I received a maintenance fee on my account and inquired why. They told me because my balance…read moredropped below the required amount one time that month. I then asked if I could convert my account to a free account and they told me only if I came to a branch office in person. So I went to the bank on my day off and asked the same question, was told it was converted, and I left. Today, about a month later, I noticed a maintenance fee again. I called to inquire and got the exact same story. There was no sign of my visit to the branch office or request to convert my account. They also informed me they do not have any free accounts. All of their accounts have various requirements to meet or you get charged. So I don't understand why I was not told this before. This lack of accountability is out of control. I have only kept that account open so my kids and I can easily transfer money to each other through Zelle. I am closing my account and only using credit unions from now on. I don't know what I was thinking because TD has been nothing but a problem for me since I started with them. They also rejected my very first wire transfer, a very large sum of money for a down payment on the house I was purchasing, because the incoming transfer had my middle name but my TD account did not. They kept $40 for a reject fee too. Imagine my stress as it was Friday before the scheduled close at 9am Monday. I was also driving cross country in a UHaul by myself having to stop every 30 minutes to call and make sure it got worked out for Monday morning because the truck didn't have blue tooth. Actually most lending institutions are deceptive in this sense. But, this institution uses deceptive IT practices to post items on or after they know you have holds. They don't debit this hold from your standing balance. They will also put the debit on a day where you had funds, but put the date of the debit as the previous date, which is deceptive because what you see on your screen isn't reconsiled with what's on their screen, allowing them to defend the descrepensy and allowing them to argue and dismiss your inquiry into this fraud. Dispute all suspicious activity. They are also set up to not be user friendly, hence the no weekend lobby hours, and closing before 5. More fraud and deceptive, predatory banking practices.....

Also this bank relied on a third-party app Zelle to do direct bank transfers everybody's heard of it usually they're built into the bank app. They use the App Store app which Zelle closed down in 2025 because less than 2% of bank transfers were used in the app think about that and think about how they're saying they're high-tech only 2% of Zelle users use the third-party app meaning, every other bank in the United States has it basically built in they can't even do that. There's nothing high-tech about this bank at all I mean, literally zero nothing I'm nothing at all like I can't even come up with one thing that is anything remotely considered a high tech. It's a joke. There's awards have to be cherry picked, or the award people who had to been on crack.

"You DON'T Matter More"…read more Let me start off by saying that I am mortified at the treatment I have received from certain individuals within Bangor Savings Bank. I have had EXCEPTIONAL service from countless tellers, loan officers, and managers within BSB, but what has happened to me just weeks prior to Christmas is VASTLY different from my previous experiences... A brief background on me: I am a young professional with 8 years experience in the medical field and with a newly started (and thus far successful) Maine based small business. My troubles started approximately 2 weeks ago (Beginning of Dec. 2017) After having my card shut off without warning. I called Bangor Savings Bank [the bank I have used for well over a decade] to see what the issue was with my card. A polite young lady I spoke with informed me that there was "suspicious activity" on my account. After discussing the nature of my transactions (in the span of a few weeks I had to make multiple deposits as well as had to write multiple checks for my business. Side-note: this NEVER overdrew my account.), I was assured that everything was fine and that my account was in good standing. 2 weeks later, I receive a "Termination of Banking Relationship" letter from Hammond Street Assistant Branch Manager; Krystal Trott. I find it ironic that the cordial and polite woman whom I spoke with on the phone... A.) Shut off my card without as much as an initial courtesy phone call B.) Assured me that my account was in good standing, prior to sending a Termination Letter. Word to the wise for small business owners. Save yourself the headache and find a bank or credit union who doesn't practice dishonesty and deceit. I will gladly be switching ALL of my accounts out of Bangor Savings Bank.
