The automated system is the worst second only to the "human" that picks up the phone. Super simple, sdge replaced a pole today and in doing so filled in a 3 foot wide concrete drainage swell with the left over dirt instead of cleaning up the jobsite. They need to come fix it. I spent 15 minutes on the phone, 2 separate calls, and talked to 7 different people who seemed almost as pissed off as I was at them filling my drain ditch as they were for having to simply answer the phone and do their job. When you are the only business in town, does what I write or others for that matter change anything? We have a 1000sqft. Townhome that we rent. Our projected bill is over $1200 this month. Our past 2 months we have paid SDGE over $600 for electricity. I have called their customer service numerous times and the only advice they can give is for us to check our fridge and other appliances like the dishwasher. I don't know of any fridge or dishwasher in the world that costs $600-1200 a month to run. I have also requested numerous times for them to check our meter for any issues and they have refused. I have a credit balance of $680 dollars at SDG&E. Forty days ago they agreed to send me a check for the amount they owe me. Still no check. I just called them, and they said they're really backed up and did not give me a date by which the check would be sent to me. I started out online to transfer my services I was referred to an app and I downloaded the app I was messed around with and could not access anything cuz the date was November of 2002 and you cannot change that date at all to reschedule or transfer your services to another place I called them up.. I with the voice recording was asked if I would like a link and not have to wait and I took the link.. I ended up in the same spot and it would not let me put in a date to start the new service I was given basically the same thing as the app and it would not let you put in a date at the end I am so frustrated it's like they're deliberately blocking you and trying to mess you up from completing your transfer service why in the hell would they have these links or these apps if they deliberately sabotage people from taking care of the business away they went on there and that was to transfer their service I got dates like 2030 or it just freezes on February when you want December and it won't change it and it won't ever let you finish or completed it I called them back up and I decided to take the weight I waited for 48 minutes and I was told the agent just hung up the phone and now we're going to hang up the phone I am now waiting for them to call me back and it could be 30 minutes or whenever they feel like it I am so tired of this and it is pathetic service from SDGE read more

I have been calling SDG&E about a dangerous situation since October, with no response or action taken. Just promises of action. A large pine tree is tangled up in SDG&E power and utility lines. The wires are under a great deal of strain as the tree has grown. Adding to the problem, the tree has been gradually pulled over and looks like it could come down. SDG&E has said they will remove the tree. Hopefully they will take care of the problem before the tree falls or worse. Ideally, there will be a follow up review with high marks, not with the aftermath of an incident... read more

SDG&E - Utilities Near Me - San Diego, California

I am experiencing power outage in parts of my house and I called SDG&E to get this taken care. The first tech that they sent discovered the problem (one of meter sockets broke loose) and he said that I qualify for a panel upgrade for free. That same day, the dispatcher called me and informed me that I need to upgrade my panel? There is nothing with my panel! So the second tech showed up the following day and he told me that I need to get the socket replaced since SDG&E are not responsible for it. All he could do was turn off the power in the whole house. Many days later, I got the new socket for my meter and called SDG&E for a tech to come and turn off the power so my electrician can do his work. 3 hours later, no calls from SDG&E, so I called their emergency number to speak a person, not a machine. I was told that only the Project and Design Management can secure the power. PDM told me that it would take days for the tech to come and secure power. In the meantime, there is no power in my oven, A/C, garage and some outlets in the house. SDG&E is full of it. Some of the SDG&E staff are incompetent in my opinion. Replacing the meter socket only takes less than half hour by my electrician. WTF??? read more

Laziest people on the face of the earth!!! Unions at their best, doing nothing but lining their pockets with more money. Was scheduled for an electrical panel upgrade back on February 23rd so that I can get out from under SDG&E and install solar paneling. It was supposed to rain, however, the electrician still came to the house and got himself ready to start work but needed to wait for SDG&E to turn of the electricity and gas (all of which is underground) only for them to cancel all projects for the day. I was okay with it because it did rain later in the day even though the electrician said they could do the work regardless of the rain. Fast forward to today (3/20/2023), there is NO RAIN scheduled for today (see attached image), however a large storm coming tomorrow. My electrician got here at 7am and said that there would be no way that SDG&E would cancel because it was not going to rain today (the ground was wet from slight drizzle the night before). He went ahead and started the demo work (broke though all the surrounding wall) while waiting for SDG&E, only to have them cancel for rain. The electrician went out of his way to call them to see why they had canceled and was told they had already canceled all their crew for the day. Their only job is to come over and turn off the power and gas and then come back and turn it back on. Not exactly rocket science. This is the 2nd time, I have had to take a vacation day from work to be home for this work only to be canceled because SDG&E can't get themselves out of bed to simply turn off the power for an electrician to do their job. If you wonder why people hate this company so much, it is situations like this where you can clearly see how lazy they've become and then they want to increase cost to their customers. It is unfortunate that there is only 1 gas & electric company that we have to rely on, otherwise, they would have gone out of business long ago. As I write this, not a single rain drop falling from the sky. Can't wait to install my solar panel and backup battery. Less money going to SDG&E. . read more

I really hope another gas and electric company comes and beats them for better energy because this company sucks. I'm out of money because of them and highly considering legal action. I wish I could say avoid but they dominate San Diego, California unfortunately. There are people with medical equipment who need to stay plugged in to live, there are people who work from home, there are people's groceries in the fridge that can spoil after a long outage. I closed my account over a year and a half ago after a move. I was recently contacted by a credit bureau letting me know that I owe SDGE 67$ from my closed account and that I needed to pay this money ASAP or risk a hit to my credit. I never received a bill (my mail was all forwarded to my new address, received nothing), an email, or a even a phone call from SDGE regarding this balance. Not to mention, when you move they lock your account so you can't even log in to see what is outstanding. So they don't alert you that a balance is due, and then go straight to a credit agency a year and a half later. This company has terrible business practices. I feel like I'm being held accountable for their total ineptitude and inability to properly run a company. I will be paying the 67$, but only after I speak to someone at SDGE to let them know how bad they are at being a company. Will also be filing a formal complaint. Time to nationalize the power grid and throw these for profit scammers to the wayside. read more

On my iPhone X, via facial character recognition, login to SDG&E app. Upon successful login, I select pay bill, select credit/debit card, and the screen is refreshed to Bill Matrix wanting me to login. This is where SDG&E needs to pull their heads out. I've already logged in. I'm not logging in again. The excuse is for your security, baloney. Having a 2nd authorization screen, is indicative of a phishing scam, and it's not going to happen. My bill is $0.86 this month. You're getting change in the mail. SDG&E's billing dept should take a look at the haughty, snippy, bad attitude of its employee, Darla, who answers the phone for billing questions (when you can get through). She spoke to me in a very rude manner when I explained to her that the smart-meter opt-out billing (estimated every other month) was incorrect and way over-estimated. Utility companies and their oppressive new pricing and policies are a joke. This new pricing tier structure that was rolled out as a way to save money has actually doubled our bill. For renters like myself this leaves very little options as Solar isn't viable at this stage of my financial life. It's sad to see how protected and unaffected this company is by their own decision making. They're just dumping their inefficiencies and cost onto the people. I'm looking to move out of California for the many things this state continues to do that increases the cost of living and not represent it's local population. I keep money in my account so I just don't have to worry about my bill... they disconnected my auto pay for no reason and now I owe $650 or they will shut my electricity off the day after christmas.
