I have been bringing my dog to Launderpet in Seal Beach for years. I like to support local business and they have always done a very nice job. BEWARE their normal groomer who was excellent has left. This is not the same place. We had no idea there was a new groomer when we brought him in otherwise we would have not asked for the "normal cut" . IN the past they have always cut his body short and left his belly and legs longer keeping with what you would expect for a Schnauzer. Today we picked him up and he had the worse cut we have every seen, his whole body has been shaved and his ears were not even trimmed. My children do not even recognize the dog and literally thought I brought the wrong dog home. When I called to discuss this the women working the front desk was extremely argumentative and told me it was all our fault. WE will never return!!!! You would expect after paying $160 and having been a patron of a business for years they would treat you like your business actually matters. In fact the lady at the front desk told me she could care less if we ever return. Well rest assured we wont!! read more

There was a time when the Seal Beach Launder Pet store was a very good local business. They provided everything you might need for your pet, customer service always appeared to be a key attribute and as loyal customers, we consistently felt appreciated and respected. Not any more - and we have been constant loyal customers for 8 years. We called to make sure they were open, and indeed... as usual at this time and on this day... they were. We then walked our pet down to the store (a long way) only to find a sign on the door which read, "Be Back Soon". It was 2:45 pm - maybe a bathroom break - completely understandable. So we waited 5 minutes and a person came to the door and unlocked it, which gave us the impression we were going to be able to venture inside. But no. The individual came out, locked the door behind them and stated they were going to lunch. And that was that. No indication as to how long this would be and no care for the point we relayed about walking a long way (after calling) to get there. Everything has changed. The pet food, toys, accessories... mostly gone. And seemingly the customer service and appreciation for loyal customers has gone too. And now, so have we. Yes... breaks are understandable if you have limited coverage, but if you're supposed to be open, at least communicate how long you will be gone and certainly respect your customers.... or you they will go elsewhere. read more

Orijen dog food (25 lbs) is $83.99 here and it's hard to find parking. Watch out for parking enforcement cars, as they seem to always be around. Staff are friendly. There is a frequent flyer card you can get if you buy food from them often. Ask them about it. (10/2/2019 5:10 pm - in response to comment from Eric H. owner) - I actually tried to park in the lot next to the alley way, but was told by the owner of the daycare next door to move my car, since there was only 1 handicap parking space available. There were 3 other cars parked in some "slot" at the time, 2 of which were parked tandem - one parked behind another. Not sure if those 3 cars belonged to customers or to employees. There are no clearly marked parking spots from what I could see at the time, so it'd be helpful to clearly delineate what parking spots (non handicap) are available for customers so we know it's free.) read more

