Love this dog park. Park is pretty clean and has fake turf which my dog loves to run on. Only issue is dog walkers always come here and have 5+ dogs which is against the rules of three per person. Otherwise nice park! read more

I'm sorry Brisbane but here's the truth! We are not picky people but...This was the smallest & crappiest dog park we've ever been to. This is NOT a dog park. There's pot holes everywhere, big rocks, uneven ground, small netting to trip my dog and for a bonus...A big Fat Rat that ran away when my dog got near it!!! EEEEKKKK!!! Photos on Yelp are old pics. This is a pretty well maintained park thanks to the many volunteers that come to share in the upkeep. I try to take my little guy here once in a while, but he seems lost on the concept of being able to run around here - always staying within close range of me, except when he feels it is time to go then he makes a mad dash to the gate without me, expecting me to catch up and let him loose. Big sigh! Maybe one day he'll understand this is a cool place to let out his inner energy. read more

A medium-sized dog park with nothing but sand. It sort of feels like the City of Brisbane didn't know what to do with this sand lot and decided on a whim to make it into a dog park. Updated 6/28/09 A few months ago the town newsletter featured an article about the dog park. Interesting how most of the comments were about how owner friendly it is (i.e. how it is such a great place for people to socialize and ignore their dogs). Sigh. I took the dog I was dogsitting here (he's bigger, so unlike taking my small dog, I didn't have to worry about him being run over/eaten) and there were no other dogs at the park, only a few people sitting together at the picnic table. The dog ran up to them and a woman freaked out, exclaiming she was afraid of dogs. Why, dear reader, she was sitting INSIDE the gated dog park, is beyond me. Really. I hate this dog park. * When I first moved to Brisbane, I was ecstatic to discover that not only does the town have a dog park, it is the cutest dog park ever. Lush green grass, a kiddie pool for hot days, a fire hydrant for male dogs, a leash rack, a well stocked supply pick up bags, easy parking, clean water supply, a picnic table and benches for humans...fabulous, right? If only a good dog park made for good dog owners. Unfortunately, I have had some of the worst encounters with dog owners here (and I've been at Ft. Funston during the daytime dog walker melee, Dolores Park on a sunny Sunday when people who never walk their unsocialized dogs decide it would be cool to take them out for a spin, etc.). The biggest problem with the park is that it is too small for both big and small dogs to play safely. What compounds the problem is the aforementioned picnic table for humans, and the fact that Brisbane is a small town so hanging out at the dog park is really just another place to hang out (well, all dog parks are like this). Which I am ALL FOR! However, you have to WATCH YOUR DOG. (The rant below really applies to all dog parks and all dog owners, but I am reacting to several run ins at the Brisbane dog park). And by watch I don't mean sort of notice after the fact that your dog may actually be aggressive. And don't say "oh haha, she's never seen a ____ dog before." Listen, people, my dog is not your dog's bitch, and I expect you to be participatory in fulfilling your end of that deal, meaning you need to watch your dog at the dog park. Your dog biting my dog is not OK, ever, I don't care if she's "just a puppy" at 11 months old and if you are going to "alpha roll" her after the fact to show her who is the boss. Good dog owners manage their dog's behavior before things happen, which means they need to be paying attention to their dog in the dog park. The City of Brisbane did a great thing by building the park, but no city can manage the people that use its facilities. In lieu of that, it would be wonderful if they'd look into creating a separate area for smaller/mellower dogs. Or maybe a separate area for irresponsible dog owners. read more

