They were completely full the moment they opened. I can't stress how important it is to make reservations on this island. The restaurants that don't have reservations have lines that last for hours. Staff was friendly. The food was phenomenal. That seafood platter you see that I posted is for 1 person. We shared it and still had mussels we couldn't finish. And they were awesome!

While staying at The cowshed in Uig, we drove into Portree to have dinner at sea breeze's restaurant in Portree, Isle of Skye Scotland. We had an amazing seafood platter for two with fresh and local salmon, mussels, and scallops. It was very delicious. The service was delightful and pleasant. Glad we had reservations as there were a lot of tourists in town and this is a quaint place.

Food was absolutely amazing! We tried the cod with risotto, which was fresh and tasty. Dessert was average, which was probably not because of their cooking, but more because we simply didn't like that specific dessert. What we didn't appreciate was the way they priced alcohol. My friend ordered a cocktail which was not on the menu but consisted of 2 drinks on their menu. Instead of just charging for the more expensive drink, they charged us for both drinks, even though the quantity my friend got was just for one drink.

We got there when it opened at 5:30 but almost didn't get a table since we didn't have a reservation. After a delay they decided to give us a table for four. We had the sea bass special (£17.50). The fish was delicious. The mussels in white wine and garlic (£13.95) were fresh and good. The house salad was also good and well worth the £2.95 cost. The bread that accompanied the meal was whole wheat. A 175 ml. glass of Malbec was (£5.20). A dram of the featured whiskey was £4.

This restaurant is on the Portree Harbor. (2 Marine Buildings, Portree IV51 9DE, Scotland). The map shows this in some other location. A cute busy restaurant with fabulous food. We had butternut squash soup and wild salmon with polenta, cabbage and sun dried tomatoes. It was fabulous. You need to make reservations! Easy walking distance from anywhere in Portree.

Completely amazing food and beverage at this charming little spot. We had the special, which was the seafood platter for two with langoustines, mussels, and two big pieces of salmon. Everything tasted perfect. Even the mussels, which, in my experience, are usually quite bland, were succulent and flavorful. Be sure to make a reservation here at least a day in advance. They fill up quickly and have limited seating. Also, ask for a table by the window. The view is beautiful and we saw TWO rainbows over the harbor in just the two hours that we sat in the restaurant!

This was by far one of our best meals on our 2 1/2 week tour of Scotland and Ireland. I did plenty of research before our trip, enough to know to make reservations DAYS in advance (confirmed by the many parties turned away while we were dining and the crowds waiting outside restaurants at dinnertime). Portree is after all a tourist town and ya gotta eat, but there are only so many sit down restaurants. So I called several weeks in advance, long distance from Hawaii to make sure I got a table. Our server (a young blonde girl) was sweet and probably the most attentive service we received on our trip as well (does everyone else notice the stark difference in table service between America/europe....as a former server, I sure did). I ordered the scallops on risotto and my husband ordered the fish special atop a potato dish mashed with olives. Both entrees were perfection, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I guess you can't help the freshness of the sea food, it's all caught right out the window practically! My husband drank a dark porter from the local brewery (located on Uig) and he liked it so much that we visited the brewery the next day to buy some bottles to take home. Our server went out of the way to make me a hot whisky toddy (not on the menu) as I was feeling a little under the weather. We ended our meal with the chocolate pot for dessert. It was very small, not good for sharing, but it was a good end of the meal sweetness. We will tell everyone to eat hear and enjoy the view of the water as they dine. We will not hesitate to return to this restaurant along the iconic stretch of rainbow buildings along the water.

Oysters were fresh. The scallops with butternut squash risotto was very well cooked and well seasoned. I had a few bites of the sticky toffee pudding and I wished I hadn't eaten the bread as I could have devoured one by myself.... Excellent food and to top it off, the waitress was attentive and very helpful!!

Service not the best (for such a top establishment). Not attentive. Even worse, no apologies when there was plastic in the dish! That is a major fail to be honest. Waiter said he'd talk to kitchen and never came back. When the bill came we had to tell this different waiter about the whole episode. Again no apology but when she came back with a revised bill she quietly took the charge off (so that dish was free). Fine but why such bad handling of this whole incident?

