Our man Neil really took care of us, his recommendation for a drink special called Fire Fly was spot on. It's a nice summer drink that has the taste of iced tea. You car barely even taste the alcohol. Do not let that fool you however as it is filled with liquor, dangerous! For food we ordered very basic bar food which were hot dogs and chicken fingers. Both were basic but extremely tasty. Overall, I love this beach club. The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. What will have me coming back time and time again is the service.

I spent 15 years at Surfrider and don't miss it. The vibe here is different and I am happy to pay my dues each year. I don't buy the feeling that if you can't afford it, or just won't spend the money, it sucks. The management has always been pleasant and fair with us. One thing I think often gets overlooked is keeping an eye on the people and our stuff. It's not easy. I don't worry about it, which is about the best compliment I can give. Waiting lists are a good thing, not having one tells you something quite different.

Some of the reactions from them were laced with expletives (not a shocker.) After that they moved by us and kept kicking sand on us because they turned the beach into a football field, with little regard for anyone else around them. I feel for that old man cause I don't have to go back to this beach but I'm sure he deals with these jerks on a reg.

Restrooms are available as well as a shower/rinsing area. There is a limited food option from the concession area and there isnt a "boardwalk" so you just enjoy the beach and playground within the vicinity. the playground though is amazing! its quite clean and i love that they have shaded areas to sit and relax. The play areas itself has no shade at all though so can get quite hot. Some porta potties available.

What sold us both times is primarily the location, It is located 3 blocks from the bayshore, (Miller Street Beach) 1 block to the Ice Cream Parlor, 2 Blocks to the Harmin Gas Station/ Convience store (Formally Cumberland Farms) and 2 blocks to the Bay liquor store. It is also really close to Veterans Park as well. They recently updated all cottages, installing roofs over all front porches, new courtyard seating, fire pit and Fountain! We stayed in cottage G this time instead of J because cottages I, G and H feature an extra twin daybed which was nice. If in the highlands nj or Monmouth county area and want a cool cottage like experience with a quint feel and with a good location than I HIGHLY recommend The SummerHouse!

What a great decision! Before we even left for the beach we called SHK and they told us the conditions were a bit too windy for paddle boarding. He advised us to check the Sandy Hook wind forecast before our next trip and suggested wind under 7mph is ideal. So a few days later we tried again. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the guys who works there. He told us a bit about how the weather affects your time on the water. Then he got our boards ready and explained where we could go. We had a blast but it was one heck of a workout. Midway through our first trip I exchanged my board out for a more stable (larger) one. What a difference! The 1 hour rental is enough time to explore the area and not feel completely beat. We loved our experience so much we went back 2 more times.
