Here's a fun story. I bought all new kitchen appliances - not a small investment. They were…read moredelivered a week later, stove and dishwasher were BOTH dented. Stove dent wouldn't show, so I took it and the company offered $100 off on that. They said they'd replace the dishwasher. A second weeks goes by - we waited around during that four hour window they can't do better than, and they brought a STOVE. So truck left with the stove. We still had the dented dishwasher. Another week, I hear nothing. Then I call. "Oh, it's coming in three days," I am told. No one told me. "And it's between 3 and 7 PM." In the dark. In a house I don't live in yet. I said no, and they said call us again in two days and we'll have a new day and time for you. "Daylight hours," I said. "No problem," I was told. Two days later I call and delivery is between 7 AM and 11 AM. I call delivery - 7 AM is insane - I live half an hour away from this house. The Home Depot person I call is sympathetic, but there's no other option. She tells me to call after delivery and maybe there can be some sort of refund for the trouble this has been. So I get up before the sun, drive to an empty house, and wait. I finally get it, and they take the old one away. I email the company to tell them I want some sort of satisfaction for this mess, and they offer me a GIFT card. Like I'm going to buy more stuff there. I am still waiting to see how this works out, but this has more than confirmed my low opinion of Home Depot, or Home Disappointment, as a contractor I know has dubbed it. True indeed.

Since the problem was the loss of refrigerant by a leak somewhere, and the internal icemaker not working, the anticipated cost made me consider getting a new refrigerator. It would be nice to say that I went to the CBD of my community to find an appliance dealer. But that doesn't exist, so the choices are limited to a big box store or an hour travel. I suggest reviewing Consumer Reports for guidance. I did my Net research first. I opted for Home Depot. I looked at many models and decided upon one that was highly rated, energy efficient qualifying for a NYS rebate. I paid for it on a Weds and the cost of delivery and removing the old one very reasonable. Oneonta Home Depot said it could be delivered on Sat. between 10 AM and 2PM. Well to my happy surprise, I got a call at 945 AM that the delivery team would be at my home at 10 AM. They did a great job of removing my old, wounded refrigerator and put the new one in its place. It's nice to have a store that sells appliances, with a year warranty on parts and labor and actually does what it says. I like that Home Depot also sent me an email of my invoice and how to prepare for the delivery.

After locating an item, I walked around the corner and noticed a pile of garden hose reel with wheels with a huge sale sign that stated it was $10.00 off the $39.00 price now $29.00. Ours broke last year and my husband was at the other end of the store, so I engaged it to wheel it to him to check it out. It was perfect. Walked everything down to cashier which scanned the garden hose reel first. It came up with a price of $74.99. I said that is marked $29.00 on sale and i asked if she wanted me to get the sign to save time as we had waited for 15 minutes to check out. Her response was yes but she stated that she had to call the manager to change a price. I went to retrieve the sign when I got to the pile of hose reels, I checked to make sure there wasn't a different one that the sign was supposed to be attached to. Nope they were all the same! When the manager finally arrived, he took the sign and went to the pile, came back and said they were mismarked and I should have read the "little numbers". I stated NO that wasn't my job. I came upon a pile of all the same products, and it had a huge sign that stated a price, that's the price. If there had been more than one model I would have researched it further. I have worked retail most of my life and if something was marked wrong you had to honor that price, correct it and someone who marked it got a talking too. But not in today's world you have to wait on yourself, check the "little numbers" to make sure the person that should have marked it right did their job. Needless to say, I won't be shopping at Lowes again. To top it off I picked up a sales flyer when we entered the store, I put it into the cart with my husband as I went down an aisle. When I came back, he stated the flyer is in Spanish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't read Spanish. The language in American is English!!!!!!!!! If Lowes feels that their flyers need to be in other languages to make a buck, fine put up a sign that those flyers will be at the service desk, and they should be in every language that might be needed.

I am giving this store a one star review only because it is not possible to give them zero stars…read more The level of incompetence is unbelievable at this location. On July 20th, I purchased a gas stove at this location. It was a double oven gas range, which originally retailed for $3099. It was marked down to $774. After waiting around for 30 minutes for someone to show up in the appliances section, I finally went to customer service and requested that they send someone to the appliance section. When the associate showed up I asked about buying the stove. I said that I wanted to buy it for delivery, but I did not want to set the delivery date immediately because I wanted to go home and double check my space to be sure it would fit. For some reason this created confusion. After calling his supervisor, he said he would sell it to me as if I was taking it away with me, and I could come back tomorrow to arrange delivery if I still wanted it. I agreed, and bought the stove, and a 3 year replacement plan. So far, 45 minutes was invested in the purchase of this stove. The next day (7/21), I returned to confirm that the stove would fit in my space, and arrange delivery. Once again, the appliances section was unmanned for quite a while, so after 15 minutes I went to the front of the store to request assistance. A manager named Erica and a young Russian lady spent the next half hour setting up delivery for Tuesday, 7/25. I have to say, both were friendly and very helpful. Another 45 minutes spent getting this stove. Today, 7/25, my stove was never delivered. I returned to the location, and shockingly enough, no one was working in the appliance area. I flagged down an employee who called someone to assist me. The employee was confused, and spent a few minutes arguing with me as to whether or not the stove could be delivered, as it was sold as a take away, but I produced receipts from 7/21 showing delivery was arranged, and asking where my stove was. What followed was an hour long song and dance about looking through delivery records, checking back rooms, etc, only to tell me that the stove was "sold out from under me" and that the best they could do was re-imburse my money, which is completely unacceptable. With all of their computer systems, how are they not flagged when trying to sell an already sold item? I have sunk over 2 1/2 hours of my life into buying this product, and after their incompetence, they are not willing to honor the sale with the same stove or something comparable. Do not shop at this location.

We bought a brand new stove here, which broke almost immediately. We called to have it repaired, but they are apparently too busy even to call us and let us know when a repair could be made. The general attitude is, "We don't care to schedule you, and we don't care what you use for heat in the meantime. Thanks for the $6,000 for the stove." Not only are they dragging their feet about a service call, they are rude about the fact that it is our primary source of heat. The woman at the front gives excuses, but no solutions, and was exceptionally rude. Ray seems like he is trying to help, but he isn't given any authority to schedule repairs, apparently. This is compounded by the fact that their repair guy was literally 7 minutes from our house, but didn't want to make even a quick visit to look at the problem. There is a stove store in Hamilton which is a drive, but worth it for better service. We regret not purchasing from them, instead. After some back and forth, we said we'd just return the stove. Then they decided it was worth their while to show up to help, and told us that wood heat is not supposed to be a primary source of heat, when that's literally how they make their money. When we purchased the stove, we told them that is our goal and they endorsed using it as a primary source of heat. One of the reasons we purchased here is because they said they have all the parts available to them either in stock or at a warehouse close by. Now they are claiming it is 3-4 weeks out for parts.