I agree with Jennifer. It is a very cute park, but not everyone pays attention to their dogs, because their busy talking to each other. It's like a high school. There are bullies, nice people, and some serious trouble makers. I've been going there for almost two years and no problems. Then one of my dogs was barking very loud at another dog and these two people called the police on me! OMG! Just like that! My dog was not attacking or biting...nothing, just barking. I thought, "These people are crazy! Its a dog park, that's what dogs do"! When the police showed up, I spoke to the two nice police officers and they said some people who go there, think they own the park and they WILL bully people out, even if it means lying about your dog's behavior!! If your not from Brisbane, just beware. The officers told me tthey do not take their own dogs there, for the same reason. Politics and drama at the dog park...how ridiculous is that!! Just because some people still think its still high school and start drama with their "clicks". The two regulars that go there are NOT mentally stable and do cause serious problems. I'm really disappointed, because my sweet dogs love this park and so do I. It's really sad when some adults act like rude wild animals. I think I will take the cops advice and find another dog park. This review was written by my dog: My Mommie and I had such great hopes for this park. The pros were: 1. Within walking distance of our home; 2. Real grass; 3. Fenced in area; and 4. Great people seating and areas. The cons quickly won out: 1. Very muddy autumn thru spring; 2. Many careless owners with big agfressive, dogs; 3. No little doggy area, leaving me trampled as a 5 lb puppy; 3. BIG aggressive dogs all the time; and 4. Little dogs get trampled on. We don't go anymore, but we tried when we lived in Brisbane. Absolutely no one was there during a weekday, I think it was a Wednesday, but when we walked home, all the nice dog owners were in the main park, playing with their dogs there because of the bad behavior of other owners and dogs at the park. Why are reviews so focused on the people? Who cares about the people. I am certainly not there to socialize but to get my dog to exercise and run as much as possible so she doesn't dog holes in the backyard because of excess energy. If another dog attacks my dog, I'll pull that dog off because I am watching. Humping is not attacking. Humping (as my vet friend says) is sometimes just plain fun for dogs. I actually hoped to get to know my neighbors and the town a little better, but oh well. It's their loss if they don't want to be inclusive and friendly. We've just moved into Brisbane and was relieved that there even was a dog park in town. It has adequate parking and double entry gates like most parks. There are lots of plants to sniff and doggie poo mits readily available. It is long and narrow compared to a lot of places, but the dogs don't seem to mind. There is seating and potted plants around that the neighborhood seems to maintain. There is even a bonus leash holder near the gate. (Nobody seems to use it though) A HUGE PLUS : Lights for when its dark! It makes all the difference sometimes. You can still watch your dog without having to squint! I also like that it is not near homes so you are not worried about nasty neighbors who hate the park. A STAR DOCKED: People bring their kids. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. Good that my dog gets to socialize with kids, bad that kids make BIG deals out of little things dogs do. Don't bring your kid if they don't like to be smelled, licked, touched, chased, rubbed against etc. And definitely don't bring your kid if they like to pull tails, hit, or scare my dog. There are plenty of parks for children, not enough for dogs. Keep them separate! read more

Best kept secret! ALL grass, landscaped with flowers, patio with lounge chairs! Kudos to the residents who volunteer to garden this weekly. There's a lot of pride here. Don't let your dog dig!!! Tricky to find... it's behind the Brisbane Police Building. You can park on the street or in the 6 or so parking spaces allocated to the dog park inside the police parking lot. PERKS....Brisbane is always sunny!! They have a paved walking trail that starts across the street from the park. Never, ever crowded. Hardly used during the day. read more

This place is my go-to park for the doggies. I'm always in Brisbane for one thing or another, so I end up here pretty often. The community has really taken pride in this park and it really shows. It's big enough that the dogs can get tired from running, but small enough that you won't lose sight of your pooch. It's a great park with a great group of people and dogs and it almost has a feeling of the "pack playground" since everyone (dog and human) pretty much knows everyone. The grass is kept up well and the improvements back in June really make the park that much more beautiful. The best part is that sine this is really a community park, everyone is usually really good about picking up after the dogs. People even sometimes pick up what others didn't. I have visited a couple dog parks in the San Francisco area and this is by far the best park if your looking for something that looks more like a park then a fenced in dirt lot for your dog to be able to run in. This park is well taken care of and full of GREEN grass. The area is not very wide but very long and perfect for throwing a ball if your log likes to fetch. Its nice that a lot of the people are regulars and you get to know the dogs and their owners pretty fast if you go there often like I do. Lots of areas for people to be able to sit and well lite if your going late in the evening. Parking is in the lot right next to the police department so always feels safe no matter what time of the day you are there. read more

i agree with the positive reviews, although there was several poops that were not picked up. This is such a shame, a community dog park that someone is maintaining well, and as usual, there are always dog owners that won't take responsibiltiy for thier pet waste. (please leave your address so my dog can poop in your yard). I think its nice to have a birdfeeder, but the feeder should be pigeon proof-who wants ginormous flocks of rats on wings? read more

Took my dog to this park over the weekend and it's a pretty decent sized park. There are lots of running space and seating areas for owners to hang out while their fur babies are making friends. However, the grounds are super uneven and there are patches of grass missing all over the park. I think it could be in a bit more better shape than it currently is. I did noticed there are spot of muddy area towards one of the entrance. Upside is this park is open 24/7 year round. Seems like a good number of people bring their dogs here so I will be back during the months when our usual dog park isn't open. read more

The best part of this dog park, thats nestled in the little industrial town of Brisbane, is that it never closes. With half the park lighted, you can bring your dog there after sunset and still be able to get your dog some exercise until he tires out. Its not the biggest dog park around, but its much bigger than Commodore Park in San Bruno. The park is owner friendly with plenty of park benches and lawn chairs to sit in. Its right by the Brisbane Police station so you can feel nice and safe at anytime. Bring your dog there and look for the yellow lab named Baron! read more

