I did the London Eye and Sealife on the same day, as they are geographically close to each other. - If you like penguins, sharks, stingrays, and jellyfish, this aquarium is for you. I got a city pass and had a handful of tourist attractions to visit while in London. I did the London Eye and Sealife together in this order. I highly recommend coupling them for a day. The former give you a nice view of the city. The latter is a cool aquarium that I enjoyed visiting. I love penguins. I enjoyed seeing the gentoo penguins swim and waddle around. I probably spent a good chunk of my time here. I also liked the shark exhibit. Seeing sharks swim around a shipwreck was neat. The jellyfish exhibit was also amazing. It's the UK's largest jellyfish experience. I enjoyed watching them float around. Oh, the seahorses were fun. I saw the suck up shrimps with their snouts, which was different. I normally see them swimming around. I spent a lot of time at the gift shop. I ended up getting a keychain and a small penguin plushie. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and to my surprise, it was not overly crowded. There was not even a line to enter. Every time I thought I was at "the end" of the aquarium, there was another room depicting a different region of the world. The variety of animal and aquatic life, as well as educational signage, was incredible. This aquarium is home to the UK's largest living coral reef! There were so many times I spent countless moments watching fish, sharks, turtles, jelly fish, sea horses, etc. I read you can get through the aquarium in 90 minutes - maybe if you don't stop to look at anything! I spent about 3 hours looking at the exhibits. I was just a tad saddened that I couldn't see the penguins. They regulate their space based upon their native Antarctic environment; so, even thought it was 3:30pm, the exhibit was completely dark and the penguins were sleeping. However, the fact they care about their animals to the point they are conscientious of mimicking their natural environment was a huge gold star in my book. I have never seen so many clown fish and sea anemones, sea horses, or jellyfish in one place. Just amazing!! Overall, Sea Life exceeded my expectations and I definitely recommend to fans of aquatic animals :) Fun for adults and families alike! It's a cute rainy day adventure. The VR adventure isn't worth the hype. The penguins and jellyfish were the highlight for me. I still think California Academy of Science and Monterrey Bay Aquarium in the Bay Area (U.S.) are tops, but Sealife is a good kiddo activity if you're in London. read more

What a wonderful aquarium! One of the largest and best ones I have ever been to. I have been the last two times that I visited the UK. They have a wide variety of animals, many of whom I had not seen elsewhere. My only problem was that some of the tanks felt too restrictive or monotonous, for example the guitarfish. The tank was large, but basically just a concrete structure, and did not seem particularly enriching. However, animals like the penguins and the seahorses get adequate enclosures. Probably the most expensive activity we did in London, but it was worth it. The kids had a great time. There was a lot of interesting marine life, and the habitats seemed well-maintained. Adult tourists might not necessarily stop here, but if you have kids, I would highly recommend Sea Life. read more

Now first of all we came to venue the main entrance had two lots of stairs with no ramp or lift for customers in a wheelchair. No for me seeing a member of my family struggle ain't nice. There was also visible sign telling us how to get access but not always easy to see, if you have sight problem. Now the entrance on Westminster bridge road has so many stairs and not any accessible entrance either a lift or a ramp. Now there is more than enough space but not a effort has been made, and it's not correct that a disabled person going to sea life has to walk a extra 7 times the distance. Now there is a lift near jubilee walkway but there is also stairs, so both sides need accessibility. Now also onto the unlimited digital photo pass. When I spoke with your online team as I couldn't get anybody on the phone I was told there is many stages we can ask for photos. So then we paid the £10 on top of the £48 for tickets. There is 3 pics at the start and that it. I question it but nobody can explain how a unlimited digital photo pass is £10 is 3 photos. read more

