A fun family friendly environment especially loved the lake in the middle of the sand fun for my kids 4 stars

This is one of my favorite beaches. My family and I have been going here for over a year. We absolutely love it. It's very private, the individuals who come here are very respectful. I love how there are showers and bathrooms, not that far from the beach. The only thing is I wish there weren't that many rocks on the sand. I don't remember that being like that last year. I remember last year the sand was very smooth and soft. Also, there aren't a lot of seashells anymore, only ROCK! Which is a disappointment. THE GOOD ---------------- + Lotttttts of beautiful, pristine sand on this spacious and verrrry clean beach. + Gorgeous beach town with lots of beach houses along Ocean Ave. + Plenty of restaurants (Sea Bright Pizzeria, Angelica's, Tommy's Tavern, Ocean House Tap & Grill, Moo Yai Thai) on Ocean Ave across the street from the beach. + Huge paid parking lot ($2/hour as of July 2026) at 1085 Ocean Ave, HOWEVER, it will get very crowded and busy on peak beach days (weekends, holidays) so get here early! Like 10 AM early! or you'll be circling it along with the other latecomers. + Safe area with a police presence here and there and the fire rescue house nearby. + The drive in over Sandy Hook bridge on Route 36 provides a fantastic view of the shoreline. THE NOT SO GOOD ----------------------------- - Beach is located on a narrow strip of the Jersey Shore so there is ONLY one road along this part of the shore, although there are 2 ways in and out - via the Shrewsbury Bridge or Route 36 - pick your poison during busy times. Very dirty, not swimmable. There were bags of food, ziploc bags, and a condom in the water. The entire shoreline was full of it

UPDATE 2025: Still a great family spot! nice, clean and well-maintained. $8 entrance fee per person/cash only. -------- Came here for the first time early June 2020 and I have to say I did enjoy that visit and wouldnt mind coming back again. We initially planned to go to Sandy hook but since they were full we ended up in Sea Bright. Good thing we did. That day we went the weather was perfect! Sunny with a cool June breeze. We got a lucky parking spot by the Sea Bright Beach Pavilion close to the Ocean rescue. It was nice that there was an unlimited time parking meter, we just had to add more coins if we wanted to extend. Our spot was great too! Close to the ramp and the restroom Haha anyway, the beach was kept clean! People were not rowdy and they have lockers available. The boardwalk was also nice and relaxing, and opposite beach are a line of stores and shops! Not sure if its always like this or we just went at a good time read more

Beautiful beach!! When we came there were no entrance fees as opposed to some reviews i read. Lifeguards are alert all the time. Clean and well maintained. Love this beach! My family and I have been visiting this beach for 3 years now and never disappoints us. Very well kept area and the garbage trash is constantly being collected. You do have to arrive early to find a parking spot near the beach house area. You pay by the meter per hour and the daily pass per person is $8.00. it is a borough of Monmouth County and is one of the most peaceful beaches along the Northern Shore. First of all- Parking: I loved the parking spot here. I wish every beach has this kind of parking facility just in front of the prominent beach spot and that too $2/hr. I know this is not such a famous beach, but still, I did not have to waste my time finding street parking or anything. It's right near the main beach. walk up the ramp or steps to the new Sea Bright Beach Pavilion which fronts an elevated concrete walkway and small boardwalk that extend for about 1/3 of a mile south. play volleyball or use the children's playground. Outdoor showers are along the walkway, restrooms are inside the pavilion, and police, fire, and lifesaving personnel are nearby. Short boardwalk but it's great for enjoying a walk with loved ones or kicking back and relaxing. Enjoy the breeze coming from the Atlantic as you spend your day unwinding. Beach Pass: From Memorial Day to Labor Day, beach badges are required at the supervised public beaches in front of the Beach Pavilion and at Anchorage Beach. The Sea Bright beach is beautiful! I am on the border of Monmouth Beach so I avoid the parking costs and chase for a parking spot. The beaches are clean and the people are nice. The beach at this end offer private and public access. No restrooms, no concessions and no beach badges required. At the other end of Sea Bright there are municipal parking lots with metered parking, restaurants, shops, showers and restrooms. read more

