This Salon is the worst. The owner rips you off left and right and in any opportunity she gets. She did mask and blow dry for $100. She is changing high end salon prices for below mediocre work. The hair cut she gave me made me look like a chicken. She bashes everyone's work thinking she is Vidal Sassoon. Her salon is from Flintstones era. If you want someone to make you feel ugly about yourself or have your self esteem crashed go to Kathy. My hair was long thick and curly and she cut it short on top and layered in the bottom and it is unmanageable now. She chopped it to my shoulder length. I don't know how She pursued me to Cut it, she kept talking about my ends but she destroyed it. Be carful with TJ max and Marshall expired products she puts on your hair mixing it with some Type of cheap Keratin to make it look sleek and charging you $100 for wash and blow. She swears that the masks she uses are the best but that is a lie, they are expired and sell for $10 at most for the large bottle. Please be carful and if you ever decide to go do not let her color or cut your hair. I hate what she did to my hair. Now it's falling bad from all the garbage she used on me. read more

I arrived at the salon today with my natural shade 7 medium blond hair that was tinted with a color depositing conditioner.. (overtone, it washes out) I purchased a single process color cut and blowout on Groupon. When I sat down at the chair, I was told that a single process refers to just coloring the roots (never mentioned in the Groupon). This isn't true because I've been doing single process dye jobs for years. None the less I agree to have value of my Groupon (120$) applied toward the overall service. I asked for a 1/2" trim with NO layers since I have thin hair. Ended up with layers and 3-4 inches off the shortest layer. Now the color...I'm naturally blonde and I had colored my hair with overtone conditioner (it wasnt dyed red). She bleached my whole head except the roots, it looks awful. Then went in and color corrected and glossed the whole thing and charged me 100$ for that. Everyone knows bleached "red" hair turns orange. So I'm left with splotchy blonde streaks and roots that look worse than when I came. The process took 4 hours and I was told I need to come back for more processing. This botched job cost 250$! She didn't tell me that the salon was cash only so I had to walk across the street in the cold weather to to withdraw cash. I ended up paying a 9% tax just for using my credit card and she didn't have the prices listed anywhere which I thought was very sketchy. She was yelling at me over and over about the groupon, telling me to pay full price and use the single process next time I come in. (WHAT NEXT TIME!?) Later when I saw the mess she made, I asked for refund. I was told that she wasn't finished with the process and that I needed to come back.. My second time here at Seabelle, and it's a first for me to go back twice to the same salon! I am extremely particular about my hair color, and so far for years I could not find any place in Manhattan or Astoria that made me happy. I went to Seabelle with a Groupon initially and then decided to add more services. With the advice of Kathy I went for balayage, color and cut, and I absolutely adored her work! I came out looking much better than I have had in years So I returned for my roots and a glaze, and once again I absolutely loved it!!! I am giving 1 star because they turned my hair ORANGE, put chunky/streaky highlights in my bangs when I simply wanted a balayage style, and I had to pay nearly $100 at a SECOND SALON just to fix the mess. A waste of over 4 HOURS of my day. So, I went in for balayage, hoping to lighten my current balayage color from caramel to blonde and leave my roots and base color the way it was. I also didn't really want a cut but she talked me into getting layers because it would "look better with balayage." So I went with it even though I wasn't really sure about it. The place was quiet at first but then many customers came in and my stylist (the owner I presume) kept bouncing back and forth between me and other clients. They were also training a new assistant who really did not know what she was doing and it was very uncomfortable for the customers and the poor girl trying to figure out what to do. Fast forward to washing out the dye and taking out the foils, a different person starts putting this stuff in my hair, not telling me what it was so I asked finally and she said it was a toner. Now I am pretty trusting so I just said ok and let her continue. The main stylist said okay, 20 minutes (no timer set) and went on to do someone else's hair. Well time went on...and on... and finally they decide to rinse my hair out. The assistant washed my hair, apparently not to the liking of Cathy, so she started to do it herself, and then the moment no girl wants to hear at the salon - "Oh...." and all the stylists come to look. "Oh...." Finally I get to see in a mirror. MY ROOTS WERE BRIGHT ORANGE. I never asked for ANYTHING to go on my roots, my natural hair color!! Best part, she says "SORRY