We promptly let Celeste at key west engine know so we could get a new one ordered. We were not angry or accusatory with her. But her immediate reaction was to start demeaning us and defending herself. The pump has a known issue of having the lip seal either placed backwards or missing. The company's pumps come from two different sources. We simply asked if the second one did the same thing if we could order the jabsco one instead. She was angry and repeatedly lying/making false statements. We kinda laughed at first because we thought she was joking in some of the bizarre random unillicited comments she was making. Such as " do you even know what that is" " you must immediately write down your engine hours on a blank sheet of paper " " Mexico is the reason I can't control that" Out of no where she went on a derogatory rant about Mexicans. Not that it matters but My wife and I are not Spanish. We did not think this was her fault. We did not think she ordered the wrong part. We simply needed to exchange for a working pump. We already had to rent a vehicle to repeatedly drive to stock island to get this part. Yet she angrily tried to increase difficulty on a client with a broken engine by demanding we hand write on blank paper information we already gave her the day prior( engine hours and serial number of our engine) She said she didn't care and wouldn't give us our part. She thought she was forcing us to leave again to get the unneeded information ---engine hrs. We were always respectful and reasonable. She lacked any aspect of professionalism. I have almost 80 employees and tens of thousands of customers. No one would ever treat someone in this manner. Through many years of many different Diesel engines ( Detroit, Volvo, yanmar, nl etc) we have never had an interaction this unprofessional. We have dealt with some caddy women and arrogant men with my wife (who could run circles around them on our engines) but never anything like this. Avoid this place at all costs

I Got an estimate for oils and filters to be changed on my new/old '92 Sea Ray 500 Sundancer. The estimate was very high but they assured me that it would cover any contingency. The trouble started when I noticed that the racors fuel filters had not been changed and a belt on the genet had not been changed. When I brought this to their attention they would not admit to the possibility that they had made a mistake; would not even discuss it as a potential issue. Next they suggested that they change oil in the V-drives and I, unfortunately agreed. When the bill came in it was approximately $3000 for what am mounted to oil and filter changes on 3 engines - twice the initial estimate. I sent a number of emails asking for relief and got nowhere. I asked other, reputable mechanics to quote on the work actually done (including v-drive oil, etc. and they quoted around $1500 for all of the work - half of what KWES charged. In my opinion, any non-local should stay away from these very bad predators. Again, my opinion is that they didn't do all of the work they charged for, did shoddy work on the rest and simply doubled the price because once the work was done, I had no recourse.

My Story: I headed down to Key West for a quick day trip on Friday, December 23 (i.e. the holiday weekend and a time when we all want to get out of work early to spend time with our loved ones). Our car stopped running and we were in a bind! I called several auto repair shops at around 1:30/2:00 pm. Most of them were unavailable or unwilling to take on our job. Time was of the essence, since I had to return the car and catch a flight the next afternoon. Spoke with Max on the phone and he was super patient, friendly, and understanding. He explained that he wished I called 30 mins earlier, since he literally just wrapped up a holiday party they threw for his staff. The party had wrapped up and he sent his whole staff home. However he knew it was the holiday weekend, knew that I had never been to Key West before and would only have a little bit of time to enjoy it. So with that said he and the only other mechanic around decided to take our job on, even though they were supposed to head out themselves! They quoted me the best price I had heard, and let me know that they base their prices off of a more standardized, nationwide pricing system. So we get there and drop off the car, for a job that would clearly take several hours. In the meantime, we could have relaxed on their clean, comfy lounge area that has a large tv with a Roku, Netflix, etc. Instead, again because they knew it was our only chance to see Key West or maybe just out of the kindness of their hearts, they offered us a loaner car, free of charge. That way we were still able to head into town to explore, eat, and have fun! They finished the job, and were still patient and friendly with us, even though we didn't get back to their shop until late. I can't thank them enough! I still managed to have an amazing day, thanks in large part to them and their efforts!

I stopped by Oily's without an appointment to have a rattling noise looked at and within minutes Mike had his mechanic evaluate the problem and show me other obvious but hidden issues with my 2006 PT Cruiser which I had purchased at a very good price two years ago. We should get a look underneath our car more often! Even though it was going to be obvious that the repairs would greatly exceed the value of the car, Mike told me that he would still prepare a detailed estimate for me and shortly afterwards I received an email and estimate in which ended his comments with: "Please let me know if you have any questions - I know there is a lot of things here. You may want to somewhat retire the car or drive it very minimally - to me it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to spend so much on this vehicle but I will let you decide if anything here makes sense. Thanks for coming in today! Mike" Wishing I had a car worth fixing just to give Oily's the business and hopefully this review encourages others not to hesitate going there! Posted by Sandy