I made a visit to Sealife London to escape the rainy, cold weather on a January afternoon. It was a nice way to spend a few hours, but wow, did I pay for the privilege! Tickets are quite pricey (about £50 for two of us) and I don't think it's worth the admission if you aren't going with kids. Overall, the aquarium is really well designed. The theming is relatively immersive from the paint and wall hangings to the almost theatrical lighting. There are lots of viewing points to see the animals and I appreciated the frequent educational messaging throughout the experience. This place is very kid friendly. There are lots of bathrooms throughout the building and many places to stop and sit to watch the animals or to grab a snack. There were lots of children enjoying the aquarium while I was there. Unfortunately, that also means the place got quite crowded and loud with strollers and lots of small children running around unsupervised. I would have preferred to visit during on of their adults only late night events. I don't think I would visit a Sealife aquarium again. It is clearly geared towards children and the cost of admission was way to steep in my opinion. read more

It was a really nice aquarium, that exceeded my expectations. I just didn't know what to expect given the location, so I expected something small. But their utlization of space and design and attractions were very impressive. I measure all aquariums to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in CA. This one was the next best one I have experienced. We had just visited the SEATTLE aquarium a couple of weeks earlier, which was very nice but I felt did not utilize the space very well. Wow! By far the best aquarium I've ever been to!!!! This place was huge! My husband and I have made it a tradition that where ever we travel to we go to a aquarium, so I've seen many. Anyways this one has many tanks to see and is very well maintained. Let me do a quick break down. The atmosphere is great! They keep everything super clean and there's zero fishy smell. Also you can tell all fish are extremely happy and healthy! The bathrooms were well kept, and all exhibits nice and clean too. What to expect. As soon as you walk in there a line off to the left to purchase tickets. You will also have the option to add the private tour for 8£ more. I'll get to that in a bit. After tickets are purchased you will have to walk through a security point, where your bags with be checked and a little metal detector ran around your body. Not a big deal btw. Once you gotten past that point there's a line for a photo session. I would opted for this if I were you cause it's a cute little sovereign at the end. You don't have to purchase the printed option either a emailed ones free. After this point you'll go down a elevator for the main attraction! The main attraction! As you walk down a hall into the aquarium you'll be amazed! Or at least I was. The floor is see through and sharks are swimming around under you! I found this to be super cool, I've never seen anything like it. I will leave some detail out cause I don't want to ruin your experience but there's a huge amount of tanks to look at ranging from all different forms of sea life. For sure thee most amount of tanks I've ever seen in a aquarium, this place is ginormous! On to the private tour! The tour last about 30 minutes, and although our guide was amazing and had a wonderful personality, I felt like it lacked in information a tad bit. Also we were only shown two rooms so that was a huge let down. I wish they would have done more on the fish front. I thought we'd be able to see a feeding or something more exclusive. Back in the days when I was trying to woo my boyfriend into being my boyfriend I was set on coming up with an exciting first date. The Aquarium seemed like a really good idea, it wasn't, do not go here! After paying nearly £20 to get in we began our tour. We passed many a goldfish, many a bigger goldfish, some guppies, sure we would soon reach the sharks we had been promised and the magnificent reef instillation's we kept on going. A few more goldfish, one of which was stuck in a shell which greatly upset my sensitive fellow. And then, here it was, the big black door that we knew must be the entrance to the big boys, with a smile across our faces and anticipation bubbling in our tummies we pushed through. The aquarium is one of my favourite spots in London. I will say I think it is incredibly over priced and it frustrates me that all the 2-4-1 deals are for those travelling from outside of London (I'm a Londoner and I wanna see fishes too!) I will say it's lost the charm it once had since its been taken over by Merlin. The once simplistic setting is now quite gimmicky which makes me a little sad however the animals here speak for themselves. My favourite personal exhibits are obviously the amazing shark tank, but also a few smaller ones. There's a tiny octopus in one of the first tanks when you go in, a lovely staff member once got him to come out from hiding with a toy (so cute right!!) for me and he's honestly my absolute fav. read more

Recently went on a Friday afternoon to the aquarium lates. At £15 inc a glass of fizz and with no kids allowed i thought it was a really good hour or so to spend before Friday dinner however at the usual price of £30 on a busy weekend - well that's just a rip off and I would rate it 2*. Great for kids but just so over priced. As it was we didn't get to see the Penguins and the place isn't actually that big but the Sharks were impressive and there were lots of staff around to talk about the fish which was interesting. It was also in collab with Lego so there were tables full of it to play with. Would recommend the adults lates - think there is one in September and tickets for the early bird price are reasonably priced. read more

