We also wanted formal training and certifications and we found this place online. We also thought seeing Virginia and the east coast a bit would have been a great time for my wife Brittany's birthday. So we flew to Virginia's SailTime courses instead of one of the the ones in our own state. We flew from California and I spoke with Connie and she was kind enough to let us stay on a 41 ft yacht (Adiona, a 41 ft Jenneua) for our stay in Virginia which saved us about half a grand on hotels. When we landed a lady named Brooke made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. When we got on board to unpack there was even a note waiting for us that said happy birthday. Brooke was a sweetheart for sure and we felt like family by the time we had set our bags down. She made sure of it. We met our captain the next morning. A man named Jim Lant who took us through our 101, 103 and 104 courses over the next 6 days. We had a GREAT time and I honestly didn't want to leave when we finished up our last tests. Those six days we sailed every day and every place we sailed too seemed to have friendly people there who all knew each other and our captain Jim. The first ocean sail my wife and I ever did together was from Norfolk to cape Charles and that's pretty cool. Well miss the people and sailing for sure! Everyone who loves sailing should come here and meet Connie, Jim and Brooke. You won't regret it and we won't ever forget it. Jim is the BEST captain.

Captain Jim was absolutely amazing. He was so patient and did such a fantastic job of teaching us about sailing and he allowed all of us to take part in one way or another. He was so good at including everyone and making sure each person received direct guidance from him. It's generally really hard to find activities that all 6 of us enjoy due to the age range but this turned out to be an absolutely perfect day. I would highly recommend Sailtime if you are thinking of trying this adventure! Working with them on scheduling was so easy and smooth as well. Be warned, you will want a sail boat afterward.....

Captain took us out even though half the party he expected bailed, and he wouldn't be making much on the day. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that comes through and makes for a better time. Both Captain and First Mate were very helpful and attentive, and we caught more fish than we could keep. Boat was in great shape, and the whole day was a blast. My family and I met the tiki boat at lynnhaven public boat ramp. Captain Robbie was our guide he greeted everyone with a smile and a lei that was a nice touch. The boat was a 30 by 15 foot pontoon boat wonderfully decorated tiki style with ample comfortable seating no matter where you sit had a great view of the inlet.Learned a lot about the inlet on the cruise over to our first destination lots of bars restaurants and beautiful houses cruising down the river every one waving at us. Tiki boats bring good vibes . We then arrived at the park beach Captain Robbie expertly docked us. Had a swim call and picnic it was so nice pretty much had the place to ourselves. Then back on board to cruise the rest of the inlet. Watched a beautiful sunset! I am really happy with this tiki trip my daughter said it was the highlight of her week. We were able to bring our own food and drinks onboard, and had the option to play whatever music we wanted. We told Jay that we wanted to see dolphins, and he knew exactly where to go for that. We did end up seeing lots of dolphins, and Jay also gave us a lot of fun facts about dolphins as well. I would 100% recommend taking a ride with Jay, for any of the available tours, and I already can't wait to come back to VA beach to take a ride with him again!

The captains on the boat were so nice and did such a great job! You definitely need sunscreen and don't wear a hat, you'll definitely lose it! They have cold water on board for $3 each, so convenient as it is hot! The tickets were about $35 each and parking was $10. The ride is one hour, 30 minutes at a smooth pace and then FAST for the 30 minutes back. I highly recommend this ride if you haven't done it!

Honestly, my kids had the BEST time. We had a group of 6 people and I'm not kidding, we probably caught 40 fish between all of us--mostly Croaker. We kept a handful to do the "biggest fish pool" challenge, but didn't win. My boys were disappointed about that, but has nothing to do with Rudee Tours. Really professional captain and crew--the first mates were super friendly and nice. They also were super attentive to my boys and engaged with them a lot, which made them feel very special. Once back in the boat, we got to enjoy watching the other three groups of people have their turn. Each group (couple) got to be in the air about 5 minutes, then get dipped in the water toward the end, then back up in the air before landing on the boat. The rougher the water, the more likely someone will get seasick while riding in the boat. The operators provide sick bags and have an awesome sense of humor! And a great playlist!