Sea Bright has one of the more secluded beaches in New Jersey. Most of the beaches at Sea Bright are private but they do have a great public access beach. Unlike Point Pleasant, Seaside, Ocean City, Wildwood and Atlantic City, Sea Bright does not have a boardwalk with restaurants, retail stores, amusement games and rides. It gets congested when in the summer when Sandy Hook fills to capacity in the summer.The public beach is clean, the sand is yellow/white and is dredged up from off shore periodically. The wave action runs a range from calm to a turbulent 6 feet but most of the timethe waves are under 2 feet. Life guards are on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are no lifeguards after Labor Day and no fee to use the public beach. During the season there is an $8 per/person fee and after your admission is paid, you are given a braclet. Those 12 and under are free. Restrooms are adjacent to the boardwalk. You can bring a cooler on the beach. The municipal parking lot has metered parking. It is $1 per/hour. There are plenty of stores, taverns and restaurants along the ocean drive that runs through Sea Bright. After Sandy much of Sea Bright was redone and looks great. read more

New fans of Sea Bright Beach! I had never been here before, but my family fell in love and I think this will have to be our new beach. Parking was easy as there is a parking lot by the beach office($2 per hour), along with ramps, bathrooms, showers, etc. we passed a small basketball court and saw a playground right on the sand. We saw a surfing section and swimming section and people generally respected their own spaces. We went on a busy summer day, but it wasn't too crowded. We also saw plenty food options across the street as well. We'll be back for sure, we loved it. read more

This was my first time at Sea Bright, even though I have been to many other beaches along the jersey shore. There is a huge lot that you can pay for on an app - this was $2 an hour. It was $8 to get onto the beach for adults. Make sure you have cash otherwise you have to trek across the street to find an ATM. The beach was incredibly clean, the lifeguards are on duty until 5. I hope and pray the entire state of NJ, and specifically Carol at the Seabright Municipal Court, drop into the ocean. ZERO parking signage up and down a whole block, I double checked. I parked for 1.5 hours making SURE not block a driveway, park in-front of yellow pained curb, or block a fire hydrant. I was with THREE locals who double checked my work and said I was good to go. NOPE. $50 ticket with a mysterious 3% service charge to pay it online. Aren't your taxes high enough? You need to suck even more money out of the population? Go eat a dead crab New Jersey. Social distancing at the beach... It was such a lovely day and staycationing upon us just couldn't resist a glorious day at the Jersey Shore. Was kind of surprised somewhat, that there were many families mid-week in late August. Honestly it was good to see. Once parked ($1.00 an hour), we headed on to the boardwalk (?) you'll have masks on. Once hitting the sand masks off. Getting on this beach will cost $8.00 per person and they give brackets to wear. Just find an open spot and of course, away from the other beachgoers. It's really not all that hard. Just be aware of your surroundings. You would never know that it was 2020. Yay. :) It isn't the biggest of beaches down the Shore, but that's what drew me in. Smaller beach and hence, smaller crowd. There are bathrooms to use and outdoor showers once you leave. Would definitely come back. It was so good to have sand between my toes again. Maybe after Labor Day and work on my tan line. read more

When I talk about "Sea Bright beaches" I mean the tiny free public beach that Steve K. has also touched upon. There is a small, small parking lot by the Rumson / Sea Bright bridge that will get you on to a "free" Sea Bright public beach. I put free in quotes because when I tried to get on for free in August 2015, they informed me that they charge $8.00 per person on the weekend. Wha? I was shocked by this! Why can't we have a single, small public beach that is free all year around in Sea Bright? There are no lifeguards on duty, but there are now new public restrooms you can use. Beware though, they lock them after a certain hour. I'll only go to this beach during the weekdays when I don't have to pay. It's usually not overly crowded and pretty peaceful there because the lot is so tiny. On the weekends I will just head down a few more miles to the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center. They have some free parking for public beach access, though the lot's gotten smaller since the Cultural Center has reopened, so it may be hard to find a spot. I dread the day where there will no longer be free public beaches in NJ. read more