I'm from the coast so I've been used to seeing marine life on pretty much a day-to-day basis...for free. So after being in London for a few months I found myself a little nostalgic for our underwater friends and took a trip along to the London Aquarium to reconnect with my inner seafarer. To be honest I was incredibly dissapointed with what I found, the last aquarium I went to before this one was in Northern France and it was absolutely enormous. London is tiddly in comparison and doesn't really occupy you for much more than a couple of hours. To top things off I swear one of the rays went for a little nibble when I tried to pet them. The one saving grace was the sharks who were damn impressive but otherwise definitly not worth the rather extortionate entry fee. read more

I love the London Aquarium. It has a pretty decent variety of fish and is easy to get to. The sharks are easily the best thing there, and feeding time is pretty cool - they dart about, blink-and-you'll-miss-it style, and being able to go up and touch the rays is nice. I'd say it's fun for very young kids, and interesting for adults, but for kids somewhere in the middle they tend to get bored quite quickly as it can be repetitive. To that end, it would be nice if they changed things around a bit every so often. It can also be a bit mazey in there, with the route not being that easy to follow, but you can wander round at your own pace so if you miss something you can always go back. It also gets pretty hot in there, so take some water! read more

The London Aquarium was a nice experience, but still I didn't like it quite as much as other Sealife's around the world. In comparison to other Sealife's (for example in Paris or Oberhausen) the Sealife in London is kinda small. You can easily complete a tour in under one hour and still there is no need to rush... On the other hand their aquariums are nicely decorated and I especially liked the shark aquarium with it's big glasses. Another highlight definitely are the turtles. A total let-down is the "Shark-Walk". It's said to be only for "brave" people, but seriously - what is this!? You walk over the aquarium but there is NOTHING special or scary about it. There are some glass windows in the ground, but these are SO small that even IF it would break you couldn't fall trough. Perhaps this is different for some people - but for me I expected something different. An all-glass floor or perhaps even a "bridge" over the open aquarium. This would've been more exciting. Like this it was a quite boring experience which you should'nt waste your time on. Still if you like aquariums then this place is good to go! We enjoyed the aquarium, though agree with other reviews on the price. I imagine if you have kids and stay a bit longer it may be more value for your money. We enjoyed the large shark viewing tank and absolutely loved the penguin exhibit! The location is prime, just across the bridge from the Westminster underground station and apparently there is a discount ticket if you are doing the London eye and a few other places, be sure to check that out. Sealife was a great excursion while visiting London. The place was way bigger than it seemed on the outside. I went with my husband and daughter, we're all a bunch of big kids so you show us something under some shiny lights, we'll be there ooohhhing and wowing for days. The aquarium itself started with you walking over a glass covering that allowed you to see the sharks swimming below you. Terrifying YES... Cool ABSOLUTELY.... the facility basically has you start at ground level, work your way down the deeper you get into the facility and towards the end start working your way up until you exit out through the gift shop. The facts and sea creatures very a sight to see from the penguins, the beautiful jellyfish, smooth star fish, hungry sharks and more. It was a great last minute decision and the staff doesn't rush you through the exhibit. Only thing difficult about that place is being able to take a decent picture. It's a tourist heavy spot especially heavy with little kids so I would recommend going 2 hours before close to avoid the foot traffic. Lastly, tickets are responsibly priced but best if you buy it packaged with another excursion. read more

