The last 2 visits I had a bad experience. At checkout both times they charged me more than the ticketed price. It is difficult to monitor the transaction, because you don't see the total amounts they ring up. When I got home and looked over the receipt the amounts charged were more than the tags had indicated. Since they take the tags off at the register and keep them, I had no way of reckoning with them. The first time this happened I let it go, thinking it was a simple error, but it happened again. I will not continue to shop there now. read more

Every time I return to give these folks another try, my experience just gets worse and worse. Selection is just ok, prices are on the high side, and the shop itself is more pleasant than a thrift store. BUT, terrible people work there. Do the owners not know, or just not care?, how the employees speak to customers? Because, wow. Incompetent AND rude, never a good combo. The new owners have created a menswear section,a good vintage section, ....and the purse sections and jewelry counter are gorgeous! So much to choose from. Be sure to snap something up if you like it, as the merchandise here moves quickly. One great pricing feature is markdowns! If a piece is in the showroom more than a month, it will be marked down. I had such a nice experience here. I went in twice in two days and found a sweater, a pair of new pants and a shirt for a little over $ 100 total - all in great shape, clean and freshly steamed. I wore them right away. There's a nice mixture of designer stuff, really interestingjewelry and then mid-fashion pieces,so I felt like I could splurge on designer stuff if I wanted, or get some basic items (which I did). This is a fabulous high-end clothing consignment shop. Their items they sell are impeccable. They carry a gorgeous collection of dresses and purses as well as jeans, shirts and shoes. The shoe collection was a little bit of a let down, but that didn't surprise me. Shoes are hard to keep in great condition and I have larger than normal feet so my options are always limited. Pricing is not cheap but definitely at a significant savings from purchasing the same pieces brand-new. Don't come here expecting some thing like The Buffalo Exchange. The two shops shouldn't even be compared. Seams to Fit is all about quality and designer pieces. Super hit or miss (which can be expected with re-sale) but always fun to look around when I'm in the mood for it. I've shopped here for over 5 years now, and have some really solid pieces from them (mainly shoes). I'm really into designer resale and had high hopes for this shop. I wasn't impressed with their selection at all. There were some high end items mixed with Banana Republic. The bag selection was meh. I get that consignment is based on what people bring in but that aside they had 4-5 women working in clothing area that provided zero help as they stood around. I have always liked Seams to Fit. They have good curators for high end fashion - really high end to just plain high end. They often have great jewelry and the occasional amazing deal on Cydwoq shoes and such. The prices are too high - in bigger cities, prices are lower to compete with the sales of the designers, but it is nice to have this store in Portland. I will say, though, that I really hate their new store. The old store was cozy and well lit, with a sweet little upstairs area for the less high end designers. The new store is trying too hard to be Soho and instead ends up feeling like a panopticon. The staff is at a desk in the center and it just feels bizarre now, like you are shopping in a warehouse under the eye of God. In fact, I'm afraid it's SO unpleasant that I won't be back for a while. read more

Amazing selection for high end/luxe. Gorgeous jewelry which they take the time to display beautifully. Things can go very fast so if you like something, chances are it will disappear if you don't jump on it. It's also expensive but it's worth it (most of the time). They are very picky with what items they will consign and I've had some stuff turned down but they were nice about it. After reading the reviews I thought I'd love this place. There were only a couple people shopping when I dropped by, but the ladies working didn't even greet me. It's a pet peeve of mine, I feel especially in a small privately owned shop, if you don't acknowledge someones presence, it's just rude... The designer items are a focal point, but I've seen the same items at discount stores for half the price they mark them as. So perhaps for the very rare gem you won't find at discount stores, $50 for a used pair of jeans doesn't bother you. But I found the selection in everything lacking. Very few items to choose from. Very few items in my size (I'm small). I couldn't even find shoes in my size (6 1/2, not that rare of a size). I can tell they only choose items they would wear. Everything in the shop is definitely of a certain style. It's like they have a shop tailored for their specific tastes, with very few items, in very few small sizes, so that other women who dress just like them and are their size can shop their "closet" essentially. That's exactly what this place feels like. I love to shop and I have a very open style, so it says a lot when I can't even find one thing to buy. read more

I guess the thing that I dislike the most is that I've taken Italian designer clothes in for consignment that were of the highest quality and expense, but if they weren't in the absolute latest "style" for twenty-somethings, I was immediately put in the category of "Vintage." I live in the neighborhood and drop by every few weeks, and it's now amusing to see how long it takes before anyone looks up to say hello -- and forget anyone offering to help. Particularly unusual for Portland, which is a very friendly place. Still, they're better than their associated furniture store, next door, where no one ever speaks to customers. i went into this store today with a brand new bag to present for consignment. First I was asked if I had an account and if this was the only item I had. Didn't know why that should make any difference. I told her that I was first going through my bags before other items I wished to get rid of. The woman looked over my bag at least 3 times as if the repeat inspection would show anything new. It just looked like she was wanting to find something wrong. She left the counter for a moment and came back, examined the bag again and told me that they would not be accepting my bag for consignment and proceeded to tell me about what they would sell it for, etc. She also pointed out a dark area around a seam line on the inside of the bag. I explained to her that I had never used the bag and that I didn't know what the dark area was. She said it was glue. There was no glue on the bag as it was sewn, not glued. Here is what I came away with. I was running lots of errands and not dress up on a hot day. I was wearing flip flops which may have made me look unlike their other customers. These folks have really missed the boat with me because when I start going though my shoes and closet, I will take my Michael Kors coat (worn only once) and my Ferragamo heels to a different shop for consignment.