Anchorage Beach is still a beautiful public beach with free (limited) parking. Few people seem to know about this gem. Update: * Now a $8 pp fee on weekends and I suppose holidays, Memorial Day thru Labor Day * Small public toilets are new--built after Hurricane Sandy. Thank you FEMA. Normally locked. Were opened about 9 am when I was there on a Friday in August. You can change there but still no showers * New Handicap Beach access with ramp. Tip I: Can recommend Alice's Kitchen short walk south so don't have to give up your parking space. Clean and beautiful beach!!! Not over crowded. Lifeguards are a little quick to blow the whistle but the beach being so clean and clear makes up for that. Parking is $1. Came here for a day trip from PA because it's one of the closest beaches from home. It is the cutest little beach town with plenty of restaurants and shops down the main strip. The beach area ramps and boardwalk sections are completely redone and everything is kept really clean. We came on a Saturday and paid $6 per adult and children were free 12 and under. We got there decently early and found a spot in the community parking lot very easily. The parking cost two dollars and hour. There is a cute playground on this beach too but it was hot and a little crowded so we stayed clear from it this time around. We will definitely be back to this beach! I started going to Sea Bright last year since it is closer to my house. It is way more quiet than Long Branch and other beaches nearby. There is parking right on the beach, but it is $8 to get on if you do enter on that beach. If you pass all of the restaurants (which is very convenient btw if you want a quick bite), there is a free part of the beach, but you do have to find street parking which is very hard if you leave late. Overall, I recommend this beach. read more

Sea Bright , NJ is a mix of different kinds of people. It has 7 members only beach clubs. Many of them come from the wealthy Rumson area. Frank Sinatra had a summer house in Rumson and Bruce Springsteen lives there as well as Richie Sambora the lead guitarist for Bonjovi. People come over for the beaches from Rumson during the day and depart at night. However this is not a snooty elitists town. People are friendly and open and it is diverse. There are also bar and restaurant workers and their families who frequent the beaches. There is also a doggy day care center. If Sea Bright sounds familiar from the news it is. It seems to flood frequently. Sea Bright is home to the Island style surf shop. Sea Bright has a reputation on it's surfing beach for being wild and breaking surf boards. The surfing beach is called The Anchorage and it is a public beach and charges a fee but parking is free but the beach is unguarded. Sea Bright has yoga on the beach, drum circles and all kinds of community fairs. There is a family movie night on the beach, a trolley hop to taste different restaurants in Sea Bright. There are skim boarding contests, parades, flea markets and other family events. Sea Bright also has active night life and many restaurants. Beach badges are $8.00 per day and $100.00 per season. read more

I've been here a bunch of times as a youngster since my highschool has a retreat mansion across from the beach sea wall. The traffic is cray cray since its like 1 lane in both directions. Expect to sit in the heat. The sea wall doesn't allow you to see the ocean unless you walk the wooden stairs over it and pay to get on the actual beach. The beach-goers are not the type to be cast for "The Jersey Shore"...they are more families that chill up in hea. read more

Exit 117 on the GSP, then Route 36 into town. Closer to NYC than most other locations. $8 entrance, free parking, and free restrooms. The water is mostly calm, so not good for surfers. The first day there I walked south all the way into Long Branch (about 4 miles from the main parking lot) and it was delightful. The second day I walked north into Sandy Hook, also delightful. No boarwalk here, and no amusement park, so the vibe is more quiet and laid back. Even though there are numerous "private beach clubs" all along the beach, no one stopped me or in anyway interfered with my walking through the area along the ocean. I think I could probably walk the entire Jersey Shore by the beach and no one would stop me until I get to Seaside Park. read more

**update**- very disappointed that you now have to pay for parking. It's still $8 to get on the beach, you would think free parking would make that sting a little less. We went on sunday 8/7/16 and it was so crowded, people were fighting over parking spaces and you were almost shoulder to shoulder on the beach. We ended up parking across the street at a private lot, paid the $20 so we didn't have the headache of parking in the overcrowded lot. We were told by the woman running the private lot that it gets insane when Sandy Hook up the road closes when it reaches capacity, so everyone turned away there comes to Sea Bright. So her advice is to come early! Still, beach is very clean and well maintained, and lunch at Tommy's Tavern across the street was great! read more
