about girls who are her clients who are 16 and fighting each other. Talking about other girls who come in and don't have a lot of money so they pick and choose certain designs that won't cost as much. She basically bashes the girl for giving her friend a $20 gift card when u can't get nails done for that much. She also told me you can get a fill for $20 but you would have to do the polish at home, then when I wanted to do that because I had a groupon for a shellack manicure somewhere else gifted to me, she claimed she never had that service. And charged me $40 for a nail polish fill when she usually charges me $45 for a fill with gel polish and at least 3 blinged out nails. She doesn't have a price list anywhere and just charges whatever she wants. read more

I tried really hard to like Apex- it's close to my house and usually easy to make appointments. I had my hair cut by Farrah and it was uneven even after I pointed it out to her to fix. She did a good job on my gel manicure but it was rough and painful and the instruments don't appear to be sterilized. The threading I've had done doesn't seem to last as long as when I get it done at another location. On another note: they don't accept credit cards so bring debit or cash. read more

I've been here twice so far! First time I got a shellac mani and regular pedi. My appointment was for 5:30, we arrived at 5 and were asked to come back at 5:30 which is understandable. Came back at 5:30 and didn't get seated till 5:58.. Mind you they close at 7. I asked for a French manicure with gold tips. The lady (Stephanie??) brought me out a very sparkly gold and I was in love. She started and when she was done they were just ok? The lines weren't straight and the bottom of the line were silver instead of gold.. The pedicure was nice but didn't receive any lotion or anything on my feet. I was there till 7:21 and although I felt bad that they had to stay so long after closing, there was nothing I could do. When paying, she said she will be charging me 15$ for the French tip instead of 12$ since she used sparkles, which makes sense but if I'm paying 15$ I'd like to have straight, professional lines.. Ended up being 60$ after tip. Second time was yesterday. Theresa (the owner?) was doing my nails. I asked for a express mani and payed before getting my nails done. She charged me 15$ when on their website it says 10$. She started and the nail polish was too thick and it was going on very streaky with lots of holes. I asked if I can switch colours and she said we'll try 3 coats instead of 2. It got a little busy and she switched me over to another girl. Although Amanda did a good job, the work that the previous lady did was bad. It looks like I did the manicure myself. When I asked Amanda to fix the edges that were missing, she looked annoyed but did it anyways which I appreciate. The colour is lovely but it still looks like I did it myself at home, for sure not salon quality. I will be giving this place a third try within the next three weeks so fingers crossed third times the charm. read more

Found Apex through instagram and thought i'd get a classic lash set. I was very happy with the result, despite the woman doing my lashes was 45 minutes late to my appointment of 10 am. Could have recieved better customer service, but wasn't complaining as I had expected bad service from the impression and blunt behaviour that i recieved over the phone booking my appoinment. Went back a week later to get my nails done. Same mediocre customer service but excellent job in nails. The one complaint i do have is 7 days after getting my eyelashes done, more than 50% had fallen out of one eye and 40% in the other. I had noticed that the girl doing my lashes spent more time on my left eye than my right, which may have been the reason why 50% of my eyelash extensions fell out the right eye 7 days later. Extremely dissapointed and will definately not be coming back. read more

Writing this review to make sure you are warned about how horrible this salon is! I am not one to write negative reviews and always try to find a solution to a problem before anything. My horrible experience started as I walked in the door my sister went to get her eyelashes done and as I was curious to get my hair done I simply asked the lady, how much would it be to get my hair from black to dark brown, I specifically told her I don't want anything too light or dramatic just a simple one shade lighter. She told me a very good price and so I asked when could I book an appointment she told me we have room right now! Which made me think great ill get it done right now, as the process started I got my first red flag I was getting bleach sloppily applied on my hair, It was not even parted into sections it was just slapped all over my hair with no proper technique, I was then moved to a hair sink for almost 2 hours getting toner applied to my hair, my hair is very heavy and so I was on a sink for a long time which ended up leaving me with really bad pain on my neck for about a week. The end result was Blonde roots, specks of black hair because she did not properly bleach the hair, orange hair and it was completely destroyed and falling off, As i saw the end result she kept telling me oh it looks beautiful? excuse me what? I have fried hair, its falling off and i have 3 different colours on my hair. As I complained the only thing she kept repeating was you still have to pay when at no point did i say other wise I just repeated how bad my hair had turned out, I felt insulted. I was treated badly and given an attitude I walked out of that salon In tears with my hair destroyed, horrible customer service and short of money in my pocket. I had to later on get a color correction at another salon and my hair dresser was completely shocked of how badly my hair had been done. NEVER COME HERE! read more

