Do not go to this dive shop. I was new to the area and brought my regulator and bc in for their…read moreannual service. It cost 3x what I have paid in the past, the staff was not friendly or knowledgable. They gave me a time estimate of 3 weeks ( which is normal) but when I called to see if they were done after three weeks they said 3-4. They also sent my equipment off premises without telling me. This is after I called ahead and asked if their shop could work on the brand and type of reg I have. When I asked where my gear was the guy immediately put me on hold and transferred me to another woman who was rude and tried to tell that no shop in the country works on regulators on site. This shop is overpriced, incompetent, and seem much more interested in selling crappy jewelry than in scuba diving. If you are in the area go to Lynnhaven Dive Center in Virginia Beach.

It was obvious that they weren't merely focused on selling or upselling gear. Thank you Mason and Chris for helping me select the right equipment for me. Finally, let me talk to my fellow retired folks who may have wanted to learn SCUBA, but now feel like that ship has sailed. Get off the couch, head over to the Lynnhaven Dive Center, and take that first step. You can do it, and you won't regret it.

I signed up with Chesapeake Bay Dive Center and it was the best thing I have ever done. The instructors are amazing the staff is unbelievably knowledgeable and friendly and the owners are some of the best people you'll ever meet. Instructor Mike taught us all the classroom and Pool portions step-by-step then we were joined at the lake by instructor Sam. Between the two instructors we felt safe and knew we were learning everything we need to know to become competent divers. I highly recommend the shop if you want to learn to scuba dive.

It's not hard to get into a discussion about favorite spots, photography, or any other subject around diving. I went in to pick up a lavacore shirt for under my 3mm suit and the had plenty of them in stock in my size. Shop is brand new, brightly lit, festooned with pictures taken by the proprietors and freshly painted! Complete with changing rooms and a class room for teaching PADI certifications. Only two minor misses (one which is being corrected soon, so if this review is a little old, disregard the first), they currently can't do Nitrox and they don't have a pool on-site. They are contracted to do classes with a local university pool, so for getting your certifications it's absolutely a win, but if you just want to try out your new BCD before going on a boat dive, it might be a little more complicated. This is a great addition to Chesapeake and will save many folks a 40 minute drive to other shops in the area. Plus, with planned dive trips in the future, I think Scuba Commander has a bright future ahead of it.

Horrible Customer Service…read more I went in last week to sign up for a snorkelling class. I showed up right when they opened. I was first greeted by a young man. When I asked to sign up for the class, he said he had to ask the older man since he was new. The older man came out and I started to explain what class I wanted to sign up for. His cell phone rang and he picked up he call. I could hear he was talking about personal stuff. I could not believe he just kept talking when I was standing there. He obviously did not care about me as a customer. I could tell the young man was uncomfortable as the older man just kept talking on his cell phone. I will never come back to this place even though the reason I tried this place was because of the mostly positive reviews.

I've been a certified and professional diver for 23 years, I also happen to play paintball. I brought in a legal tank within hydro and the scuba yoke adapter for the fill. The fact that they "Don't" and won't is clear evidence of their lack of knowledge, competency and understanding of High pressure Air and their components. I've never ever found a Scuba shop to not want to offer this as a service. Judging as they have 3 out of 5 stars without this review, I understand why. I tightened them up (thankfully checked them ahead of dive so no loss of use or incident). Sent an email and received a reply with apology, and they say hoses were tightened to spec, and that hoses do that due to coiling. Hmm, ok. 2nd trip, 2 months later and a full tank now free flows thru primary and secondary, couldn't stop it. Rented a reg for 2 days while I found a shop in Bonaire (Carib Inn, great folks). They had to adjust the intermediate but said it's about 20% off where it should be. I cant recommend Underwater Adventures given my experiences with such a critical oeice of gear.

My wife and I have been sailing a few years on lakes in 25 footers and wanted to get out on some…read morebigger waters and on bigger boats. We also wanted formal training and certifications and we found this place online. We also thought seeing Virginia and the east coast a bit would have been a great time for my wife Brittany's birthday. So we flew to Virginia's SailTime courses instead of one of the the ones in our own state. We flew from California and I spoke with Connie and she was kind enough to let us stay on a 41 ft yacht (Adiona, a 41 ft Jenneua) for our stay in Virginia which saved us about half a grand on hotels. When we landed a lady named Brooke made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. When we got on board to unpack there was even a note waiting for us that said happy birthday. Brooke was a sweetheart for sure and we felt like family by the time we had set our bags down. She made sure of it. We met our captain the next morning. A man named Jim Lant who took us through our 101, 103 and 104 courses over the next 6 days. We had a GREAT time and I honestly didn't want to leave when we finished up our last tests. Those six days we sailed every day and every place we sailed too seemed to have friendly people there who all knew each other and our captain Jim. The first ocean sail my wife and I ever did together was from Norfolk to cape Charles and that's pretty cool. Well miss the people and sailing for sure! Everyone who loves sailing should come here and meet Connie, Jim and Brooke. You won't regret it and we won't ever forget it. Jim is the BEST captain.

We went on a 3 hour sail from 9-12 on July 14, 2018. It was my husband and I and our 4 children…read moreages 6-15. This was truly an exceptional experience for all of us. Captain Jim was absolutely amazing. He was so patient and did such a fantastic job of teaching us about sailing and he allowed all of us to take part in one way or another. He was so good at including everyone and making sure each person received direct guidance from him. It's generally really hard to find activities that all 6 of us enjoy due to the age range but this turned out to be an absolutely perfect day. I would highly recommend Sailtime if you are thinking of trying this adventure! Working with them on scheduling was so easy and smooth as well. Be warned, you will want a sail boat afterward.....
