This was our second trip to Scotland within the last two years and our first with Greg. We were guided through Orkney, the North Coast 500, and the Outer Hebrides before ending our tour in Glascow. Greg had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Scotland including the history, culture, politics and environment. We marveled at the neolithic sites, beaches, cliffs, sea stacks, birds and more. Greg was closely attuned to our interests and made every day another perfect learning experience and adventure. It was quite apparent that Greg takes his job very seriously put his heart and soul into giving us a phenomenal trip. We have done a great deal of traveling throughout the years and Greg is by far one of the best tour guides that we have ever had.

There were 4 of us...myself, my husband and two of our grown sons, one of which had never been to Scotland before. We had been planning this trip for almost a year and Greg was so helpful in helping us figure out what we could see in the time that we had available. The must haves were castles and distilleries and other historical sights along with the beautiful winter scenery of the highlands and then down the coast to Campbeltown. Throughout the planning stage Greg was very attentive and helpful with mapping out what we could see and gave us suggestions of places that matched our interests. Once we had the itinerary down there was always flexibility to add or subtract stops depending on weather and how the day was going. Greg picked us up in his very clean and comfortable van. It was stocked with lots of water and hand sanitizer and could accommodate our multiple pieces of luggage (9 suitcases, a duffel bag and 4 backpacks) as this was the back half of our 2 week trip. He made sure that we were warm and comfortable and we always felt safe with his driving even in the snow and ice. We could have never made the drive on our own to the places that we wanted to see so we were very thankful that we had Greg doing the drive. Greg picked us up from Edinburgh in snowy weather and we started our drive towards Stirling. We visited the Kelpies, The Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and Doune Castle. We love history and like to walk so it was a very busy day for us. We ate lunch at the little cafe at the Wallace monument, which Greg suggested, and we had the best scones we ever had! After an overnight stay in Doune we headed to Oban. We had a 3:30 Oban Distillery tour but we still managed to take a scenic drive through the highlands with several picture stops and a tasty lunch at Clachaig Inn. Once in Oban we stopped at Dunstaffnage castle and then on to the distillery. On the drive to Oban Greg gave us so much information about the geography and history of the area. After the distillery tour Greg dropped us at our hotel and gave us some suggestions of stops we could do the next day on our way down to Campbeltown. He also gave us a great suggestion for dinner and it did not disappoint! The next day we drove to Campbeltown to do 2 distillery tours:1 at Glen Scotia and 1 at Springbank. Along the way we stopped at Carnasserie castle and drove by the Kilmartin Glen burial grounds. We stopped in Tarbert for lunch at a cute cafe and then on to Campbeltown. The distillery tours were wonderful and we bought several bottles of scotch to take back to the US with us (in one of our many suitcases!) After the tours Greg took us to our hotel. Greg also recommended several local pubs for us to try that night which we did! The last day of our trip we drove north on a different route on our way to Inveraray. We stopped at a the Saddell Abbey ruins and saw the magnificent stone carvings from the late 1400's. Then we stopped at Skipness castle for a look....After that stop we drove to The George Inn where we had a wonderful lunch by the fireplace. The last stop on our trip was a pleasant surprise that Greg happened to find for us. My husband has ancestry ties to Scotland and there is a Loch, a river and a Glen there with his surname. Greg drove us to a bridge that is over where that river runs and he took our picture on that bridge. That was a special moment for us especially for my husband and sons. Our tour concluded with a nice drive to Glasgow where Greg dropped us off at the airport for our flight to back to London. Greg provided outstanding and professional service as a guide and driver. He was so personable and the casual atmosphere made us happy and at ease during the whole trip. His knowledge of the history and geography of his homeland and is top notch. He is a great ambassador for his country. We plan to return to Scotland and when we do Greg will be a part of that trip!

The guide was fantastic - we had Tony - and walked us through the history of the company before the tour. It was great not only to hear about the history of Tennents, but also a bit about the cultural and labor history of beer. You get to actually walk through the working factory and see every step of the process. The bar at the end is cool as well, we opted for the flight featuring exported beers. Really unique chance to try some things not available locally. Cannot recommend this attraction enough.

Recently I attended the Scoop & Smoak Streetfood Cartel Event here, and had an absolutely amazing…read moretime trying various different street foods that the two different companies had to offer. It was a ticketed event and I managed to get a ticket at the last minute, so ventured on over as I was already in town. The event was held in a massive warehouse inside SWG3, and consisted of both Scoop and Smoak having massive New York-style street food trucks set up in the back of the room, cooking a beautiful smelling (and equally beautifully tasting) selection of foods from mac and cheese, pork belly and chicken sliders to lamb neck, smoked trout and a monkfish BLT. The food was exceptional, if a bit pricy, and I had a great time with Emma M and a selection of other food bloggers! The venue itself is wonderful and would lend itself nicely to any sort of event; be it a birthday party or a massive Yelp event with stalls and drinks and merryness. It can be a bit cold as it is a warehouse, and the toilets are located no where near the main room, but if you can look past all the negatives, including it's slightly dodgy looking location, then you would love this place for any sort of event.