Very poor customer service and extremely unprofessional. My sister made an appointment and I dropped her off. Once she arrived, the nail tech (who is apparently the owner) told her that she would not provide her service as she is acquaintances with someone the nail tech got in an argument with. She also said that my sister had been speaking negatively about her and that she had screenshots. My sister and I were both shocked as my sister did not even know who this girl was before this point. When she sent me the screenshots, all my sister said was that her nail had fallen off once but that she went back and fixed it. This was all on someone's private Instagram account that had nothing to do with the salon. When someone leaves a review publicly, she apologizes for the poor experience and asks them to come back for a more positive one but when she searches out things on private Instagram posts she asks you to leave her salon. Incredibly childish and immature. My sister ended up wasting two hours of her day traveling there and back in the pouring rain for nothing and instead of doing her nails and having a happy customer, now she she multiple unhappy customers. Prepare for a side of high school drama to accompany your manicure at this salon. P.S. She sat there for 10 minutes trying to find this Instagram account that was being referenced and was unsuccessful - She left crying, she absolutely did not agree. read more

This place has the worst customer service I've ever experienced! I called the same day to book an appointment on December 23rd. The person on the phone said their next availability would be at around 3:45 PM, which was an alright time for me knowing that the express pedicure should only take 15 minutes maximum. She called back saying there was an earlier appointment at 1:45 PM so I decided to take them on their offer. I arrived to my appointment a few minutes early and was told to be seated in the waiting area in a curt manner since they were still finishing up with other customers. Around 10 minutes later, another customer arrived. By the time I was seated for my pedicure, it was already 2:05 PM. After being told the pedicure would take only 15 minutes at most, I was already irate that I was behind schedule and going to be late to my grandparents' anniversary party. Mind you, I understood that they may have been running late and fully expected I would be helped out next once one of them were available. However, to my annoyance, the lady who arrived 10 minutes after me was seated first and had her toenails worked on first. How does that make any sense to have her treated first when she arrived after me and I was on-time to my appointment? Just because I booked my appointment the of does not give them the excuse to treat me off like that. Had I not mentioned anything, this mistake would not have been noticed and I would have had to wait for the other customer to be finished. If they didn't have time then, I would have happily taken a later time or found a different salon. I will never be going to this establishment again because of their horrendous and unprofessional customer service. Plus, the nails were mediocre at best, especially since she rushed through them. If I could give zero stars I would. I went to the new Edmonds location as I was referred by my man's mother. Worst experience of my life. I was booked for a mani pedi. Arrived and two techs started on my hands and toesies. Both ladies were very young. The girl doing my mani had NO idea what she was doing. She filed my nails down way too far until she eas filing skin. I asked her if she had done a mani before she said yes. I dont believe this for a second. I asked her to stop as she was hurting me at this point. said thank you but i would just get a pedi. The girl doing my pedi advised that the other yound lady as he4 friend, had been working for 4 days and wasnt supposed to be doing nails. Pedi seems to be going fine, tech fixed the nail shaping on my hands and applies nail envy. She also apologized for the mani screw up. Pedi finished, she sprays some kind of drying agent and thats it. I ask if she will do top coat she says that was the top coat. Im about to be late for my own birthday brunch at this point. I go to put my sandals on and the polish smudges as its not dry. She doesnt wipe off and fix the nail just polishes over when i ask her to finish. I dont have time to wait now. I go to till where the owner helps me and tells me i am being charged for a mani and pedi. I ask her if my nails look manicured and she gets an attitude and says nothing here is free, you got your nails filed and polished. This goes on for almost 10 minutes... me being told I owe for a mani and pedi even after the nice tech who did my pedi explains to her what happened and that i shouldnt have to pay. I paid her for the pedi and tipped the young woman who did my pedi. I told the owner that she needs to learn how to run a business and how to treat customers and that this was an awful first impression after being referred here. There was a follow up call later that day regarding my appointment and the owner hung up during the call.DO NOT GO HERE! Fara was great. I called in the morning and she was able to fit me in right away. Fara took her time to reshape, file and buff before applying the shellac on my toes. I saw their advertising for eyebrow threading. Made an appointment and just left... With 1/6th of my right eyebrow missing. She started to tread for a moment then went to plucking my eyebrows. When I asked her to stop i looked in the mirror and noticed the end of my right eye brow was gone. When I said something she said you have blonde eyebrows you still have hair there. I tried to show her and she just started to get annoyed with me. I got up and walked out. When I walked i walked into my housey boyfriend noticed my missing chunk of my eye brow. Don't get your eyebrows done there. They have no idea what they are doing. And now I have to deal with the embarrassment due to their experience. Her tools weren't cleaned or new like most spa's use nowadays and the chair used to do the pedicure wasn't cleaned at all. I booked an appointment for myself and a friend 2+ weeks in advance thinking we want to solidify our spots. well when I called to confirm the appointment things went downhill. One the greeting from a Jaspreet? was rude and short and unclear. Two when I asked her if it was too late to change what I wanted done she said yes with attitude even though I politely said if it is then no problem I will stick with my original request just thought I would ask. Then she proceeds to tell me that my appointment was at 12 when I know we booked for 4 as I work till 3. why would I book at a time I am working. I asked her to cancel the appointment and she responded with a "ok whatever". Not once did I get a polite answer. My friend also had spoken to them and she said she was passed to 3 different people with 3 different times of when we were supposed to be coming in and every time she corrected them and yet they still got it wrong.