I originally come from a coastal town and was very excited about seeing all that the London Aquarium had to offer! I must say that I enjoyed it tremendously. The terrapin were my favourite! The way that they have set up the building makes it feel like you're exploring underwater and there is theme music to support the area or natural habitat for each display. Another highlight were the huge windows displaying the sharks and rays You could get a great picture seated in front of the window with a shark seemingly swimming up to you from behind! (quite convincing) I also actually enjoyed that there was not too much to see It felt like the perfect dose of fish-finding to me! I would recommend that you go and have a look! Fishies!!!! Lots of fishies big and small! Not to mention cru... crustac.... crustace.... (***!*!*) crabs, seahorses, turtles and anything else with a watery feel. I'm pretty obsessed with the sea and all creatures that live in it so I do like a visit to the aquarium once in a while and as it's now the 'Sea Life London Aquarium' I felt it would be a good time to see what is new on offer... The answer is: not a great deal! The new aquarium makes a big deal out of having a shark walk and a tunnel that cuts through one of the main tanks. Both are pretty laughable in size and the shark walk is especially unimpressive as the 'walk' part is probably about 3 metres long at the most and about 1 metre wide. This might be ok if you're 5 or 6 but seeing about a microsecond of a shark in the 5 minutes I hopefully stood watching didn't really do it for me. The walk is over one of the huge central tanks so the occupants really don't have any reason to come right to the top to say hello! Apart from that. I still like the aquarium but there are so many better ones in the world. Be warned though NEVER go on a public holiday unless you really feel like having a rugby scrum with parents, kids, pushchairs, babies and tour groups for absolutely every tank. In fact, the only space I found any room was the mini cinema which was showing a film about preserving the oceans..... read more

Firstly thank you to yelp for the free tickets for the after dark Valentines event. It was a very fun evening that we hadn't planned for. As to the aquarium it is a fun place to go if you want to see fish but that's really what you are going for. They do have penguins now but only a few and actually I felt very sorry for them as they looked very sad in their enclosed underground home. I'm not sure an aquarium is the best place for penguins. Highlights would be the shark tank which I literally could spend all day at a desk working whilst the sharks swim by in the background. This tank reappears on three levels and you get closer as the tank gets higher - so close you can look a shark in the eye!! They have now changed the rules about touching the rays and you can no longer do that but there is a small rock pool you can dip your hands in!! All in all we had a fun evening and it was a nice way to spend Valentines but I probably wouldn't go again unless we had an offer and it wouldn't be top on my list to visit in London! Thanks Yelp. It was ok..... Crowded(went on Tuesday after Easter). Bought tickets in advance and it took over 30 minutes just to collect tickets and get in. Isn't free-flowing... .basically its pathed all the way around... can't really skip from exhibit to exhibit or go back easily. Enclosed, claustrophobic, narrow.... not my favorite kinda place or feeling. I don't know what the deal is, but some of the biggest strollers I've ever seen were being navigated in this place. The people are rude, inconsiderate, and their kids are the same way. I was about to stiff arm and shove a couple little kids for forcing their way through and pushing my daughter. I came so my daughter could see the aquarium, not vie for a spot on future installments of the Hunger Games. A bit pricey for the experience, but sure... I'm spoiled by the one on Oahu(cheaper), Monterey Bay(bigger), and Steinhart(newer, bigger, nicer. My daughter had a good time, but she's almost bulletproof... I know better, and unless you just have some time to kill with kids, or money burning a hole in your pocket, or some hankering to see live fish... move on. read more

After reading the previous reviews of the London Aquarium, I was a little suprised and now almost feel embarrassed to say, I actually really enjoyed the London Aquarium. This place is based on the Southbank, really close to the Salvador Dali Museum / Gallery. One day, my boyfriend and I decided to have some stupid London "tourist type" fun so we wandered along the Southbank and decided to visit the aquarium. Yes, it's a little expensive and it's a bit small but what do you expect in the city centre? We weren't expecting much, how many fish can they keep under such a small space by the Thames. We just went along, we were tourists for the day, we got to see some sharks and some exotic fish and were pretty happy. It felt like a little bit of calm amongst the Southbank's busy, hustle and bustle. If you want a massive aquarium with an array of weird and wonderful marine life, don't expect much from the London Aquarium - just go along and enjoy what *is* there already, you'll be pleasantly surprised... read more

