If I could give Sean Clay ZERO stars, I would. He is the rudest, most unprofessional colorist/stylist I have ever encountered in my life (and I've been to many expensive ones in Beverly Hills and Hollywood). I asked him politely (via text message) to please add a few more highlights and a toner to my hair, as one side looked different (lots more highlights and very yellow/brassy) than the other side (it was so noticeable that even my son's babysitter asked me about it). In response, he tells me that I looked like a disaster when I came to him (which was extremely rude and not even true). Then he tells me that his first appointment isn't for another six weeks. I politely responded that I was simply requesting a minimal correction, which was common courtesy in his profession. He responded by saying "good bye" and "you're blocked"!?! He also left me a scathing (and insane) voice message while I was feeding my toddler. I tried calling him back but he wouldn't respond. I'm honestly in shock right now. This man is in his 50s and claims to have been doing hair for decades. How he thinks he can treat people this way and still have clients is unfathomable to me. Oh, and he charged me $200 (would only accept cash) to do my hair at his house (which reaks of tobacco smoke) for this hair disaster that I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix for me. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS!!! (I've posted the text messages to prove what an insane jerk this guy is.) read more

Ah.. Sean Clay. ;) Sean has been my stylist for almost 14 years. I have very thick yet fine kinky curly hair. We have tried a few things but he has PERFECTED a thermal keratin treatment, I have almost NO hair breakage which is unheard of. He mixed a color that is almost my exact natural shade and only covers my grays. Keeping my natural color was / is a big deal to me and he made it work!! I've been to salons all through LA, Orange County and now San Diego and I'd have to say Sean is the best hairdresser I have ever been to!! His haircuts are amazing, I have a lot of hair, but it is fine hair and he knows just how to cut it so when it grows out it still looks like a fresh cut. WOW!!! Sean Clay is an amazing "seasoned" stylist who really listened to me about how I wanted my hair to look. He said cutting hair is precision and he takes his time to be precise. After looking at my haircut when I arrived at the salon, he showed me it was not precise and both sides weren't even and there was too much bulk causing it to lose its shpae. I have tons (thankfully) of very fine wavy hair. He also has curly/wavy hair so he understands how it needs to be cut. He took time to explain to me how my hair didn't flow from level to level, but was cut in steps that weren't blended...sort of like boxes! He thinned my hair a lot, but kept the length. Sean is a wonderful person and went over and above what most stylists would do to educate me on how to blow dry my hair that would produce the results I wanted. He showed me products that would maintain the style, etc. I feel my hair will keep it's shape all day now without using so many products. After using Supercuts for many years, and having a fairly simple hairstyle (I'm a guy afterall) I decided that I needed to make a drastic change. I didn't want to place may visual fate in the hands of supercuts and so I found Sean. Salon Antoine is a very nice place with lots of nice hair stylists, and I was able to contact Sean on his cell phone and setup an appointment for the next day. I even texted him a photo of what I was hoping for. He was confident he could give me the look, and went to work. In no time and for only $25 he had cut it washed it styled and gave me a lesson on the products I would need to maintain the look. The salon charges separately for their hair products and Sean was in no way pushing to sell me product afterward. After all his great advice I wanted to get something that he recommended directly before I wandered into the aisles of a drug store unprepared, and so I got some product for another $24. He ran my card for the store, and then ran it again through his cell phone for the cut. Then I was able to tip in cash. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend him. read more