I adopted an older rescued cat a few weeks ago. She had matted hair on her chest that the vet charged almost $40 to shave that spot. After she settled into her new home a bit I noticed a little dreadlock starting on her chest area. Though I've only recently heard of people giving cats a bath, I definitely was not raised by people that would respect me spending $ to have a cat professionally groomed! I just knew from seeing the matted hair she arrived with that I needed to have it taken care of & if a vet will charge $40 just to shave a small area I might as well pay for a full grooming. I searched "Cat Grooming near Huntington Beach" on the web, and called every place listed as "dog and cat grooming". Most of them responded they only groom dogs. One place that shall remain nameless literally laughed at me for wanting to stay somewhere in the shop so kitty wouldn't think I'd abandoned her (her lifelong owner from kitten hood passed away & the lady that agreed to take care of her dumped her at a dog shelter only saying it was "too much!" Didn't even tell them her name. Anyway, after I made an appt there I realized I wasn't comfortable leaving her alone with people that show no appreciation for the feelings of an animal - they definitely have feelings. Luckily a place I'd called and left a message at returned my call and recommended LaunderPet in Seal Beach. They were also kind enough to explain to me that having an owner present during grooming can add to the anxiety the animal experiences - which I get b/c of all the moms that have spoken of leaving kids at kindergarten the 1st day and how the child is inconsolable until the mom leaves (moms peep in the window & see their child is happy as a clam when they don't know she's there. But anyway, I digress. I just wanted to add this detail so nobody thinks I was able to be present during grooming at Launderpet. I didn't ask to, and the vibe was just good from them, both on the phone and in person so I trusted them with my pet. (End of edit) I have no idea why this shop didn't come up in my internet search, as it is less than 5 miles from my area near sunset beach - plus they have a total of 4 locations. I need to write this review for them though because they were awesome!!! The groomer was even able to brush the cats teeth! She felt soft as a bunny and smelled terrific after. No signs of distress. The groomers name started with a T, was unusual to me b/c I've never heard it before. I wish I could remember her name. Maybe saying she was there at 11:30 on a Sunday & has dark hair will help give credit where credit is due. Today I walked out of here for the last time. EVERY time I've gotten my dog groomed here the price is different. It's strange because my dog always gets the same cut. It's a shame because we've been bringing our dogs here for over 10 years. I'm not sure if the front desk girl that I've dealt with is an idiot or if for some stupid reason they charge me a different price every time because nobody knows wtf is going on. I'm sorry. I did not have a good experience with my dogs here. I had made an appointment for a tidy wash/trim a few weeks out. At the time the dogs were not too matted. When I took them in for their appointment they were more matted since I made the appointment. The girl at the front looked at them and said they should be fine. I went back to work and got a call from them saying they were too matted and I had to come pick them up without getting a wash/trim. The earliest they could get them in was 3 weeks later. When I brought them back I was charged $80 each, total of $160 for 2 small terrier mix dogs. I have never paid more than $60 a piece anywhere else. And I have to say that the girls working there were not friendly, barely looked at me, did not greet me when we walked in. And the way they took my dogs and gave them back to me was like they were a bag of groceries. Target drive up handles my orders with more care than they did with my dogs. I go specifically to have my Zoe groomed by Melissa. She is amazing at grooming golden doodles. A golden doodles coat needs a trained professional that knows how to handle that coat. Melissa knows exactly how to handle my Zoe. Most importantly she communicates with you regarding your pooch. She asks questions she answers questions she makes you feel that whatever if any the issue is with your grooming process, she will take care of it. I love that about Melissa!! Five-star service & down-home local friendliness!! Took Rascal down to LaunderPet on Main St in Seal Beach for a new harness. These guys are great, super helpful, and have a nice selection of quality products. Not the biggest selection but all quality. Glad to have Rascal back safely after he jumped out of a parked car & then wriggled out of his old harness, and then was rescued from the middle of Katella Ave in front of Polly's in Los Alamitos during rush hour last Thursday night!! Confident this new harness fits much more securely and will proove to be much more "escape-proof" than the last one!! Seems more comfortable and stylish, and gives him a little more visibility too. Brought my cat for her first hair grooming- she has had baths several times. I knew it would be difficult and also let groomer and staff know it would be, as it is for me at home. Originally wanted a lions mane cut but was hoping for anything to reduce the summer shedding. Staff was friendly but I could tell groomer was not excited about this task. I left my cat and was called not even 10 mins later to be told she could barely cut her under belly hair and could not do a lions mane and whether or not to bathe her? She did offer no charge if I picked her up then and there but I asked if she could at least bathe her then. I also asked the groomer to be honest and just tell me if I should just pick her up if it's all too much trouble. She said she would bathe her and I was called an hour later that she was ready. I picked her up, paid and tipped and went home. I pulled my cat out of the carrier and she still had wet legs, and I could see literally what appeared to be one stripe of shaving down the middle of her belly. Nothing else. So I basically paid $70 to have her claws trimmed and supposedly ears cleaned?-- because I don't really see any haircut or smell a bath. I could prob have fought my cat at home with my own shears and gotten more hair. Very disappointed as I am used to my dog groomer taking time to ease my dog in and just managing the behavior. Very disappointed. Update: 8/26/2020 Received a call from Giselle in afternoon and was offered a full refund or return for free (repeat) service (per Owners response) so changed to 3 stars from 2. Spoke with Giselle today and let her know that my expectations were communicated clearly from me so I was disappointed that nobody let me know exactly how poorly the outcome was before I left.