Emma was our server and was warm; delightful and very helpful with my gluten allergy; and Rebecca, the manager, was lovely, and helped us earlier in the day to arrange transport from Sconser. For the meal .... Well! We started with the crab, which was flavorful and very fresh. My husband saw the table next to us served the Curried Cauliflower soup, and had to try it. Super!! The entrees were exceptional; I had a lovely, thick piece of cod, with a beautiful butter and lemon sauce with grape tomatoes, and they subbed out a stacked potato dish, due to my gluten allergy, and it was delicious. My husband had the scallops with pork belly, and while both were fantastic, the pork belly was truly amazing. We also had a side of the seasonal vegetables, which were crisp and very fresh. Armed with our trusty gas stove, we searched the island before stumbling across Anchor Seafoods at the end of the pier. It was closed when we first approached it - were we to be twarted at the final turn??! No, we popped back 15 minutes later and the lovely lady had returned and we were able to peruse a fine selection of freshly caught seafood. The shop owner was quite charmed by my boyfriend, and seemed completely amazed that a Brazilian should turn up in her little shop in Portree!! The fish selection was super fresh and so appealing. It took a lot of resistance and will power not to walk away with too much, but we had to bear in mind we had no way of storing the produce. It was quite pricey but we decided it would be worth every penny. We settled for some scallops and prawns and headed off to find a secluded section of beach where we could cook up our feast and make all our fantasies come true!! Top quality seafood from a top quality place.

Six items were on the menu: a soup of the day (rice and chicken) with bread, a ham and cheese sandwich, a chicken/bacon/sweetcorn sandwich (check the TripAdviser reviews if you want to hear more about that one), a vegan cheese and pickle sandwich, a pulled pork wrap, and a falafel/mango chutney wrap. Five pages of the six-page menu were drinks, coffee, and alcohol. This is not a food place. It looks like one. Based on old reviews and photos, maybe it used to be one. I did come in the afternoon, so maybe it's better for breakfast. Or maybe not. For the amount and quality of sandwich I got for 5 quid, I should have just gotten a meal deal at the co-op. Genuinely, a meal deal sandwich would have been better quality. My ham and cheese did have both ingredients, but the cheese was shredded and the ham was very thin-sliced and overwhelmed by the cheese. My guess is that it's made to be toasted, hence the shredded cheese, and that was an option for 20 pence-- but why on God's green Earth would you serve a cold sandwich with shredded cheese? The bread was bland and basic-- fine if you're making yourself something at home, but not something worth paying for at all. (Again, it was like a meal deal sandwich. But worse. I would never disrespect a meal deal sandwich like this.) Based on the service (or lack thereof) we received from the very beginning, I should have listened to my intuition and gotten up to find somewhere better. The wait staff are called that, I assume, because they will wait ten minutes for you to ask them if they can take your order, only to be repeatedly rude to you when you politely ask for the bare minimum amount of service. Full disclosure: I have worked in food service before. I sympathize with anyone who has to deal with customers. But when we weren't served, and went up to ask if our order could be taken, we were snapped at and told to go back to our table. No "apologies, someone will be there shortly". Not even a "sorry for the wait, we're very busy right now". Just "go back to your table". So we did. Which was a huge mistake. I've lived in Scotland for more than a year and I don't know if I've ever had a meal that depressing since living here. And I've made Pasta in Sauce at 3am with just water because I ran out of milk. I won't be too hard on our table's waiter because he was very young and inexperienced, and I expect he's received minimal, if any, training on how to wait tables. I honestly felt bad for him. He looked as though he would rather be anywhere else. In that way I felt a real connection to the wait staff; in fact, it was the only time I actually felt truly seen by them. I, too, would rather have been anywhere else. But that's not necessarily the vibe you want to be getting when you walk into a place. This place would be better off selling ready-made, takeaway sandwiches rather than masquerading as a restaurant and disappointing us at every turn. Seriously. Not to quote other media in a literal Yelp review, but my expectations were low and I was still let down. The only saving grace of this place was that it was clean and had wifi that was strong enough for me to send this picture of my sandwich to my friends and go "????????". Also there were two very cute dogs outside, although I don't believe they were hired by the restaurant. If you're desperate for food and don't really mind what you're spending money on, then this place is fine. Like I said, at least it's clean and has decent wifi. But I would not waste my time here twice.

We had lunch at The Granary, which was just OK. What we really enjoyed was having a mid-afternoon snack (afternoon tea), as they serve excellent coffee and tea drinks. The cappuccino and chai tea lattes were very good. They have a special drink on the menu that was absolutely decadent- the Hot Chocolate Royale! A case of pies, cakes, and treats is made fresh daily to tempt you, and everything is really good. The only tricky thing is the QR codes are used to place your own order, but if your phone gets poor service, you will have to order at the counter and tell them your table number. No-one told us this, and we had waited for quite a while until we figured it out, as the table service is minimal.
