One of the employees (bald and Caucasian) walks over from the counter, snatches the booklet out of her hands, and aggressively snaps at her saying, "Keep your hands to yourself and don't touch anything! This is not a store for kids!" Note, this is a store with Star Wars posters on their doors and jigsaw puzzles. My daughter and I were a bit shaken, but I said a quick sorry, and then it hit me - this kind of behavior was completely rude and inexcusable and I felt like I should have defended her and told him to back off. But then I realized if it happened to us, chances are this was not an isolated or unique incident. The same will or has already happened to others who visited this store. If they continue this kind of behavior, they are going to hit someone's else's nerve who doesn't have the same restraint that I did. So if the same happens to you and your child if you do come here, know that what they're doing is wrong, and absolutely fight back if not just for yourself, but for the rest of us this has happened to. To gain some perspective as well though, hundreds of cruise ships with tourists visit this store regularly. They have probably had incidents where kids mishandled and broke some items, so they are very defensive about it. But here's the thing - if you're in this business, you should also be educated enough to know how to deal with this respectfully with customers. Put a sign up saying "Children not permitted. Thanks for your understanding". Or you say, "I'm so sorry, we've had some incidents before and prefer children not to handle the merchandise. Thanks". That's it. Anyways, I hope this is a lesson in customer service to this store because they do carry a lot of very nice items. But many times it's not what you're selling that determines how good your business is - it's how you treat your customers.

There were a few that were pushy and refused a polite wave off or a "no thanks". It was different with this store. There was no one pacing outside waiting to snare anyone that walked by. Instead, the employees were standing inside by the counters, relaxed and patiently waiting for people to walk in. We walked in for the free charm and were given one, no strings attached. The store was very brightly lit and so were the cases. There was a lot of variety of jewelry and we were allowed to try them with no pressure to buy. The employees there were very friendly.

Our card was charged on 8/14 for shipping. It has been 2 weeks now since they charged us for shipping. I do not know how long it takes for a package to arrive from Ketchikan to Kansas but at least we should have been given a track number to track it. I tried 4 times today to call their phone number but no one answers and there is no website or email to send them a message unless i am missing something. I just received the package today. You need to be patient if you request that they ship to you.

This is one of the larger junk tourist shops right by the cruise ship docks in Ketchikan. They sell…read morea ton of crap that's made in China, so buyer beware. Some of the goods are local, but not many, and you'll pay a nice markup due to the shop's easily accessed location. The shop is large, clean, spacious, and well organized. This could easily be your one-stop-shop if you're looking for Alaska souvenirs. They have keychains, shot glasses, t-shirts, stuffed animals, tote bags, rain gear, snacks and sweets and more. Sockeye Sam's also has the largest selection of raincoats, umbrellas, and sweatshirts, all staples that a lot of cruisers often forget to pack. I appreciate that the store sells various sundries (Advil, bandaids, etc.) and small toiletries, too. If you're arriving in Ketchikan via cruise ship, you will walk right by this store. They pretty much have everything you need to take goodies to the folks back home. Pro tip: visit a local grocery store if you want to find really cool Alaska souvenirs. I've purchased locally made hot sauces, candies, and other goodies for a fraction of the price that they're sold for in tourist stores like these.

I have lots of Pandora so I figured I see if they had anything related to Alaska. The man who I believe was the owner, helped us. I picked out two charms that we purchased. He mentioned how beautiful my diamond ring was and said that two of the diamonds were old because they don't cut them that way anymore. I confirmed that two of the diamonds were my mothers so they were older than the the other ones. I was very impressed that he could tell that just from looking at it on my hand. He's the real deal. They also cleaned my ring, which I appreciated. Great and friendly service!
