Convenient location, very friendly employees and accommodating. The gal who did my hair did a good job with highlights and blowdry. My only suggestion is that they upgrade the interior a bit. I never leave reviews but I am in tears over the way this salon has treated me. Stylists (Rosie) lack effective communication and will darken your hair despite being told not to then recommend you go elsewhere when you asked to get someone else to fix hair they ruined. When brought to the attention of the "upscale" salon they will tell you the same-go elsewhere "within your budget" if you aren't happy with your hair implying my hair needs aren't worth their time bc I'm on a budget. I also asked for more layers and was denied and left with damp hair in 40 degree weather. I'm hoping they will at least refund me if they aren't going to live up to their policy of leaving clients refreshed and obsessed with their hair. If you're on the fence about this salon I too recommend you go somewhere that will treat you like the valued client you are bc I've never in my life been treated with so little respect by a place of business. After recently moving to Wilmington from out of state, I worked hard to find a salon replacement for my 6-week hairstyling, root touch up and highlights. I was very glad to find B3 and Ali Johnson, stylist. The salon is doing a very good job of trying to keep clients safe (taking temps, filling our Covid-19 questionnaire, reduced capacity, wiping stations down after each client, spreading out, employee protocols same as clients) and I appreciate this. My only complaint here is that there is a sign in the washing area that says we try not to talk here to protect you and us from Covid exposure--yet I observed a stylist and client talking excessively and loudly---even though the sign was right in front of them! Masks are a big help but not 100% protection--so keeping stylist and customer conversation to the minimum is an additional help to stop the spread. As for Ali---she has given me incredible hair cuts that have provided my thin hair with terrific body and volume--this is a talent! She also has done a good job on my complicated coloring process---covering gray roots, doing highlights and lowlights to maintain the kind of dimension I like and subduing the monthly fade that occurs with hair coloring and sun exposure. read more

Just tried to make an appointment for a haircut and color, and was told that I would have to make a $100.00 deposit prior to setting up my appointment. I am a 63 year old female and NEVER in my life have I had a salon ask for a deposit. This is a CLEAR message to me that they have problems with their services and have to secure their money up front. I am new to Wilmington and was on the hunt for a new salon/stylist. A friend recommended B3 salon and it did not disappoint! Lauren is amazing and was a magician with my hair color. I recently started transitioning to a lighter color after dyeing my hair dark for years, which I knew would be a process. I had a balayage done recently in the Durham area any my hair was left a brassy color with horizontal strips of darker hair. Lauren was able to blend the color perfectly and got the tone just right. Let's just say Thomas does a good job but is always hung over and makes sure you know your bothering him and wasting his time. Your an afterthought and you will hear about his travels his Wella certifications and how great he is. His phone matters more than you and when you color he charges to dry your hair not style but dry and then you get the joy of going home and redoing it so your presentable. I find them to be more expensive than normal and Thomas needs to learn professional behavior more than brag about how great he is the entire time you sit in his chair. This was not a one time experience I gave him the benefit of the doubt three times and when he dismissed me the third time. You can not tip on charge card either yet your expected to tip. Who carries cash??? How this place is rated so great is beyond me. Not friendly. I am so impressed with the owner and her desire to have a professional salon that you are treated like you matter. She has already addressed these issues and I am returning with a different stylist. read more

This salon offers everything I need, and at a tolerable price. My haircuts with Amber Lee are always what I've asked for. I had a nice pedicure there one time. The prices are not posted, so i'm always wondering what I'll be charged, but they tend to be on par with other upscale salons in town. I am so happy to have found such a high quality salon in Wilmington! Thank you Maari, Natalie, and Thomas! Maari has been doing my eyebrows for about a year now and she is WONDERFUL. It is so extremely hard to trust someone with eyebrows, but don't think twice about going to see her! I would trust her with everything she does- eyebrows, lashes, makeup etc. Natalie and Thomas have both cut my hair, and both times they were among best haircuts of my life. In the past, I almost never walked out of a salon loving my haircut and was obsessed both times. Loved it just as much at home when styling it myself after these cuts. I am never going anywhere else! They are both exceptionally talented! I had my hair colored this past weekend by Thomas. He did a PHENOMENAL job. He is very detail oriented and a total perfectionist. I came in to the appointment thinking I wanted a balayage and instead of just doing the balayage, he took the time look at pictures of the look I was going