FOR THE MISTAKE" and nervously laughs about it. This is people's hair we are talking about, that we are paying money for and trusting you to do be experts about. Then she asks if I want to keep it!!!!! WHAT?!?!? So she goes back and mixes some brown dye and starts smattering it through the orange, and hours are just passing by as I sit in this place, mortified and in disbelief of what has happened. So they wash it out again, and okay it is not orange anymore but still not my natural color and its a weird color I do not like. Then the bangs. THey looked liked a 2000s pop star with bright blonde chunky streaks. And the balayage was even streaky!! The only impressive thing was that she got my hair to turn blonde from the caramel brown color it was, that she later admitted she herself was surprised and probably should have told me she might not be able to do it in the first place. (WHAT?! So lying to customers, great!) Even leaving was horrible. The place was a million degrees, she upcharged me the original groupon price for the "light blonde" color and because of that I didn't have enough cash. So she said okay you can pay card then, and then she hits me $10 tax for the card without even warning me. No way. Now I had to go to the ATM with this horrible hair and come back, and yes I didn't give a full 20% percent tip and she smirked when I handed it to her - honestly she is lucky i even PAID at all let alone tip anything! As I am leaving she tells me to call if I need anything..... please. I made the first appointment possible at another salon to fix the disaster because even though I could have gone back to this joke of a salon and demanded they fix it, I wouldn't trust anyone working there with another second of my time. I had to get low lights to fix the bangs and blend the balayage better, as well as color correction throughout all of the roots. They even fixed the cut, saying it was 1/2 inch off and not even straight. Please, please - save your time and money and go elsewhere where your hair, time, money, and look are respected. read more

Kathy was amazing! I, spur of the moment, went for the lob with the balayage/ombre combo from seriously long hair with mediocre color and Kathy rocked it. She was very cautious and spent her time really placing the color and making sure she was thorough. She did have other clients and my visit lasted from 1pm until about 6:20pm but it was well worth the wait and the results! While waiting for her to see me, I almost left because I was nervous and all the other clients in the salon were older women seeing the other stylist but once I spoke to Kathy, she helped me feel confident about the cut! I bought the groupon for about $93 and added an additional $75 fee because of the extent of the cut. I tipped well considering the care put into my hair and will certainly be back for touchups an any other crazy spur of the moment style refresh! read more

Kathy did a tremendous job with my hair. I purchased a Groupon online but since I hadn't done any work on my hair in 4 years, I had to do additional color and toner for my hair. Kathy was very helpful and listened to what I wanted. She also made me hot coffee to keep me warm on the cold and snowy afternoon. Terrible and completely unprofessional. I purchased a Groupon for this salon for Balayage cut and blow dry. When I called to make the appointment, I was forced into coming in within the next 3 days. the receptionist stated they were "booked up" after that. I made the appointment for Sunday. Someone called the day before without even identifying herself and thought she was calling a different client...but she ended up confirming my appointment for the following day. I set up my appointment at this salon after I realized I hadn't gotten my hair cut for a year and it was looking pretty rough. My hair had lost all its shape and I had an insane amount of split ends. Kathy was super nice and the second she picked up her scissors it was clear she's a really skilled hairdresser. She really put all her focus on my hair and took her time to make sure every part of it came out the way she intended. When everything was finished, I was stunned by how amazing my hair looked--Kathy gave me exactly what I wanted (a trim for the dead ends and some face framing pieces/general shaping) and made it look better than I ever could've imagined! I feel so much more confident now and will definitely be back in a few months for my next trim. I am writing this review because of the apalling way I was treated at this place. I used a groupon deal to visit this place, furthermore, from a recommendation from a coworker. I also called them three times in advance, to ask about their special, regarding the groupon "coupon," and made sure this included the haircut, belayage, and blowout option. I was going for the balayage option, and was excited to show my husband the results. Upon their recommendation, they asked me not to purchase this particular deal as they offered to match it at the store. After arriving at the place, an employee, likely the manager, kept pushing me to spend more, in order