It's a much larger dog area than most if not all other parks nearby. There are enclosed area for bigger dogs in a huge area and a good size area for the little ones. Dirt and natural grass. The park has convenient poop pickup bags in both big and small dog areas (but you have have to do a bit more walking in the big dog area). Shaded area with seats if you get tired. You can also leash up your pooch and go for a walk along with bay trail that is right next to the park. Cool wind sculptures on the top of the hill. Clean bathrooms and drinking fountains for both human and dogs in the parking lot by the enclosed dog park area. read more

We've gone to this dog park a handful of times before, and it's always well liked by my puppies. There's some giant telephone poles or beams with concrete cinderblocks around them and my dogs like to jump up and run across those while in the dog park area. There's also some overgrown Weeds onto one side of the field, so I'm sure there is bunnies or groundhog that live in there cause my dogs are always always sniffing around! Lol There is a small dog park and a little dog park along with a dog fountain and hose out in front. There's also a bathroom for women nearby. There's also a really nice trail and some cool art sculptures and interactive art pieces at the top of the hill if you walk all the way up. This particular day my dogs were tired and didn't want to walk all the way up so we just walked around the park for 30 minutes and got to play with dogs And then we left. read more

First time going there. Lots of space to walk with my dog and enjoy the beautiful views.

I went here for the first time over the weekend and it's a nice dog park, I didn't even know this trail/area existed because I never drove past the freeway entrance in San Mateo. The biggest thing as others have noted is that the address listed takes you to the wrong place! The dog park is actually on the other side of the road and you need to look out for the sign and the little hut where you turn into for the parking lot. The parking lot for the dog park was pretty crowded but theres another lot nearby too. There's two gated dog parks - one for small dogs and one for large dogs. There's not a ton of grass which is a downside, there's more dirt. But there's a good amount of dogs and the space for both of them was decent. This is really small but I find it weird there's poop bags inside the dog park but no trash can inside, you have to exit the dog park to toss it. That's pretty minor but just wanted to point it out. Bring hand sanitizer with you since you'll be touching the gates! Besides taking my small dog to the dog park I also saw the beautiful trails and walked him up to the top which had a very nice view of the water and the city. I'd come back to walk around the area and to enjoy the nice views for sure. Happy to have discovered this place. read more

Very large off-leash dog park close to the water in San Mateo. The park is separated into a big dog section and small dog section. Pros: - Plenty of parking - came on a Saturday afternoon and the crowd was pretty light. No issues finding parking. - Safe and quiet - the clientele here was very friendly and all the dogs were well-behaved. - Seats and shade - in the small dog section, there are benches with shade. Cons: - No grass - the ground is made up of dirt and sand, so be sure to bring your doggie wipes! - Horrible smell - I am not sure what the cause was but on our visit the entire area had a very nasty sewage smell. I wore my mask to try to block it out but it was still pretty prevalent. This alone made the overall experience unenjoyable. This is a great, well-kept park if it weren't for the unpleasant smell. I came around 4 pm and there were only a handful of dogs in the small dog section. I would imagine more people come after dinner in the evenings. read more

Lotsss of roaming room here. For the most part it's a lot of loose dirt in this strip of a dog park; but if I remember correctly there's some green by the towers that cut through the enclosed space. It's almost like a race track with the majority being the area for large dogs with a lot to explore. You might as well not even bother with the Small section unless your dog likes to stick close to you. My dog was pretty over it after we lapped the big trail beforehand but for anyone else's four-legged companion that gets excited around a lot of active bodies this'll be a blast. read more

Beautiful dog park! I would give it 5/5 stars but unfortunately it's a very dusty area with burrs which get stuck in dogs fur. It is a huge space for dogs to play. There are separate spaces for big and small dogs. The small dog spot didn't have too many dogs. While the big dogs space had so many fur-iends! A lot of the owners were playing "ball" with their dogs. Of course my dog kept stealing the balls from other dogs and running away. I'd recommend just using the "park balls" which are already there and free for anyone to use. There was plenty of parking nearby as well. Side note: there was a foul smell that kept passing through which didn't make it the most pleasant experience. read more

