I love walking into a place that looks like they know about the business they're in. There is key stuff everywhere from all walks of time. It's so cool to see the old locks, the different types of keys/locks, safes, safety locks, and of course what's a store without some impulse buying??? There's every type of key chain/key ring you can think of here. The gentleman who was working knew what he was doing. Although it took a minute since my original key was super worn, he was still able to make my copy. I'd say it took maybe 20 minutes (my key has a computer chip in it). came here with a cylinder from my gumball vending machine in hopes to find a key that worked (i did not have the original key) and the man working was incredibly kind and offered me a few different solutions but ultimately he ended up somehow making a key that would work. well, technically, he's making it right now and i'm hopeful that it works but regardless his kindness deserves 5 stars anyways. What an incredible job! I have a very expensive front door lock that was broken when we bought the house and hasn't worked since. It got to a point where it was hard to enter & exit... I called SCV and Matt came out the same day. Provided me with a great quote and even offered for me to find the lock as it's expensive. He handled everything! Ordered the lock directly from manufacturer and once it came in, he showed up the same day and installed it. He even took the liberty of adjusting the dummy knob to ensure everything is perfect! I was running errands in the Plaza where this business is located and planned on getting a copy of a key before leaving. I returned and the owner had purposely blocked me in and started yelling at me aggressively asking why I had parked there. I was very taken aback and scared so I just apologized while the owner continued to yell and berate. I would not want to see this person again much less give him any business. read more

I'm very disappointed at the customer service at this establishment. I'm writing this review today while the experience is fresh in my mind. I've read some of the review and I definitely DID NOT get served by anyone name Jerry with a bubbling personality. My husband and I walked in and was approached by a stumpy Caucasian old man with a look of disgust on his face. We asked him if he could copy a key to open our HOA Pool gate since their address was printed on the key. He abruptly said NO! I said why not? Again very rudely he said" because I said so". Really! Is that how you treat all your customers or only me? He said the HOA Won't let me copy because I'll loose their business. And that's fine, I appreciate that answer, so why didn't he say that in the beginning nicely, instead of rudely said because I said so. I would not visit this place again and I would never recommend this place to my Yelp friends. . Go somewhere else that treats people that looks like me with respect. read more

Their website stated that they open to 8:30 AM. I arrive shortly after at 8:35 AM and found the front door locked. I thought they must've changed their hours and I looked at their sign, and nope define listed their opening time as 8:30. I waited until 8:55 AM Before finally giving up and leaving. I paid $94 for nothing. The guy spent an hour tried to make a key for my kitchen door. End up said you need to go to Home Depot to get a new lock. Then collected his money and left. Asked them for the fee first before ask them to do the service. I don't know how business can work if you couldn't fix the issue and still charge customer $$$. Ridiculous!!! I called a few weeks ago to ask a question about the best way to fix my front door's deadbolt. I spoke with Rick, who was very honest & straightforward about what to do. He told me my options & even recommended the one that would cost me less, even though the other option would've made the business more money. That tells me that SCV Lock & Key is trustworthy. So I followed his instructions & brought in the equipment to be adjusted. Rick wasn't there that day but the gentleman who was there was just as honest & straightforward. He had me out of there in 5 minutes time, with very few dollars cash out of my pocket, and my new deadbolt custom fit back to my original key. My Dad has been using this business since I was a kid as his go to locksmith & I know why. They are knowledgeable, honest & don't try to rip you off. These guys are great. I took some locks in to be rekeyed, they had them done within an hour and all my duplicate keys have worked! They also have a big selection of keys with different designs, characters, logos, etc. If they don't have it, they probably don't make it. They were also very honest in saying I should just rekey one old lock instead of buying a new one from them. read more

I stopped by my condo this morning (I'm still in the moving process) to find the locksmith's card on my front door. His name is Lou, and he must be crazy to think I will ever give Santa Clarita Lock and Key my business again. The card went promptly in the trash. I had another locksmith fix the locks on my doors, and they were prompt and honest. Turns out that the locks that SC Lock and Key installed previously were the cheapest on the market.