to get "better services" to get better results according to her. I did make it abundantly clear I was not interested in her extra's and I knew what I wanted and expected. I asked for caramel highlights, but I was still pushed towards the blonde option. I went with it and I didn't complain as I liked the end product, I couldn't complain. However, here is the kicker... when the time for payment came, she didn't honor the groupon deal I agreed to and pushed me towards paying extra for a "special developer" during my balayage process. I did not ask for all of these extra's, it was dependent on her. When I refused to these extra charges, mind you, on her part, she proceeded to throw my payment up in the air and even cursed at "my fucking money" while doing it! I still paid the whole amount, and I actually felt bad for the way another employee of this place had to come pick up the money off the counter. The manager Kathy can keep the money and her attitude both in check. I am not here to complain about my money spent, or my coworkers recommendation. And believe me, I am not interested in getting my money back, or deals for "next time." This business, and especially this bitch named Kathy should know how a business works, and to be able to honor things they advertise. I bought their deal for hair cut, color, and blow-dry from Groupon,. when I showed up for my appointment they told me I need to pay $100 extra ( I paid $89 for the deal) I went through the deal and read it again I did not find anything about extra charges. Let me start by saying I have been living in NYC for 4 years and I have just now FINALLY found my go-to hairdresser after my experience with Seabelle. Kathy is truly amazing and talented. She was the fourth hairdresser I went to to get a specific look, that none of the previous hairdressers were able to achieve. It was simply a blonde/platinum-blonde balayage, coming from naturally dark hair. After three failed attempts my hair looked absolutely horrendous and my only intention in making this appointment was to just try to "fix" my hair and not make it look so horrible. What I did not expect was to come out of the salon with the exact look I had been trying to get this whole time. Kathy spent the whole afternoon on my hair (big, dark, curly, stubborn hair) and gave me exactly what I wanted, which three other hairdressers could not do. The fact that she was willing to spend the full amount necessary to give me the exact look I wanted instead of rushing through what should be a lengthy process is a testament to her dedication to her work. On top of that, the whole environment of the salon was great in general. Everyone there was in a happy, friendly, quirky mood, making the experience as enjoyable as possible. FIVE STARS! I came here because I bought a Groupon for cut and color before the holidays. I usually do my own hair but I wanted to get it done professionally as a birthday treat to myself. As a natural blonde who always wants to be blonder, my BEFORE hair was over processed.. one length, very blah. I needed a change! I liked my "light cool blonde" but wanted to go back to a more natural and matainence-free tone to get me through the winter. I expressed this to Kathy who listened and suggested half head highlights to maintain my cool blonde and lowlights to pull in my natural shade. As someone with 20+ years experience, she is a true color expert and I trusted my hair in her hands. In the past I had had some bad hair experiences at other salons, when I go to the city I feel like I am being rushed in and out and overcharged. This was not the case at Seabelles. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!! You think you GOT A DEAL when you see a GROUPON that includes, cut, BAYALAGE and blow dry for $88 WHOA!!! I said let's do it!!! .......wrong move!!!!!!!!!!!! Few weekends ago I was feeling excited as I walked into this place with a two pictures of Pinterest inspiration. I was booked in with the "assistant" AKA receptionist... last minute so I was confident and thought this would be my lucky day. Three hours later, as the hairdresser tousled my new 'do and showed me the results, I felt confused and was clearly squirming in the seat. I felt hot and sweaty and I just wanted to get outside to reassess. The hair stylist keep saying It's beautiful and the fact she seemed pleased and was using phrases like 'sunkissed' "chunky" ..confused me. When I realized I've notice that small blond little traces of hair were falling on the cape...(Im a brunette) I asked her is this is normal and she kept saying Yes yes ..... when she took the foil paper out OH MY DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I had CHUNKS of blond and orange all over my hair!!!! 'ginger spice' hair. I started crying hysterical!!!! and asked her to wash my hair and I left the place... crying and driving at the same time I called My Hair Lady and felt so bad cuz I only do my hair with her... My hairdresser was appalled by the first job she said "THEY BURNED YOUR HAIR" you'll need tons and tons of treatments to restore and make it look healthy again.