So, it's a pretty solid morning out, but I have to say, bang for the buck isn't there. Is there an equivalent for "bang for your buck" in pounds sterling? Hmm... London Aquarium is just a bit small for the near £20 cost for adults. I would say that there's not a whoooole lot of variety here, but what they have is cool. I did enjoy all the fishies! But if you're expecting lots of tanks with the super colorful types of tropical salt-water fish, you may be disappointed. Lots of rays, sharks, and two gorgeous sea turtles swimming about in their main tank which is featured throughout the aquarium on different levels. I was plenty satisfied at seeing seahorses, which are always one of my favorites at any aquarium! Penguins are of course, amazing. They also seemed quite acclimated to the audience as they kept swimming by the window and making a show! So overall, not the best aquarium I've ever been to, but decent enough. Las week I visited London aquarium. I bought tickets in promotion 2for1 which was very good deal otherwise spending almost £50 for two persons it's too much. I was little bit disappointed because there was information that there will be penguins inside but at the end we found out that there wasn't. I asked why and they told me that there should come back at the end of May, probably. But still place with to visit. It's something in between a waste and the best deal ever. Didn't think that London's Sea world will be just okay, nothing special. Aquarium does have 2 floors, but it doesn't stand even close with Canary Islands Tenerife's Loro Park, but the price for London's is even higher. Yes, you'll see most sea creatures, but I'm not sure if you'd like to return. I was disappointed, especially with penguins and sharks. There were like 7 penguins and 3 of them were turned from the tourists staring in the wall. Same story with sharks.. Before freaking dangerous sharks rout, lots of BEWARE signs were written, that there is glass and sharks are right under you, but.. you must be kidding, guys.. just 4 meters of "sharks road" with 3 little glasses to watch a couple of little babies sharks sleeping? I was so excited to see jellyfish and they weren't there when I went, epic sadness! But the rest of the aquarium was a good stroll. Certainly not the cheapest thing to do on an afternoon, but if you take your time and play with the fishes it can be worth your while. It's definitely a family place,and great for kids. read more

The first impressions were: here we are in a queue, masses of tourists pushing around, the winds of the Thames making the waiting chilly and then an even chillier entrance fee ... More queues as we were guided into the subterranean labyrinth, but, hey, the kids wanted to see it so badly. But then, after having crossed the transparent floor over the shark tank we were introduced into a subaquatic world where the whole experience was themed around the oceans and rivers, decoration and sound deepening the impressions. I even managed to (nearly) forget about the masses around me. You really get seduced and absorbed into the world of fish, Atlantic, tropical, Amazonas, Antarctic ... It was really amazing! Sooooo disappointed! It is so overpriced for such a small aquarium, if I had not got in on the student price I would have been really upset. Save yourself the money and just watch it in the background of Closer. The reason that I am so disappointed is that it is so small. The London Zoo is expensive but you can spend an entire day there, the aquarium prices are comparable and it takes an hour... maybe. The shark tank is pretty cool, with very large sharks, but I can't help but wonder how bored they must be. I love the aquarium! It's a bit like the zoo. I get to learn stuff and see quite amazing things. Like seahorses dragging other seahorses around by their tails. I like seahorses LOTS. They're horses in the sea. How much cooler can sea creatures get? You can touch sting rays (yes, probably while singing the Sting Ray theme tune) and you can see scary jelly fish. You learn stuff and oooh! there's sharks! (Yes, you'll sing the Jaws theme too!) It's not cheap (go pick up one of those two for one leaflets in your nearest overground station) - in fact it's overpriced for the amount of time you'll spend there (£15 I think?) but you'll have fun and feel clever like you learnt stuff. Plus, I bought a really cool cuddly toy sting ray in the gift shop and he's brilliant. read more

This is a very expensive attraction but there are always offers to be had - supermarkets do two for one deals and we even had the same deal on a weetabix packet so keep your eyes peeled. If you ignore the price, it's a magical experience for children - especially really young ones - mine are 2 and 4 and they love it - any child who loved Finding Nemo will be transfixed. The best part is the tunnel through the huge tank - sharks, rays and fish swimming above you - as close as you can get to scuba without getting wet! read more