Made a quick jaunt over here late Saturday morning while my wife ran a race at Candlestick. It's a loooong but narrow (~20ft) plot behind city hall. There's a bunch of nice padded outdoor furniture and nice personal touches. You can tell people care about this park and take care of it. I chilled out in a comfy chair while the boys explored and ran around. It was pretty empty for the hour I spent there. A couple owners showed up for a brief visit with their dogs. Most of the time, I was there just with my dogs. It was quiet and pleasant although I could see it getting crowded very quickly if more than 10 dogs are there. read more

Went there early this morning to check it out. It's narrow and between industrial buildings with the humming of roof fans in the air. The grass was rather sparse and it was kind of muddy. It is well maintained, though I picked up some other dogs poop along the foot path. I must say there is a large nice area for humans, with tables and padded chairs. The largest people play area I've seen at a dog park. BTW: My friend and her dog were bitten there a week ago. By a "Friendly" pair of Pit bulls. (Beware of "Friendly Pit Bulls"). IMO: Leave this dog park for the regulars, they will appreciate this and u will too. read more

Nice quiet park for my dogs. Was not very crowded and it had plenty of room for my dogs to run around and stretch their legs.

I have read all the reviews regarding the Brisbane Dog Park and think the following: 1.For a city run place it is kept up as nice as possible. 2. Sure there is a lot of dog poop around on the ground but that falls on the owners who DO NOT socialize but rather have their phone or other mobile device implanted into their face and let their dog(s) run rampant and DO NOT watch their dogs. 3. Bird feeder-Really? Rats with wings? Is that the best a reviewer could say or complain about? Really? 4. Kids, yeah this can go either way but again falls on how well the adult/parent explains how dogs are and see #2. 5. Yes, the park is small and I have seen both big and small dogs play and get along TOGETHER. Perhaps if one has a little yappy dog there is a small but nice area of grass before the entrance of the park maybe use that or this is just a suggestion work and train your yappy little dog to stop yapping. 6. Dogs are pack animals so that goes with out saying that in numbers they will pack at times so again people WATCH your dog. 7. This park is as nice as it is because of volunteers who buy things for the dog park with their own money. So keeping that in mind, WOW this is a nice park and one that I love to go to because obviously the people here care enough about the park to think of it and buy or donate stuff for this park and give it the time of day to make it as nice as it is, My own experience is that most of the people who come here are very nice and those who don't want to be bothered well why do you have a dog anyways? Get a pet fish or something? And as as for the poop I pick up my own dogs as well as others, wow that's a novel idea. I'm not perfect so I try to pay it forward when I can and for those owners who just let their dog go anywhere with out picking it up again, why don't you just get a pet fish? I have meet the people who donate their hard earned time and money to help make this park what it is and I have seemed to recall a cleanup day at least once for the past couple of years. I was there helping out where were you? I might not be as well versed in dog parks in the SF area but have been to a few and I can honestly say that this is the BEST park I have been to, out side of Fort Funston. The only reason I can compare this park to Fort Funston is that the Fort is right there next to the ocean so you can't beat the view, but letting them off leash there you can't really admire the view for fear of your pup going over the cliffs in certain spots. So for me this little park is the winner because of the fact that you can let them run around and be free while not fearing of any cliffs. Not to mention all the other dogs and owners with bigger problems and issues than those found at this little park. So in all the reviews from others are really positive and for the negative reviews well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I can't help but hear that old saying that excuses are like...and everyone has one. Not to mention that some people aren't happy unless they complain about the price of tea in China...so to those I just keep to myself in hopes that they don't invite themselves over to me since my parents told me to stay away from crazy and if you don't have any thing good to say why say it? read more

