We had not been to Sitka for some time but saw this shop and had to stop in. We were greeted right away and were told that we could try any of the salt they had. They had blueberry and coffee flavored. Our favorite was the regular salt and the spruce tip. The shop also has plates, containers for salts as well as cocktail mixes, glasses, etc. Other nonalcoholic options were available. We found a great selection of cheeses and one of our favorites was a bag of Fried Egg potato chips from Spain. OMG they were amazing. A great place for a gift for someone. Original, flaky salt from the local waters. Very flavorful. The rest of the store is nice but mainly pricey ingredients and wooden bowls, cutting boards etc. There's a decent cheese selection, sauces, and spices. I was really interested in the salt selection. If you are walking around Sitka and browsing shops you should definitely stop off here. At the very least it is a great place to get inside for a minute, I was freezing and so happy for a chance to warm up. I also appreciate that the store is spacious and doesn't feel overly crowded like many of the other stores I went into. But what makes it stand out is that you can do a sea salt tasting. I really love salt, so of course I love flavored salt. They have so many interesting flavors, so many that I did not want to try all of them. They gave me very hefty samples, which I was able to share with my group. You first decide which ones you would like to try and then the person behind the counter makes sure you sample them in an appropriate order so as not to ruin the flavors. They have Sitka spruce, blueberry, rosemary, coffee bean, etc. I found the Alder Smoked Flake Sea Salt to be my favorite. They come in a variety of packages and sizes if you want to take some home. I think it makes the perfect souvenir you can use for a long time after you get home. If you are not into salt they sell a lot of other cool food items too. My group members really enjoyed some chocolate we picked up. Another person also found a ton of gifts for her family members. Everyone who worked here was great. Stop by and check them out. I visited Alaska Salt Co. in Sitka almost a year ago, and I'm STILL using the incredible salts I purchased from this quaint, locally owned shop. Talk about quality that lasts! Every time I sprinkle a little of their salt on my dishes, I'm instantly transported back to the breathtaking beauty of Sitka. But let me tell you about the hot sauce--wow. It's ridiculously good! Sadly, I ran out (because I was definitely overusing it), but it's genuinely one of the best I've ever had. A perfect balance of heat and flavor that I'm already dreaming of restocking. I won't be back to Sitka until next May, but you can bet Alaska Salt Co. is going to be one of my first stops. Not only to stock up on all my favorites but also to explore what new treasures they have. The only thing better than their incredible products is the service. The staff was so warm and welcoming, and their passion for what they do shines through in every detail. This is more than just a shop--it's an experience. LOVE this store! I bought salt to go with our fresh caught salmon! The staff is wonderful! They are so nice and friendly! The salt is no ordinary salt, and it tastes so good! The sea salt chocolate caramels are amazing! So good! Look forward to visiting next year! This is one of those luxury items that you never knew you needed until you taste it and realize, it makes or breaks your dish! First of all, the store itself is lovely! One of the people in my group said, it's a salt store in Sitka, styled for Malibu, CA! The lovely couple who owns the store shared their story about accidentally leaving a pot on the heat and discovering the beautiful salt crystals while on their first anniversary trip. They showed us how the inverted pyramid salt crystals look at various different sizes (for better viewing) - the chemistry geek in me couldn't help but cheer! The fact that they've infused the salt with flavors - some fun varieties like Spicy, some local flavors like Blueberry, some unexpected like Matcha! Not only do they have pairing suggestions: Matcha on sushi; Blueberry on brownies! but they have a tasting bar with a variety of salts and even those blueberry brownie bites, or whatever is baking that day! I also bought some salted caramels and salted chocolate covered caramel. Having the salt dish on your next buffet dinner would be an impressive touch! I bought a book about salts, how their made, the different types of salts and which salts are best on what. I ended up buying a spicy sea salt for fruit and a blackberry sea salt that they used on some brownies. Certainly going to make those! Plan on one more trip in to get some sea salt for all the fish we caught. read more

I love this store! While in Sitka last month, I stopped in to check out their products. I bought some of their Rosemary Salt and their body scrub. We love the Rosemary salt so much, we almost finished it. So I went online and bought some more of it as well as some of their Lemon/Lime salt which I am super excited to cook with! To be honest, I thought the order was going to take awhile but I received my order in no time! Thank you for being so AWESOME! Oh, by the way, I absolutely love their Body scrub!
