The food I ordered was amazing. I ordered the Black Cod Tips over Coconut Cilantro Jasmin rice. Lingcod Sandwich and the Smoked Salmon Mac n Cheese. They did a great job getting really good food out of a food truck. The service was good and my only negative comment was that the young lady taking the orders could not explain what black cod tips are and what lingcod is. Our party of four had the black cod tips, salmon mac & cheese, rockfish tacos, and rockfish fish and chips. The black cod tips got two thumbs up from our companions and we all enjoyed the salmon mac & cheese (it was very tasty). The rockfish in the Fish and Chips was beer battered and cooked nicely (not overdone), and the coating was ok, not great (I like a thinner coating). The "chips" were ordinary extruded fries that didn't do anything for me. The fish tacos were ok. There didn't seem to be a lot of fish in them. (By comparison, the halibut tacos from The Fresh Fish AK truck at the same location had a lot of fish and were more enjoyable.) This is a very popular spot for cruise passengers and can get crowded when a ship is in port, which was the case when we were there. Explored town during a cruise stop and heard about this place from our shuttle bus driver. He recommended the smoked salmon Mac n Cheese and I knew I had to try this place! It's a little food truck on one of the main touristy streets of Sitka and it's parked by a movie theater. They do have tables you can stand and eat at. Very simple menu and a very friendly cashier. Food came out at a decent time. I ordered the smoked salmon Mac n Cheese and it was probably one of the best Mac n Cheeses I've ever had. The cavatappi noodles really held onto the cheese so that you had a generous amount of cheese with every bite. The breadcrumbs were also a nice contrast in texture. There were very small pieces of smoked salmon throughout that added a good texture too. To be honest, I didn't taste the salmon much, just a hint of salmon flavor here and there. No fishy taste at all! Not sure if it was because it was that fresh or the flavors of the cheeses overpowered it since the pieces were so small. But I really enjoyed it overall! 5/5 My family got the fish n chips and fish tacos and they all really enjoyed them! I'd say it's more of a snack kind of truck in regard to portions. Prices are a little high for the portions BUT I feel like it's quality, fresh food so it's worth it! Overall, this little truck has some solid food. Mac n Cheese is one of my absolute favorite foods and this place definitely did the dish justice whilst adding a touch of Alaska to it as well! I don't know if this is the best I have ever tasted but certainly a change to some of the limited menus the restaurant offer on the island. I got the two fish taco plate with the Jasmine Cilantro and lime rice. It was good, could have used more fish for the price. Ashmo's is a food truck in Sitka that does pretty brisk business. We were hungry for lunch and Ashmo's was highly recommended. We are from Honolulu and love fish tacos and Ashmo's did not disappoint. There was a generous portion of fishing the taco with a slaw and white sauce that was delicious. I only regret not getting three. We also tried the black cod tips with coconut rice. The cod was delicious but to be honest we were disappointed in the portion size. We took our meals back to the lodge and was surprised on how little fish was in our meals. I overheard a local recommending this Alaskan seafood truck operated by the Westmark hotel restaurant to another visitor, then moseyed over to the truck. There's a chalkboard with the daily specials. They were out of a lingcod dish, but had a halibut fish and chips dish, fish tacos, and black cod tips in a light homemade teriyaki sauce, over coconut rice. I opted for the black cod tips for $8, which were tender and delicious, perfect with a few dots of sriracha. The coconut rice was fragrant and perfectly done. It was quite the treat, though had I not be having a late lunch, I would have needed a small dish to supplement. Sitka was a stop on a cruise we were on from July 21 thru the 27th. After completing an art tour we asked the girl at the glass blowing studio where we could get the best fish n' chips; without hesitation, she said "Ashmo's, the food truck right next door." Although it was a bit cold and rainy, we took her advice and walked the 15 or so feet over to the truck. It is almost a given that when in Alaska, you will get fresh seafood. Well, it is definitely true of Ashmo's, or at least it can be said of the F n' C's. I'm giving this 5 stars because of the food; otherwise, they'd get only 4. For some reason, and this is not just this venue, but throughout AK, the majority of the locals seemed as though we visitors were nothing more than an annoyance. It's a beautiful place, smile every now and then and it will be even more beautiful. Nevertheless, stop by Ashmo's if you're ever in Sitka, you will not be disappointed.
