Currently, I'm seeking alternative care with different doctors (outside SBCHC) because no physician here seems to know what's wrong with me medically. Although I'm sure I'm not the only person that has come to the clinic with my exact health problems or at least very close. I don't know maybe Guinness Book of World Records should meet me. Or doctors need A buffering course on medicine. Not sure. I'm experiencing a lot of what people call "Band-Aid" approaches to what's going on, I'm just getting pills for my ailments rather than finding out the root cause. *Too many pills can make you sick as well*. It's just too easy to prescribed pills and the doctors here are not really trying anything else. The only good thing remaining now is their psychiatrist and the courtesy shuttle. There is a pharmacy in the building that is a hit or miss probably will switch that too since I only use it cause it's in the building, but I don't plan on going here much longer. I'm not getting better with the current doctors/RN's etc. My advice is if you're medically complex seek alternative care because you probably won't get anywhere here.

Despite a clear medical history -- multiple IVF cycles, a miscarriage, persistent symptoms (throat pressure, 20 lb unexplained weight gain, brain fog), and a first-degree family history of Hashimoto's -- my requests for a full thyroid panel, cortisol testing, and an endocrinology referral were all refused. Instead of investigating root causes, my concerns were minimized and attributed to post-nasal drip, and my requests were dismissed as "not indicated" because my TSH was normal. Anyone familiar with thyroid disease knows that autoimmune thyroid issues can exist for years with normal TSH levels. This approach felt more like defending insurance guidelines than advocating for patient health. I ultimately had to insist on my chart documenting these refusals so there is a record if delayed diagnosis or disease progression occurs. I will not be returning to this office, and I cannot recommend Dr. MacDougall to anyone who expects thorough, patient-centered care.

It's always…read morepleasant to go in for a visit (as pleasant as a doctor's appointment can be), whether it's planned or unplanned. The front desk is constantly busy and it can take a short wait before they get to you, but don't mistake that for rudeness. Dr. Lytle has appointments as early as 7am, which means you don't have to be late for work or skip out early in the middle of the day. I've never had to wait months for an appointment. Even though it's nearly impossible to book her on a last minute basis if you get sick (which isn't different from any other doctor's office), there's always a NP available to see you w/in the next day or two of calling. Dr. Lytle shows genuine care and interest in her patient's health and well being. She always asks questions and actually takes time to listen, which is rare form these days. She also prides herself on being on time and doesn't like her patients to wait. She'll apologize if she's late. It's the little things that matter. =) I've also seen NP Meghan a few times as well when I've been sick, and she's great. She's so personable, friendly, and easy to talk to. She really takes her time to talk to you to understand what's going on. I've never ever felt rushed to get out the door with her. I can't say anything but praises for MCA. Even though I don't work in the city anymore, it's well worth the hassle of parking, T-ing, or fighting the peak hour crowd to see a doctor who actually cares about me!

I received no less than 6 emails and texts to remind me of the appointment and to pay the copay, which I prepaid online. After I left work early and waited 1.5 hr at BMC, someone came to tell me that they cannot see me today because they did not receive the images from my prior mammogram, and I needed to reschedule. You couldn't have told me that 1.5 hr ago? I could've contacted the other clinic within the last 1.5 hr to have them send the images over. Whose responsibility is it to get the images? When I booked the appointment, I made sure to tell them my original mammogram was from another clinic. No one followed up with me. No one asked me to sign a release. They sure sent me enough reminders to get their money though. When I asked for my money back, I had to wait to "talk to the manager." They could not give me my money back, but told me to call the 800 number for BMC's billing dept. No, thank you! I'm not wasting any more of my time with BMC. I just disputed the charge with my credit card. This is not the standard of care that I would expect even at a small local rundown hospital, let alone what they claim they are at BMC. If you are looking for a high standard of care and a team that follows up and follows through, BMC is not it. My husband also had many bad experiences with BMC making appointments in the wrong department and cancelling on him without notice. When you are dealing with cancer or potential cancer patients, it doesn't seem to matter to them. Time is not of the essence. As long as they get their money, they're all good. Do yourself a favor. Go somewhere else. There are much better hospitals in Boston.

I feel that our scalp health is something easily looked over and I was looking forward to treating myself to this service. First, I went over some of my concerns with my specialist and she took photos of my scalp to diagnose any issues. This area is where I deducted a star because a lot of information was being discussed and it was hard to keep track of it all. She gave me a lot of tips and recommendations and I asked if she would be able to write them down for me, but she said they would be in my file. However the file did not really include anything other than the service I was given and recommended products, but not any of the several actions she recommended a incorporate into my routine. I felt this information was a part of the steep price so I would have appreciated being able to have a chance to write it down. After this portion, we went to the spa where I received a head, neck and shoulder massage along with an array of scalp treatments. This lasted over an hour and was incredibly relaxing and worth the money alone. I did not feel it was rushed, she really look her time with each step. After this, she took another round of photos, followed by 5 minutes of red light therapy and some light blow drying. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and while I wont be going the recommended once a month due to price, I will definitely do it once in a while.