Massive dog park with lots of friendly doggos for my little girl Molly to play with. We go on weekends and usually see the same dogs. The dogs play friendly for the most part and the owners are pretty responsible. Of course the owners are usually pretty friendly to chat with, after all everyone goes for their dogs so everyone has something in common. Watching the dogs play is really entertaining. They also have a small dog area, but Molly prefers the bigger dogs (she's a beagle). On the weekend mornings this massive bear like malamute goes to sleep in the shade and he/she is so cute. People go up to pet him/her and all they want to do is sleep. They ignore the other dogs and just try to stay in the shade and sleep and the only time they move is when the sun moves haha!! So cute!! The dogs run around and it's large so they really can chase each other and get their energy out. Molly has too much energy so is a nightmare if she can't get exercise but after going to play at this dog park she's such a good tired girl. There's a large walking path right next to it along the coast and nearby is also bathrooms and a child play area, so the entire family can go. 10/10 recommend. read more

I'm horrified to see this dog park today covered in dog feces. Myself and everyone today were horrified by the conditions. It seems many people are letting big dogs run here on a regular basis and not cleaning up. It was EVERYWHERE- we couldn't walk anywhere! Such a shame people can't take care of their pets and ruin the park for others. read more

Great spot that has everything besides just a dog park. But to start off with the dog park it was nice! Smaller park for the little pups and a BIG and wide park for the big dogs. Fenced areas so no worries about your dog running out. Gets pretty hot during the afternoon since there's not much grass and just dry ground and rocks. A nice trail to walk as your dog ventures the whole ground and plenty of space to throw the ball as far as you can. We took our shiba and he was tired when he finished one round of walking and playing with other pups. If you plan to do other things beside the dog park there's a mini/hike up a hill that has some cool installments to check out and enjoy the breeze. Nearby theres a playground for the little ones and a bike/jogging trail for you active folks. read more

One of the larger, if not largest, dog parks in the San Mateo area. The park offers a large open space and a smaller fenced in section for the smaller canine friends. The human bathrooms are close by in case your dog's business influenced you in any way. Speaking of which, poop bags are freely available for picking up after your pets. At the entrance are water faucets and community drinking bowls for the thirsty pooches. Parking is right at the dog park's entrance. 8:30pm and the gate is locked to cars, so plan ahead. read more

My partner and I are visiting family from out of town and brought our pup with us for the trip. We usually take her to the dog park every day after work so we were excited to see her socialize in a new place. The Seal Point Park is a cool, large community space for pups of all ages and sizes. We went around 6 on a Sunday evening and there weren't too many dogs there (~5 in the large park and 1 in the small), but we had a good time talking to other dog owners and watching our dogs socialize. The locals we talked to there said it varies in use but at some points host up to 50 dogs at a time. There's definitely the space for it! The pet parents were respectful and attentive. The dogs initially overwhelmed our 7 month old puppy but she started to figure out and communicate her boundaries as she eventually came out of her shell with her new friends. By the end of our visit, she was playing chase with some older dogs and didn't want to leave. The space itself is all dirt/dust with some benches and dog poop bags and trash bins on the perimeter. There's a water fountain just outside the park for people and dogs. Overall a solid (very large) open space for dogs to play. read more

This is a really great off leash dog park~ 2 sides to separate the big and small dogs. It can get very windy and cold here~ the park Itself is pretty big with a beautiful water view at the top. An ice cream/snack truck comes by sometimes. I love that there are restrooms right by the dog park area. Small dog area~ Plenty doggie doo bags, and 1 trash can on the outside of the fence. A nice shade is over some benches. It's a pretty big space, so plenty of room to run around. Most of the time the people are pretty responsible with their dogs here, but I've seen/heard some questionable things, so make sure to always care for/watch out for your pet. I've always noticed people in the truck/s that are to help If needed. Sometimes they are parked behind the restrooms. There's a place for water, and to rinse off. The parking can get very full, but Ive always been able to find a spot. Some people park out on the main road and walk in~ there's a nice walking path around the park. read more