for/ talk about it, and was able to recommend that at this time balayage was not the right technique for me, but rather the right technique for my touch ups in a few months. He used a very involved technique that achieved exactly what I wanted. Many other stylists would have just done the balayage, but he was able to use his expertise to give me what I didn't know I wanted. I have dark hair and highlights can be difficult to blend out, but the color he gave me was perfect for my skin tone, evenly blended and passed the straight hair test (blended even when my hair is straight and not curled)! LITERALLY DESERVES NO STARS! DO NOT GO HERE! Only had to give one star to write this review. My worst hair nightmare came true last Thursday! I went in for a simple balayage and cut with Ali. Got there at 4:15 for a 4:30 appointment and waited at least past 4:30. Showed Ali a picture of MYSELF with balayage that I had done two years ago and walked out looking the complete opposite of my picture! I was there till past 8pm and was sent home with no haircut since the front desk manager wanted to go home. They said I could come back on Monday for my cut and if I wanted to darken my hair since clearly they got the hint that I didn't like it. WHAT HAIR SALON SENDS SOMEONE HOME WITH NO HAIRCUT AND SAYS TO COME BACK ON MONDAY FOR ONE? I also had a wedding to go to last weekend so that was embarrassing. My "balayage" literally starts from my roots to tips. I specifically said I wanted it look natural and I walked out with bleached white blonde streaked hair. I cried all night and the next morning and I was sent home with wet hair since they wanted to leave. I didn't know it took 4 hours to color hair and not even get a cut. Also my hair is so streaky and I have a huge spot in the back of my head with my natural brown color that she didn't even color. Worst $150 spent of my life. I called two days later asking for a refund and they wouldn't refund my money and then wanted me to come back in to get it fixed with Ali. WHAT A JOKE. I took a chance and booked a last minute appointment to get my son's hair cut based on the great reviews for this salon and hit the jackpot with Zack! For the first time ever my son left a hair cut smiling. He's very young but has very specific ideas of how he wants his hair and everyone else we've tried over the last couple of years just gives him a typical boy cut. Zack listened to what he wanted, what his ultimate goal was for his hair (long!) and made great recommendations for how to cut his hair today that will look good while he's growing it out and ultimately get him the length and style he's after. This salon is the real deal. My fiance and I are from Raleigh and we were in Wilmington for the day to have engagement photos taken. I walked into this salon after having a terrible experience at a different salon and needed emergency help to fix the clownish hair and makeup job so I would not have to cancel our photo shoot. The entire staff was super sweet and accommodating to me even though I was a walk in. Natalie was my hair and makeup artist, and I believe she as well as all the whole b3 team are true artists. They all had cute hair and pretty makeup so I knew from the moment I walked in I was in good hands. I came in almost in tears and left with a huge smile on my face and was excited to take photos. Natalie made me look gorgeous. I was obsessed with my hair; she looked at a photo of what I was going for and was able to finagle my terrible updo into exactly what I had imagined. Then she took off my mimi from the drew carey show makeup and expertly applied makeup and accentuated my features perfectly. I left the salon so happy and literally could not stop looking at myself all the way to the photo shoot location. Chelle was able to book Natalie to do my hair and makeup for my wedding even though she was already booked that day. I worked with Shell to book stylists for me and my bridal party. Since they were closed on Sunday they found stylists to work on their day off and on a holiday weekend to come to our house to do our hair. I had a trial with Ramsey so we could get an idea of the overall style I was going for. On the day of we had Ramsey and Natalie come over to do my hair, four bridesmaids and the mother of the bride. Ramsey and Natalie were amazing and such a nice addition to the group at the house that day. Everyone's hair turned out absolutely amazing. There were a lot of pinterest pictures floating around and they did a perfect job at capturing what everyone wanted. Ramsey did my bridal hair and it was absolutely perfect. I had so many compliments and it lasted all night long and through some great dancing. I highly recommend Ramsey, Natalie, and the team over at Beauty Bar. They are professionals and genuinely great people to work with. Thanks again for contributing to our perfect day. I also booked makeup with Maari at Beauty Bar. She is absolutely amazing. She uses all Mac makeup and is truly a pro at what she does. I had a trial in the months before the wedding and from that day felt 100% comfortable with her handling the glam for me and my girls. It was a hot, humid day when we got married and the makeup lasted all day through the sweat, tears and dancing. We all looked so amazing! We all felt comfortable with Maari and she tailored our looks to our individual needs. Not only is she an amazing makeup artist, but she was wonderful to work with as well and it was great having her at the house that day while we got ready.
