We have always had fantastic experiences using nanny services when traveling. Unfortunately, this…read morewas not the case with Sitterwise. It's honestly still upsetting over a week later, so I felt the need to share. We were traveling to Carlsbad for a wedding, and I contacted Sitterwise 5 days before the event to request a sitter for our two boys, ages 3 and 1.5. I filled out our family profile, made the request, and was told I would be matched with a sitter within 24 hours. The next day, about 30 hours later, I hadn't heard back and my request was still showing as "pending." I reached out to them again and soon after was matched with a sitter. I was initially a bit concerned reading the sitter's profile, which only stated her experience as a high school teacher and mother to a grown son, with no reference to taking care of babies and toddlers. The morning of the wedding, I texted our sitter to give her the heads up that our littlest had picked up a cold (no fever, but a cough/runny nose). Later that day, our sitter arrived and we spent about an hour introducing her to our kids, and despite a clingy baby, all seemed great. I prepared a bunch of notes for her on bedtime routines, dinner, etc., and we left. At 6 pm, just as we sat down to dinner at the wedding, I received a text from the sitter saying she needed me to call her. When she answered the phone, she was clearly very distraught. She said our youngest was crying for me and she was having a hard time handling our 3-year-old, who was hitting his brother and laughing, and from what it sounded like, generally acting like a 3-year-old. She said she couldn't complete the job and needed us to come back... A few things that I remember vividly from that call: "I'm really sorry, I'm only used to high school-aged kids" "I think your son and I just don't get along" "I called my husband and he said, 'you're the adult'" "I know I can't hit/spank him but I'm not sure how to get him to behave" Our minds were blown. We of course left the wedding immediately and raced back to the hotel. When we got to the room, the sitter was upset, both of our boys were upset, and she was running around grabbing random items like the couch accent pillows that she had "put on timeout." Hot tip: the kid doesn't care if you put the couch pillow that he threw on timeout... The sitter was crying and I was completely taken aback and just trying to calm her down and get her out of there. She started to say something like "you don't have to pay me" to which I interrupted and said of course we will pay you. I later found out that she took this as me saying we would pay for the FULL night we originally requested that would have ended at 11 pm, and this is what I was charged for when I checked the receipt (Sitterwise did later refund the extra 4.5 hours I was charged). She left, we were unable to attend 90% of the wedding, and the cherry on top was when she accidentally texted me instead of her boss, explaining that she left because the little one was sick...Clearly not being honest about why she was leaving early. Ultimately, I blamed Sitterwise for the awful sitter matching, not the sitter. Our sitter was super sweet, but she was obviously correct when she said she was only used to high school-aged kids, and I should have gone with my gut when I saw that her profile had no mention of caring for young kids. That fact was clear when I heard her through our baby monitor talking to my 3-year-old like he was 15 - repeatedly asking him what was wrong with the baby and why wouldn't he take the bottle, and asking him to help her. Hearing him very clearly confused and not sure what to do was pretty rough on my mama heart. In the past, nannies have come with age-appropriate toys and activities, she came with nothing. In the past, nannies have known how to appropriately handle a toddler outburst, she made it seem like our child was the devil. The first thing our son said to us when we came back to the hotel room was "she doesn't like me." Those words from a tiny 3-year-old should tell you all you need to know. I spoke to Sitterwise a few days after our experience and explained all of this to Stacy. While I appreciate that she refunded the extra hours I was charged, there was really no attempt to make this right, beyond promising a better pairing next time I'm in San Diego. It would have gone a long way for them to admit the sitter matching clearly wasn't right, or maybe waive some or all of their fees. Instead, I was simply told that she was an experienced sitter, that they'd follow up on the issue, and that they were sorry. Toddlers can be real a-holes sometimes, and mine are no exception to this fact. But, they are also well-behaved kids who have NEVER had an issue like this with a caregiver. As someone who spent 15 years as a nanny myself, this was very clearly an issue of a sitter inexperienced with this age group, and a business unwilling to own their mistake.

We just moved there and had ZERO friends and our family members live outside the state so basically we knew nobody who could take care of our baby son when I had to go to see the dentist on weekdays. Then I googled if there was any great nanny agency who could send a reliable one time babysitter to our home then found this company. At first, I was so scared of welcoming a total stranger to my home but the first babysitter was nothing but fantastic so I was able to go get a dental treatment I needed. Then i realized... "maybe I should use the company again when I need a date night with my husband" Since then we get babysitters from them all the time, like once a month. So far all the sitters we hired are great and pretty sure they hire only the good ones who passed the strict background check. They charge $30 per hour for 1 or 2 kids so some people might think it costs too much but in my opinion, it's totally worth it.