This is a pretty great dog park, and there are so few good ones in the area. It is so large! You can bring your chuck-it and your dog can run run run! It has enough grass that your dog doesn't have to play ball on the dirt (like almost all dog parks) and grind down their teeth (dirt + saliva = sandpaper on your dog's teeth). There is a water fountain for the dogs near the entrance; it's just a faucet so you don't have to bring your own bowl. The park is fairly clean, not a lot of poo. Even though this place can get packed with cars, the dog park is so big that you never feel crowded, you can always find a space to play fetch. Bigger dog parks are great because when they're too small (like certain ones in SF), the dogs tend to get in each other's way and fights break out. I've never witnessed an incident here because it's we have so much room to spread out! read more

This park is a great place to bring your dogs for an OFF-LEASH walk and play with other dogs. There's enough room to fit over a hundred dogs and more. The park splits up into 2 sections, a small one for little dogs and a large one for everyone else. As I write this review, I think of my friend Bootz. I used to bring him here all the time with his sister to walk the park, smell other dogs and just to be free. Just to think of him sitting by the fence smiling and taking in the air. Love this dog park! I used to take my pup out to a dog park every week when I lived in the south bay, and it was a relatively small and cramped space, so I was super happy to see how spacious this dog park is. There's an area for smaller dogs and an area for larger dogs. The park for the larger dogs is HUGE! It's so big that you can quickly diffuse any tricky situations that could arise if two dogs don't get along well. I had a lot of fun exploring the park and watching my dog run around with the other dogs there. Will definitely bring her more often. read more

We've been coming to this dog park now ever since we rescued and adopted Jackson Louie back in 2012. It's now 2016, and we continue to enjoy coming here. We also have a resident dog "Nathan" (fostering) who may actually, be staying with us permanently since no one wants to adopt him (cute little booger). But If you live nearby or visiting the area, and are looking for a space to exercise your dog, we'd like to share some fun facts why Seal Point Dog park might work out for you... Pros- 1. - Huge fenced dog park (off leash) both separated for small to medium - large to extra large dogs. 2. - Clean and I think they must have a poop patrol on duty daily. Everyone here too is pretty good at picking up after their pooches. There are also designated areas where they provide a biodegradable poop bags! Quite convenient. 3. - Dogs and Humans are very well socialize, meaning both dogs and humans co-mingle well with each other. I've only witnessed one time where two dog owners didn't get along, but I think it was more an ego thing. 4. - Water, there is a designated area located at the entrance for water for your pooches. There is a water fountain for dogs and for the humans too!! Several water bowls are usually available and kept clean. 5. - There are concrete post throughout the big dog area and a couple of benches with a trellis shade for you humans to rest while your dogs are at play. 6 - Parking is always plenty, and if the lot area next to the dog park is full, there is also a bigger lot on the other side, not too far away. Cons- 1 - There are no grass other than the edges near the fence. If this is a deal breaker, I recommend walking your dog on a leash around Seal Point Park which is just outside the dog area. There are hills and grass area around the mountain (though during summer months with the drought, they get brown). 2 - On a hot day, there is no shade. There is one trellis in the middle of the big dog area, but it can still get scorching hot during summer months. Overall, if you're looking for a solid dog park where you can run your dog off leash with a huge space and play fetch, I highly suggest you give Seal Point Dog Park a visit! *Note* This is a review I did back in 10/2008 but like a dumbass posted it and the photos to the wrong establishment, called out by another Yelper. So thanks for the heads up! I'm all for dog parks. I don't care if they are concrete, dirt, grass, fake turf, seaweed, rocky, iced, sandy.....as long as the material is walkable, let's have a hurray for towns that are able to provide public access for people and their furry friends. We have access to trails. Let the dogs have access to a park all their own. I had an interview in the area and of course did not get the job (it was a conspiracy among Asians : basically if you are younger, cuter, and thinner than the hiring group of chubby 40 something pushing 50 ugly people, you will never ever get the job) but on a follow-up where I drove all the way up to the darn place to drop off thank you cards, I decided to stop and let my pooch out for a quick romp. Now, usually I take her to Pt. Isabel where a wide area is well maintained with nice grass; Foster City Dog Park is actually all dirt/gravel with only fake grass mats for the smaller dogs in their fenced in area. I was not in there but could only imagine what it must smell like. I was lucky in that my pooch gets along with all dogs, small or large, so I set her loose. The walking area is actually paved for the human owners so we could keep an eye on our furry little rascals. I noticed most people picked up after their dogs otherwise incur the wrath of responsibles such as myself. The area is located underneath massive power lines so if anything fell, we would have all been dead within seconds. However, I was in love with the little fire hydrants lined up for the urine cycle and the rest area was well covered with an overhang. The people here with their dogs were friendly and made conversations as our dogs hung out and did the customary rear salutations. Once outside the security gates, there is a clean concrete area with water faucets for the dogs as well as their humans. There is also a nice path running parallel to the dog park where I saw several cute guys jogging by on their lunch breaks. I can see that the city does a great job in keeping this well maintained as well as clean and efficient. Of course on a hot day the smells might become overwhelming, but such are the hazards of being humans to our furry friends who don't have access to their own type of toilets. I'm impressed with Foster City. Great public location for locals to utilize and thanks to the city for adding a little part of land for our furry friends! read more

