My Hawaii fishing gang was spending a week in Sitka enjoying the great fishing and we seem to be at Sea Mart everyday purchasing various needs that arise during our stay. First of all they have an excellent wine and spirits store at the entry that we spent a lot of money at. The market itself was as full service as you get anywhere else in the US. We've bought fried chicken that was delicious and prepared meats from their meat section. The produce section was well stocked. In fact I don't think there was anything that we needed that we didn't find, including wasabi and sake. For a small community like Sitka this market is a gem. read more

Very good variety of food and drink, including some rarer items I wasn't sure we'd be able to find, like Ghirardelli cocoa mix and Blueberry Lemonade Mio. Best view from a grocery store parking lot I have ever seen and gold star for the fish-shaped bike rack. read more

Love this grocery store. It has everything you need! They have a deli and hot foods. It's much nicer and cleaner than the other local grocery store. Staff is very and helpful. I will be coming here to stock up on items when we visit Sitka again. read more

Sea Mart! The better of the two grocery stores in town. More like a mix between Safeway and Costco- they seem a little cheaper than the other store and have much more variety including great camping food options. read more

One of 3 stores on the island of Baranof, so take any review with a grain of salt. In the lower 48, this place would have gone out of business 3 decades ago....here,it is the best thing since sliced bread. Frustration: you have a 50/50 shot of things advertised being on sale actually ringing on sale at the register. Initially, I thought it was dumb luck, but now if am thinking it may be more sinister. How can 50-60% of my purchases, advertised as on sale in weekly flyer, actually ring up incorrectly. Engagements with the staff on the matter are greeted with apathy, skepticism and even defiance....and the onus of proof lies on the customer, not the business. Take a close look when Items are rung up (I'm hoping this review corrects the problem...). Additionally, be weary of anything (!!!) purchased with an expiration date...I guarantee that all products are within a month and 25-35% are within 5 days of expiration. I understand Alaska logistics since I deal with it daily, but I advise consumers to be smart when it comes to product expiration dates. In a town with very few options,it is within the top 2! Sea Mart is located in probably the most scenic location a grocery store can be. Oceanfront location, with waves that break a few feet below the parking lot. Possibly related to this location are high prices- imagine paying double for prepackaged foods from Costco. And the fish section, while offering a sparse, pricey selection of seafoods ( if you BUY fish in small amounts for personal consumption in the world's richest salmon and halibut fisheries, you need to research other options) sells the absolute BEST locally farmed oysters I have ever eaten . The cold water encourages the oysters to develop more fat, which turns buttery, melt-in-your mouth tender after a few minutes on a smoking hot grill. Those oysters, and the fact that the business hires friendly kids from the community, also keeping a good amount of its money circulating in the community while many of the businesses take money back to Seattle justify the price. read more

The liquor store attached to this place is worth 5 stars alone. Decent wine and hard alcohol choices, but the beer is unreal. One of the most extensive beer selections I have ever seen. Not to mention the growlers you can get. Great place to stock up on the essentials. read more