It is seriously Escondido's best kept secret for parents/caretakers of toddlers. Children must be potty trained to attend and min age 3. The dedicated staff encourage parents to shadow and volunteer 1x/month which really gets all the families involved. There have been 4 class sessions per school year (m/w or t/th for 3-4 year olds) or (m/w/f or t/th for 4-5 year olds) and each session is about 2-3 hours long which is all my son can really sit through. HIGHLY recommend you being prepared to sign up your child day of registration opens and the school year follows a regular academic calendar. They don't publicize this program enough, so keep an eye on the escondido rec page for registration or call the city rec department. My son has participated in this program + summer program last 2 years and I am so grateful for the affordable and fantastic preschool community. He has developed leaps and bounds socially and academically. Miss Kathy has been teaching here for 24 years and miss Nicole , her classroom assistant is also so patient and awesome with the kids. My son didn't qualify for the income based free city preschool nor did he meet age requirements for preK through EUSD. This was a great resource for parents who fall "in between."

We have 4 kids which can be a lot for me, let alone a care giver. They are 11, 7, 4 and 1. My husband and I didn't want to have to deal with different daycares, after school programs and prices so we decided a nanny was the way to go. We found Bloom Care online and reached out to them. Emily got in touch with us promptly and we gave her a list of what we wanted in a nanny. I thought our criteria would be hard to match. Not only did she match us with the perfect nanny, she gave us better. She did her due diligence and we could not be happier! A few friends have also been matched with great nanny after our experience. Bloom Care has a gift and they're the best agency I've ever used! Thank you Bloom Care! I wouldn't hesitate to utilize their services.

After applying to a position that looked like a great fit for me, I was contacted just minutes later by Emily & Nikole! It was my first time working with an agency so I didn't know exactly what to expect but they have exceeded my expectations! I had an initial interview with Emily to get screened and placed into the agency and she was amazing and such a great help. She matched me with an amazing family very soon after that and assured me her work didn't stop there as she would be available as a mentor as I navigate through my nanny career. Bloom Care even offers back-up care so if there's a family that needs last minute care, coverage or even date night babysitting, they will reach out via email and ask if you're available to work so there's plenty of opportunities for work even if you're already a nanny or just looking for babysitting gigs! I love how nice, responsive and helpful Bloom Care is! I highly recommend them whether you're a nanny looking to find a job with the help of an agency or a family looking for your perfect nanny!!

We had…read moreexhausted many other resources when someone recommended that we try College Nannies & Tutors. We walked in without an appointment and rather late in the day, yet the person who met with us was very professional and genuinely wanted to help. The problem was our situation was quite unique. My goddaughter is in the Cal State system and could not pass her math exams. She has a math learning disability and despite so many other tutors and other types of help, she just couldn't get passed her match course and it was jeopardizing her status at the university. She had a final test coming up and if she passed, she would fulfill her math requirement at the university and be allowed to stay, but if not, she would be dis-enrolled from the university. Add to it, she only had ten days until the test. No pressure at all. Normally tutoring for this would occur over several weeks, even several months and we only had 10 days. I explained the situation to the person at the office and I really expected her to smile and say, sorry we can't help you. Instead, she did smile but told us she understood the critical nature and would do everything to help. She made a couple of calls and found us a tutor willing to help. To make it even more convenient, the tutor agreed to come to us and tutor my goddaughter at my home instead of making her go to their office. The price was absolutely reasonable when you go online and look at other tutoring services. Bailey was the tutor assigned and on the first day she showed up right on time. After the first session my goddaughter already felt more confident and felt Bailey's methods and way of explanation were helping her greatly. This went on for the ten days and Bailey even came by the morning of her exam just for a quick refresher and prep in case she had any last minute questions. The bottom line... my goddaughter passed her exam! If I haven't expressed the significance of this, it really needs to be emphasized. My goddaughter was in her second year of college but just couldn't get passed the math. It took awhile before they even figured out she had a math learning disability but despite using their own tutors and tutors from the university, she just couldn't get passed that class. She has been a perfect student minus the math and unfortunately this situation has been a great amount of stress for her for the past year wondering whether or not she would be able to continue at the university or not. Coupled with the fact that she only had days left to prepare for what was going to be the "make or break" test of her college career. We had tried many other people and methods all of which failed to get her passed this stumbling block. And it needs to be mentioned the people at this center, Allison Dery, Director of Services and Bailey, our tutor, need to be commended for their help in a very unusual circumstance. Again, when we went in I fully expected them to tell us they couldn't help in such a short amount of time but they went above and beyond to help. Not only that, but they made it more convenient by coming to our home and there was a lot of paperwork they just waived for expediency. They were extremely accommodating and it can't be emphasized enough. If your child is having problems, I cannot give a high enough recommendation for this place and their services. Truly professional!