The entrance can be easy to miss and then you have to drive down several blocks before you can turn around, so keep a look out for it. Seal Point Dog Park RULES!!! It was my first time ever at a dog park and I had such a great time with my pomeranian Tater Tot. I was sorta nervous because Tater has never been to a dog park and I was afraid he might not get along with all the dogs, but he absolutely loved it and made tons and tons of new friends. Don't be nervous to bring your pup to Seal Point! Sometimes Tater can be feisty on walks, but being off-leash in the small dog area was no problem. He occasionally wandered over to the gate between the small dog area and the big dog section and barked at the bigger doggies (Tater's a little dude and barking makes him feel more manly) but other than that he was cool as a cucumber. PLUS you get to meet and mingle with other dog lovers...and let's be honest, dog people are the best kind of people. I can't wait to start coming to Seal Point regularly for Tater to play! read more

It is huge compared to every other I've visited.There is a path that winds around the entire park so you can walk while your dog plays, rather than just stand around in one spot. The dog park is located right next to the bay, and there a number of trails and walkways that you can take your dog onto which are right outside of the enclosed park area. It's a really pretty walk and everyone around is very dog friendly. The only reason I am not giving the park 5 stars is because of the many people who do not pick up their dogs poop. I've seen people watch their dogs go, and then turn around and pretend not to notice so they don't have to pick it up. The dog park even supplies pooper bags! Its really gross, who wants their dogs running through old or new dog poop while they play? There are some regulars who I've seen who come with huge plastic bags and walk around cleaning up after neglected poops. Thanks to them the park remains somewhat sanitary! read more