Beautiful friendly little park well maintained by warm hearted local people. The neighborhood feels safe and the park is decently lit at night. Fully fenced in park. There are two entrances to the park and the both entrances are equipped with a double gate and water supplies. This park used to be even better up until these greyhound people started showing up. They come to the park around noonish or bit earlier sometimes. They are usually with 5 or 6 people with about a half dozen of rescued greyhounds. They always stand in the middle of the park chatting, and they don't let their dogs play with other dogs. Some dogs are even kept on leash whole time despite this park is an off-leash dog park. If your dogs try to engage play with any of their dogs, they push your dogs away, even yell at your dogs and tell you that your dogs are aggressive (which is totally BS) and unwelcome. Their dogs are beyond under socialized (as being race dogs in the past I guess) and can easily be provoked and attack your dogs if your dogs try to play with them or even just approach them to greet. Their dogs are problematic, but what's worse is that the owners are ignorant, treat you as if your dogs are the bad ones, and act like they own the park. I have to say a couple of these greyhound people actually seems decent and reasonable people. I understand that this is their way to rehabilitate their retired race dogs. My dog is also a rescued dog, so I can relate to that. If they were nice and friendly, I would fully support them and would even offer them to take advantage of my dog (very friendly and playful) as a part of their socializing efforts. But especially this old gray haired fat lady with black and white greyhounds, there is something drastically wrong with her. She is way way over protective of her dogs, she has no idea what she is doing when it comes to socializing dogs, she is mean to other non-greyhound people's dogs, and above all she is incredibly offensive and rude to the rest of us. She is an ill hearted two faced b**ch. Stay away from her, or she will ruin your day. I hear people talking about these greyhound people not a good thing about them. People who come to the park are quite annoyed by the greyhound people and want them to stop coming to the park. I'm not making this up nor even exaggerating. Pretty much every regular people to whom I talked, they are exasparated by the greyhound people and wonder why these greyhound people even come to this off-leash dog park when they don't allow their dogs to play and treat the rest of the dogs as bad ones. So I know it is just not me who is so frustrated about the greyhound people. I see some people come to the park, notice the greyhound people, and then decide to leave the park without even coming in. Yes, these greyhound people are that bad. They make us want to avoid them. Sadly they don't even have a clue that they are the one unwelcome there. My dog and I made several friends here. But I've rarely seen them here since the greyhound people started showing up. Very sad :( read more

I love the Brisbane Dog park! Not only is it one of the few dog parks that has actual grass but it is a community park. The people who go there on a regular basis clean up, water the flowers (yes! It has an actual garden!) repair broken items, and donate all kinds of nice things like lawn chairs, seats, sun umbrellas and more! People pick up regularly after their dogs and help you out if you missed that fact that your dog made a lawn deposit. Everyone helps everyone out in watching the dogs and making sure the peace is kept and the lawn isn't eaten. I don't understand what Jen V and Jennifer W are talking about. Yes, there are people who go there all the time but that's why it's called a community dog park! If you don't want to be part of a community stay indoors isolated, just you and your dog. I haven't seen any one dog bully any other since I've been going there (it's been a year now) and any time a dog has started to play a little rough with mine all I've had to do is ask the owner to call of their dog and to give mine a break. It's your responsibility too to make sure you can speak up if you don't like what another dog is doing. I've never had the dog park click ever get upset with me when I've asked them to call their dog off. In short, great park, people who are helpful and watchful over their dogs. Don't pay much attention to Jen V, she seems to have had problems with her dog at another place (read her reviews) and Jennifer W seems to not like to give positive reviews unless it's a super yupptified place and the Brisbane Dog park is just a normal dog park. read more

It is big, no cement all grass and usually after people get off work it gets pretty busy which is good for my dog because he needs to run.

This dog park is too small and not much for me and my dog to do there. My little terrier is known to be a brat and bark really loud at dogs and I've been working really hard training him. It's a terrier instinct to bark at big dogs and get themselves into trouble. And I regret not knowing what I was getting into when I adopted him. However, he is a very loving dog, just very skittish. He's been a whole lot better now. This was over a year ago. The main reason why its 1 star is because a guy had shouted at me and threatened me to leave. He pointed his dirty fingers at me and said my dog was too aggressive. He made me break down into tears because it hurted.. alot... to hear those words... Who wants to hear those words. I balled into tears and shouted back at him because of how hurt I was. I told him that at least I didn't shove him back into the shelter like some people and I don't abuse him. He apologized after he saw me crying, but it just hurt so much. So ever since, I shunned going there or even going to any dog parks. The only park I never been shouted at is Orange Park, Fort Funston, and Golden Gate Park. People have been very kind to me, but there were specific people who would shout at me and tell me what to do like they know how to train dogs... It's took me a long time to get him to a calm down and he still has his moments where he barks really loud. So yea this is my story with this park. =/ read more

The Brisbane dog park is a great secret. Parking is easy, and the park is rarely crowded - in fact, more often than not, my dogs and I have the whole place to ourselves when we visit. There must be a terrific team of landscaping volunteers who keep up the border gardens and feed the birds. My dogs love the place. So why just 4 stars? Every time I visit, I pick up 4-6 messes left behind by the owners of other dogs. Every single time. Perhaps the fact that there are so few people using the park reduces "peer pressure" to pick up after their dogs, but this attitude mystifies me: surely those people don't want to walk in OTHER dogs' poop anymore than I want to walk in theirs? Be sure to watch your step. And a word of warning: there are two gates at each end of the park - which is great! - but sometimes both gates at the east end are propped open. Not great! Check both ends if you're there alone. I tossed a few balls for my younger dog, glanced back to keep tabs on my slower-moving elder, and found him wandering out the east gate into the police department parking lot! read more
