Was extremely disappointed in the property considering the previous reviews and comments from people that had stayed there before. For a three-night stay, I was billed $608, which is on par with a Hilton or Marriott, and this was more like a Budget 6. I should have known when I was checking in, as there were multiple people complaining. When I entered my room, as you can see from the pictures, the wallpaper was peeling, furniture was damaged, mold and dirt on vents, and the door lock was missing pieces. I worked in this industry for years, so I know it can be challenging for older properties, but there is simply no excuse for the condition of this room when they are charging these prices. Additionally, the AC was OFF when I entered the room on a 95-degree day, so the room was like a sauna. It took at least three of four hours before it was tolerable in there. To add insult to injury, the room was not refreshed on Sunday even though I left in the morning and did not return until late at night (and yes, I had the maid service requested sign on the door). The location of the property is ideal, but that is about the only good thing I have to say. Just extremely disappointing.

On a recent visit to the Seaport Inn & Marina, I experienced a roller-coaster of reactions.... from being less impressed, to very impressed, to overall less impressed again. On driving by the inn initially, I was surprised by how run-down looking it appeared from the exterior. It appears that there has been little to no updating to its outside appearance and had I not been looking for this address specifically, I probably wouldn't have given it a second glance. Happy that there was a large parking lot on a side street for this location, I ushered myself indoors for the wedding I was there for. This is about the time I became more impressed! The wedding took place in three different rooms of the inn's entertainment space. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and main banquet areas were all beautifully decorated. Chairs donned white slip covers with blue bows, accent lighting along the walls created a magical atmosphere. Everything was clean and well presented... the only thing that was a bit strange were the mirrored ceilings. Any woman with a low cut or loose upper garment was at risk of wandering eyes from an overhead view. In any case, the ceremony space was beautiful and the cocktail hour, intimate but enjoyable. The appetizers served were delicious! The veggie platter, stuffed mushrooms, and other such finger foods were plentiful and easily accessible. The bathrooms were very fancy and clearly renovated. Around the time it became less enjoyable was in the inn's banquet hall. The temperature was quite cold in this room... so much so and noticeable that my date went out to retrieve my coat to wear to warm up. Thinking this would change with people up and about dancing, I was dismayed when it remained chilly. Dinner was served in a buffet style which was nice as I was able to pick and choose what I wanted... thing is, my salmon was severely undercooked. Or rather, not cooked except for the outside millimeter of my piece. On returning the piece to the staff to make them aware, the comment was "Oh, it must have come from the tray on this side". So they already knew there was a problem and didn't do anything about it? At least three people's salmon at my table was in the same condition. Dangerous thing to do in a dimly lit banquet hall with elderly and kids in attendance. After dinner, staff were quick to clear the tables... including the water glasses and water. I guess for those with plans of getting crazy on the dance floor would have to trek over to the bar in one corner to stay hydrated. Why not at least leave those? Overall, I was impressed by the facilities and what the couple did with the space available but was disappointed in the aspects of the venue that the facility was responsible for. Very much enjoyed the wedding... wish the Seaport had more consistency in their service.

I lingered with a glass, reading my book while soulful music softly played, quiet conversations among the few other patrons drifted in and out of my consciousness, and the plaintive cries of seagulls outside were occasionally audible. Whimsical posters dressed up the plain but cozy room (a rabbit in a pink bathrobe holding a bottle of champagne and divers leaping into a wine glass). I could have spent all afternoon there, reading and sipping. But I had places to be. If I stayed longer I might have tried some of the food. It's more in the line of light snacks than an actual meal, mostly cold, but they were more interesting than the standard charcuterie plate offered by similar venues, and I liked that they listed the country or state of origin of everything. For dessert, how about a slice of cheesecake from Chill's of Warren, RI - or a flight of 3 for $21! Beer lovers, don't fear Coastal Bubbles. Menu listed five, all of which I've never heard of, from Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Portugal, sure to interest the connoisseur. The menu that day included 25 wines by the glass. Their high-tech "Coravin System" keeps the open bottles fresh, and my Croation Matsuško was flawless in that respect. Port lovers might try the "100 Years Of Port Flight": the 10, 20, 30, and 40 year vintages of Van Zellers. I'll be doing that next time, with the cheesecake.

I came here with a big group (40), and the owners set up a private space for us in the basement. It was so lovely, the table already set with place settings and glasses, string lights in a corner, a plate of appetizers that went around the room. Since it had been prearranged what we would eat, I couldn't tell you the names of the dishes, but I know everything was delicious: from the fried fish to the chicken in a heavenly sauce to the rice and steamed vegetables (I didn't realize rice could taste so good!). We ended up with vegetarians whom we didn't know about, and the owner immediately arranged for a vegetable filled pasta to be brought to them. I highly recommend coming here, particularly if you are looking for a Portuguese restaurant that makes you feel at home! Based on all of my friends there who *are* Portuguese or Brazilian, it reminded them of home.

(Maybe we should have asked if he was the cook, too.) Our beverages arrived quickly, and Tony was warm, engaging, efficient, and helpful. He not only advised us to buy a bottle of wine (which was grest), but he also made good menu suggestions and was knowledgeable about the dishes and their preparation. I order the octopus (my reason for going to Cotali), and it was excellent... very tender and lots of it. One suggestion: plate it with a small topping of some kind off sauce (I'm thinking mayo-based sweet and spicy).

To their credit, the hotel was accommodating when I had to reschedule my stay due to an emergency, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Cleanliness was a major issue. There was some kind of dried liquid on a chair, the remote was visibly dirty, and the corners of the room and walls looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. It didn't give a great impression. The "harbor view" wasn't really what I expected either. You can technically see the water off in the distance most of the view is just rooftops and nearby buildings. Not worth the extra cost, and shouldn't be a selling point of the rooms. Breakfast was very minimal grab-and-go items, and after seeing the condition of the room, I wasn't exactly eager to eat anything there anyway. The staff were neither friendly nor rude, just indifferent. The on-site restaurant was closed during our stay, so I can't comment on that. The hallways also had a noticeable stale odor, somewhere between stale weed and corn chips, which didn't help the overall experience. If you're just looking for a place to crash for a night and need the location, it might do. Otherwise, there are definitely better options in New Bedford.