Went once on a Saturday in May. The three stars is because I was not thrilled with the fence. The fence is the kind I had during college in my own yard and was all I could afford. Its the kind that is metal rectangles where metal grids can come undone and stick out -- eek -- into a dogs eye. Due to the weeds could not see if there were holes or pieces sticking out. It also had gaps at the bottom which is bad for the tiny dogs. I expect at least a cyclone fence (or better) from a city/county dog park. For what its worth, as of this review, I have been to 31 dog parks so I am accustomed to what is the norm at dog parks. The skinny...... Seal Point Dog Park is located in a "Powerline Park" (see photos). You know the tall power lines that stretch for miles? It is a good use of open land that is not suitable for housing. The dog park has a small dog section and an all dog section. Double-gates. Super easy to get to off the highway. Good parking. Fresh water -- but you have to go out of the park to refresh the water. It has shade structures with benches, trash cans, restrooms....everything you need. Maybe it was the day I was there and did not get the best first impression, or could not see well in the glare, or that I had to run from end to end to keep up with my dog who was new to that park, a puppy, and looking at *everything*. There is also two sets of gates in the small dog section to watch. I never like having to watch my dog so he does not get stolen out of two sets of gates. Some people could not figure out to come in the first gate and shut it before opening the second gate. Of course, they also had their closest 12 relatives with them in tow (that is when all hell breaks loose because grandma leaves the gate wide open). Amazing that I have to explain what seems obvious: SHUT the first gate and THEN open the second gate. That is ONE reason the double gates are there....no escapes. The other reason is for unleashing BEFORE you get into an off-leash area. Am I picky? Sure. Should I be? Hell yes. We go to dog park *everyday*. Our chances of injury are higher - and well, its just not that hard to read the rules and follow them. Some things are not so obvious (ie: leash aggression in an off-leash dog park) so TALK to people....get to know how to be at dog park. Most people are more than happy to explain what they know. I can see why people like it. I like what it looks like.....and its right off the freeway. I think if I had a bigger dog maybe I would have liked it better (mine is 15 lbs.). We bailed early and went over to the Central Park Fremont Dog Park instead. Had an AWESOME, wicked good time......as always. read more

Seal Point Dog Park is the best dog park on the Peninsula because it's enclosed, there's a separate play area for big and little dogs and there's real grass. The best time to go is in the afternoon around 4pm (M-F). If you go any earlier, Fido may or may not have any four-legged friends to play with. Weekends when the weather is nice are always crowded with lots of dogs, which makes for lots of fun. Make sure to bring a sweater for your small dog, because in the late afternoon, it can be windy and cold. If you want to take your dog for a walk outside of the enclosed play areas, there's a nice trail along the bay (one goes toward Foster City and the other goes to Coyote Point), as well as one that goes up from the parking lot to a high plateau where you can hear the air traffic control directing incoming planes to SFO. read more

My favorite place to take my doggie for some social time. We moved farther away from it but I still make the drive out here. Pros: Huge space! Including for the small dog side. Lots of room to run!! Big dog area is huge. Adjoining park is beautiful, one of my favorite places to run and get a view of the bay. Huge parking lot. Plenty of bathrooms for the humans (hey, we all gotta pee too) Covered sitting areas for the people -- you'll appreciate this during the heat waves. Right off the 101 highway. No fuss no mess with tons of local traffic (might as well just walk the dog around the block then!) Cons: All sand / dirt ground. No grass :( Doggie comes home quite dusty. However, left behind doo-doos are very visible... no accidental step-in!! :) Windy as hell -- if it's moderately windy outside, it is VERY windy here. I remember this running on this stretch of the Bay Trail as well -- it IS on the water. Bring a coat and hat if it's just a little windy in your neighborhood. Noticed that the trails around the park (not in the dog park itself) have been lined with a LOT of foxtails as of late -- please take caution if your doggie enjoys tall grasses, mine always wants to romp in the grass alongside the trails and this is worrisome. read more

The views are great here but I think at times I'd prefer artificial turf over dirt. Maybe I caught an off day but I was a bit taken back by what I saw at this park. Piles of dog poop just sitting there and owners nonchalantly NOT watching their dogs poop and walking away. Owners to me at least seem more responsible at the Foster City park because I see rarely see piles of dog poop there. Owners do also watch out for their dogs a bit more as well. The fountain is cool since you can operate the lower ones with your foot. No read need to bring a bowl if the dog can drink straight from the fountain. May return one day. read more