I went along to SWG3 at the weekend for 'BrewDog Presents' and I wasn't quite sure what to expect,…read moregiven its remote location and look of an old abandoned warehouse. Inside it basically is just a big warehouse and is quite cold as a result, so I'd recommend wrapping up if you're coming to an event here. There are a few different rooms with lots to look at, including an atmospheric red-lit lounge area with a stage and also a bar in the foyer with retro stools and an arty broken mirror on the wall. Some of Glasgow's Street Food Cartel were there, as they often are, and I had some amazing vegan pizza with butternut squash from the So La Ti Dough guys. Beer was the drink of the day, naturally, and there was plenty on offer from the various bars throughout the venue. Big, bare, airy and remote, SWG3 was a bit cold and soulless for my liking, but it's ideal for many of the art events and exhibitions it hosts.

This place is huge and definitely one of the better places to go for a walk in Glasgow. Last week when it was sunny we went for an evening stroll round the park and it was really busy. Everyone seemed to be there, from joggers, to walkers, dogs (usually with a walker) and people just sitting on the grass enjoying spending some time chatting to friends or watching the world go by. It's so big there is room for everyone and you can let your dog off the lead with out them interfering with the runners or cyclists who are flying by you. We did huge circuit and there is plenty to see. Great views for photos, a nice big pond to saunter round, a tall flagpole and even a mini stage of sorts. This is not a place that I have been loads in the past, but it is certInly somewhere I will be going a lot more in the future. Definitely one of the best parks in Glasgow. (Even if it is on the south side :) )

It hands-down beats our old neighbour Kelvingrove, but maybe that's because I'm a secret granny and I love a bit of peace and quiet! I run here regularly (yeah ok, like once a month) and make an effort to find a new path every time. It's deceptively big! Make your way up to the flagpole, you can't miss it, and you will get gloooooorious views (for Glasgow, anyway) of the city. Sometimes I feel weird because I don't have a dog or a small child, as this park is a hot-spot for both, but it makes for a nice atmosphere and I'd take dogs and small children over strongbow bottles and taps aff any day! I noticed today that they have put up the flags on the pitch and putt course, hoorrayyy! Free entertainment! Well done Glasgow City Council for not giving up on us and putting a wee bit of effort in to keeping us fit! Ok so it's no Old Course but it would make good entertainment for an hour or so and I plan to give it a go! They also have tennis courts too, which I think you have to book and also plan to investigate. There's a farmers market on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month which offers yummy produce such as smoked kippers and fresh cheeses, which is enough to drag me out of bed anyway on a Saturday morning! And they have recently re-opened the Queen's Park Arena (an outdoor converted bandstand) so expect to see small concerts and performances there in the summer. Yay! I can't think of anything else I would want from a park, so 5 stars! Now, if summer would make an appearance (or even spring, spring would be fine!) we can all go enjoy :)

The staff are also on the wrong side of 18 working for pennies and are as enthusiastic as you would expect. You also have to go over 11,000 speedbumps to get there. On a warm day, there is also a 70% chance of being robbed. The indoor complex is decent, with good bowling, a pool hall and loads of arcade games. They also have a really good crazy golf. It's in Strathclyde Country Park which, on a good day, helps alot. Worth going to, but it's nothing worth taking your camera for.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to actually visit The Lighthouse, and I'm even more…read moreembarrassed to admit that I *still* haven't been up the top to look at the view over Glasgow! Next time, I promise! The Lighthouse is tucked down Mitchell Lane and has a wonderful gift shop on the ground floor. I am a certified museum-gift-shop addict and this one is nearly as good as the one at GOMA. At the moment, they're selling some great stuff to accompany the "Hello My Name is Paul Smith" exhibition and I couldn't resist getting a couple of the pencils, an eraser as well as a nice card from the range. There's a lot of nice Scottish stuff if you're looking for a gift so it's worth a browse even if you're not planning on going to an exhibition. We were there to see the Paul Smith exhibition which is on the first floor and ticketed at £6 per adult. While I think the price is a little steep, it's a fab exhibition which was really interesting, stimulating and thought-provoking - I think we were only there for half an hour or so, but really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be back sooner rather than later for a visit to the viewing platform so I'll update accordingly! But for now, I'm already a massive fan so I can't expect the rating to change for this lovely gallery.

It's a lovely hidden museum, with free entry, and has all your museum-y needs, from general Glasgow goodness to a lovely Mackintosh exhibition. There's a 6th floor viewing platform, but you can also go to the 3rd floor and climb to the top of the viewing tower - which gives you phenomenal views of all of Glasgow. It really is something you must see! There's a cafe, a bar and a gift shop all included, and I genuinely can't believe I hadn't discovered this sooner! Go see it if you haven't already!

From Greenock Cruise Terminal you only have to take 2 trains: Greenock to Glasgow Central, then transfer to train that goes to Pollokshaws West. Costs about 10 pounds (taxi costs 60). There is a nice, free museum there. Restrooms and cafe are very modern and super clean. There is a tram that takes you around the park, and even stops at the train station. Kids loved this park. Very open and not busy.
